How would warranty work for this?

    • would like to know too

      • +1

I'm not sure about warranty but anytime I have had to deal with amazon customer service it has been so easy. No one has replied about warranty so might be taking a risk but their customer service has always been top notch with my dealings.

        • Good luck with postage back to UK though. It's not covered outside of UK AFAIK.

  • Thinking about pulling the trigger…must resist…

  • DO IT.

    • +13

Done :) I'm easily persuaded it seems.

      • +3

        That's the ozbargain spirit :)

      • GIVE ME MONEY.

  • I am also wondering about the warranty issue, and it states as in stock on 11 SEP, is it a backorder?

    • Yeah currently out of stock but they should have it by then.

  • +1

Just tried it, my price came out a little higher:

    (Order Total: GBP 229.23)
    Payment Total: AUD 388.91

    • +5

      pay GBP

  • I've been waiting for a deal but am I wise to go for this one? I'm weary as it's not from Australia. Also is it any difference at all to an Aussie sold Switch?

    • Only the charger is different I think.

      • Do I need to purchase an adapter for this do you know? Anyone have any info on that stuff

Just use this instead of the one that comes with this Switch.

        • @OzBMate629: thanks!

        • +7

          @OzBMate629:

If you're paying $380 for the (grey) console and $40 for the power adapter, wouldn't you be better spending the extra $50 and getting a local console with local warranty from JB? (I know it's not the ozbargain way, but a little over 10% extra for local warranty seems like a better deal?)

        • @ozoner: yeah I'll have to pass on this one. I'll keep checking Kogan, or go for the current BigW Deal. I'm certain I'm buying one, just waiting for a good deal.

        • @ozoner: Yes, you are right. It's a bit risky buying overseas with nintendo products, especially because of their warranty policies. Kogan are bound to have another Switch deal, see if you can jump on one of those when they pop up.

I'm weary as it's not from Australia.

Weary? You don't have to fetch it yourself.

Although I would be wary of warranty claims.

  • +2

Wonder if it can get cheaper than this before Christmas??

    • +1

Probably not but maybe in a bundle with mario

      • If any Nintendo dude is listening.
Do this and sales will be simply unbelievable.

      • +1

I'm waiting for something like this.

        • Even a fire emblem bundle I'd jump on

    https://www.nintendo.com.au/nintendo-switch-warranty

Looks like Nintendo AUS/NZ only cover consoles sold in Aus/NZ, by the wording on that page

    • +2

      Exclusions:
      C. the Product if it was not supplied by Nintendo in either Australia or New Zealand;

Looks like not covered here in AU

      • +2

yeah looks like it, think i'll pass and visit Kogan's page every 5 minutes…..

    • +1

If this reddit thread is anything to go by, it's worth giving them a call tomorrow about it. I think Amazon UK can help out with repairs, however I'm not 100% sure on the policy.

      • It's very a matter of convenience though, if you're about to whoop Bowser's ass with yo funky moustache and it goes kaput, which return method would be quicker?

  • Before I get this any word on the quality of the upcoming NBA 2K18 game for Switch?

    • +1

Well, apparently it's going to be delayed for just the Switch, which is a shame. However, I don't think the game will look very good compared to other consoles, mainly because of the switch's power in comparison to the One and PS4. If you like NBA2K, and don't care about graphics, then the Switch version is for you.

      • Do you think it will be comparable to the original Xbox One gameplay? I heard it will be released digitally at the same time as every other console.

        • As I said before, the gameplay will be the exact same, rosters, gamemodes, etc, just the graphics will not be up to scratch.

  • Loverly.

This new Nintendo DS called the Nintendo Switch sure is better than the old 3DS. Pushes 720p! even beats the PSP in graphics!! I wonder when the new Wii is coming out?

    • +1

      Is this humour?

      • No, this is the predicted weather of a saltstorm.

    • Ds stands for dual screen, this has a single screen.
3ds isn't old, it's still supported by Nintendo with new games coming out.
Plays at 1080p docked, although the screen is 720. This may be to conserve battery.
PSP actually has pretty good pixel density, although Vita is better.
I think you're referring to the wiiu, you're a few years behind.

Someone is a salty sony/Microsoft fan.

