Just an important note that this is LGA2011-V3, so you need an appropriate motherboard to uses this CPU. Example ASUS X99.

Yep. I already have an X99 mobo with a 5820k in it. I don't see why I'd upgrade to even the top x99 8core cpu 6950x when I could just move to Ryzen 1700 for better cheaper multithreaded performance.
Ryzen doesn't do well in some applications like Lightroom, so I had to go the X99 path.
For users who need the PCI-E lanes this is actually a really nice deal. If you're not one of these people stick with Ryzen or wait for coffee lake.
Great for highly parallel multi-threaded apps, but still no faster than a 5-year-old core-i5 for single-threaded apps.
So don't have unrealistic expectations for an upgrade.
