I was never into cameras and probably take shit photos…bought an m10 from the previous teds deal. Now I want to get that Olympus M-D. What have you guys done to me? I think I paid $300 so $160 is insane! Anyway, should I do it, I think I want a viewfinder

Hi guys- annoying question coming up! What is the best value compact digital camera we have here? I'm after a smallsie, that can easily be packed in my backpack, for taking photos whilst on backpacking travels. I just sold my dSLR- that beast took some amazing photos but boy they're huge to lug around.

  em10 is a great dslr replacement.
  
  have been using an em5 for the last couple of years. All the benefits of a DSLR in a much smaller package.
  
  I dont even use a carry bag for my one these days. I can easily just leave it over my shoulder.

JB being dodgy. 70d has now been removed as well as 80d. Noticed they've jacked the price up on the 80d from $1096 or something like that to $1599 now.

  This is a common practice. They only allocated few items for sale to drive the traffic and drive your buying impulse. JB is not the only one doing this. graysonline just did it for the tefal and many other sellers too. It's called marketing. But you and the rest of people at ozbargain help a lot to watch this activity and remind the rest. Thank you.

  Great stuff! Everyone in the thread has been talking about the M10 Mark 2 but I still prefer the A6000. For a walk about zoom lens I would recommend in this order (which is also nearly most expensive to cheapest)

    quite a big price difference between the EM10 and A6000, I think for a value perspective, you can't go past the M10. Once you add even the crapiest sony kit lens, the overall price is about 50% more than that of the EM10.

Is it definitely $150 cash back on the M10 kit? Ted's have it as $100 cash back.. I know the camera on it's own is $150 on the Canon website but I can't find anything about the kit.

Went to my local store. The staff scan the Eos m10 @ $311 from the display shelf. He then came back from the store room to get a new stock and then told me the price has been updated to $469. Seems pricing error.

Confirmed that at least the M10 and Olympus were pricing errors. Store manager said "they were supposed to be 15% off RRP" - he honoured for me but they were taking the cameras off the shelves while I was standing there. They've been issued a memo with all the offending SKU's. Receipt incoming!

Just called JB Hifi Eastgardens - they stated the links are now dead as the pricing was incorrect. They priced the canon cameras minus the $150 cashback and then took the 15% off.

He expected they will honour those who were lucky enough to pay online.

  I rang 40 mins ago and had one on hold, saw a message here that they were calling the stores to stop sales of the M10 so i went there straight away and just got home with my M10.
  
  It was on hold, i was preparing for an argument but it scanned at $311, then threw in the 5% discount so i got it for $295!

So I was so STOKED that the local store had 5 in stock Canon EOS M10. They confirmed that the price was $311 then at 930 am, and so I asked for them to reserve one for me. I drove instore (took me 20 mins) only to be met with disappointment as they said the advertised prices were error! It was supposed to be only 15% off RRP, not 50% off. That explains the links being broken after just a few hours guys. And they couldn't honour the advertised price anymore as by the time I got to the store the links had been taken off the website. GRRRRRRR……