    • -3

Hahaha the salt is real! Yes this was humour, who gives a hoot which console people prefer. Play on whatever tickles your pickles. But seriously, when is the new Wii coming out? ;)

      • I preferred the old wii. I don't want a portable games system. I just want to box the air like I'm dancing to a Midnight Oil song…

  • They don't take the money until item is shipped right?

    • So could you technically order it and cancel it before it's shipped?

  • -6

hmm It would be smarter to buy a new 3DS Xl "2015 version for IPS Panel", You can hack those systems to give you every single game for free "i know cause i've done it" their are Tons more games on the 3DS and you have the amazing glass-less 3D feature

    • +2

Why the quotations? Also, you're literally telling people to buy an older (but still amazingly good) console instead because piracy is easier on it.

Don't get me wrong, I own a O3DS, 3DSXL, N3DS and 2DSXL, I love them, but the switch is an entirely different console.

  • +10

Going to neg this. Once you add cost of local power supply the savings drop dramatically and with lack of warranty and shipping times this isn’t looking like much of a deal.

    • +3

You don't need to buy the Nintendo power supply. You could use a Type-C phone charger ,or just use type-C cable plus any USB charger which is rated over 15W.

      • +10

I thought the UK use 230-240v so wouldn't a $2 adapter do the trick?

      • The switch dock likely wont work with this though. Unfortunately It checks if you are using an official nintendo (or licensed third party power adapter) and does not power on if you arent (you get no signal to the tv at all - with a message on the switch tablet screen saying please plug in a nintendo adapter)

    • I cancelled my order no charges had been taken until a day or so. This is solid advice. It does start to add up. Adapter, no local warranty.. Will wait for a local sale as much as that sucks.

      • +1

Yeah that two dollar adapter and the warranty you probably won't use sure add up!

        • +1

Kogan sells it on sale for the same price, Australian stock. Warranty I probably won't need? Yep thats reassuring.. whats the point of warranty if you approached every purchase like that. Especially one costing in excess of $300. Haha anyway.

  • Gone I believe

  • damnit! all gone! been waiting for a switch deal for a few weeks and missed one!

  • -1

If this was $200 it would be a bargain and easy to get with risking no warranty. But this is like what, $25-$50 cheaper than local stock? Plus you still need to buy a power cable. I kinda feel bad to those that actually bought this thinking its a bargain due to the mindless upvotes.

    • +1

local stock is $469 and the switch can be powered by a usb c cable and a phone charger. Hardly a mindless purchase.

      • It cant though (See my message above) - the dock will not work without using an official nintendo adapter (or the licensed third party ones). You can however charge the switch in tablet mode with any normal charger, but the switch does a check when you are in dock mode for a proper charger.

        • So your saying the official Nintendo adaptor with the UK plug that comes in this package when paired with $2 adaptor wont work? i find that hard to believe.

If you can live without the chance of not using the warranty in the first year its a great deal when compared to deals on in Australia at the moment (which is next to none!).

        • @Fin88: "local stock is $469 and the switch can be powered by a usb c cable and a phone charger."

yeh, im saying that the DOCK/TV MODE will not work with a usb c cable and a phone charger (the dock will not work like this, but this method could be used to power the switch tablet by itself)

in terms of the $2 dollar adapter you mentioned, I assume you mean an UK to AUS plug converter in order to plug your switch into an australian power point. And yep, im sure that should work just fine - as long as you use the official adapter its not going to matter if its a UK nintendo ac adapter going into an UK/AUS plug converter.

    • Lol 200

      • +1

Thats why people buy grey import. Because its cheaper. If it breaks, you can buy a new one and still be ahead in savings. Who in their right mind would buy this without warranty when its so close to local stock price? The whole point of importing is because its supposed to be drastically cheaper.

  • +2

I wouldn't risk the warranty issue to save $20. If you wait a while Kogan or JB will do a deal where the console works out to be $400 (or equivalent with bundled game). I got the $469 deal with Mario Kart 8 Deluxe a few weeks back. The game is worth $69 so the console came in at $400.

  • +1

Well good luck with people who get a dud machine and sending it back its gonna cost you more at the very end, just my two cents.

  • I just bought one (I've got some spare GBP lying around). It is back in stock I believe.
