  • I've purchased from these guys before but from haymarket and they are preety good when it comes to warranty and customer service.

  • $316 no good.

Clive Peeter did the emachine before for around $200.

    • Did it have the 250gb drive and same cpu?

      • Same CPU, 160GB HDD.

  • They are doing it for $327 now but with cashback. 160GB, XP.

    http://www.clivepeeters.com.au/products/computers-technology…

    • I'll give you a super special hot tip - it's cheaper in store, if you can find stock. ;)

    • +2

The Lenovo is a vastly better deal because it has a 250gb drive, 3 USB ports, Win 7 and is only $316 including delivery (and it's not an Acer).

      • I dont think its a better deal (at least not to all).
        90GB difference is negligible
        1 extra USB port also
Win 7 can be attained cheaply
        6 cell vs. 3 cell
$119 difference ($130 in my case)

The only thing I would care much about there is the extra battery life and I can get a 6 cell for much less than $130. And I dont really care about battery life. Plus I would have 2 batteries instead of 1.

        • superforever says the Acer is now $327 with cash back from Clive Peeters + delivery.

So which one would you buy as the better deal?

          • @Horizon: I dont know how to make my writing bold and italic like you but ""I"" would go into HN right now and get the Acer for $219 anytime I want.

I would buy the Acer as the better deal.

You need to go see a doctor who will hopefully prescribe some relaxatives. When you go to the chemist and they say the brand name is $3 and the generic is $2 but both do basically the same thing, you can alsao have your "vastly better deal" and I'll have my opinion of a deal.

            • -1

              @sash213: Relaxatives?

Obviously they are relatives who always bring booze when they visit (or who give you the shites). (Spellchecker is your friend, young sash213!)

I think you are missing the point of my post which referred directly to superforever's specific post about a $327 Acer from Clive Peeters. He wasn't referring to an Acer from someone else.

              Edited for clarity.

              • @Horizon: mmm, spellchecker. intelligence is your friend old, oblivious Horizon.

The Acer from HN is the same as the eMachine from Clive. Acer is eMachines and I'm referring to em350 (the exact same netbook).

Seriously chill sunshine, you will have yourself a heart attack.

                $219 anytime for Acer eMachines.

    this is 6 cell too
not sure about emachine ones (the one i got from harvey normal was only 3 cell though)

acer vs lenovo? what? even tho specs looks same build quality is diff.

    • At this low end there isnt much difference, still i would be going the lenovo, so i didnt feel like i was using the hyundai of computers

      • More like the great wall motors equivalent.

        • lol good call

    • So u mean which one is better? They are all build in China.

Remember Lenovo is China brand now not IBM anymore.

      • +1

well if thats what you think, then buying a china branded cars and mercedez cars that are assembled in china is the same?

quality control is varied between brands. do the search online about brand and fail rate you will know.

not to mention in this deal, you get bigger harddrive…

        • So you have no idea who ACER is.

        • Thats exactly what i meant quality control, after having to work with both equipment and owning them which is why i made my comment , sounds like you got offended

ps i was made redundant by lenovo from IBM so will never forget that its not owned by IBM!

          • @Mikinoz: na im not. at least we know lenovo would have better control than acer was the point i am trying to make.

            • @overlook: ahh cool , totally agree with your point :)

woops, I just posted the same thing seconds ago. can't compete with star trek's warp speed :P

  • I saw this on the eBay Big Deals page this morning (approximately 2am) which was listed as $316 however when you followed the link to the merchant auction page they listed it as $399. Tempted to neg based on that seeing as they have already ended the deal.

    • I first saw this deal here this morning about 11:30 AEDT when the eBay site said 30 units had been sold.

Now, at 2pm, it says 100 have been sold and the sale is over, so it was a genuine deal (unlike some).

A neg would be both unwarranted & unfair. The offer simply sold out quickly.

Maybe Scotty can mark it "Sold Out" or expired.

      • So they conveniently had a mere 100 units for an eBay big deal (that hundreds of thousands of people are going to see in the ebay mailout) that was priced incorrectly for the majority of the life of the deal. Somehow I don't find that acceptable. Probably another reason why people hate ebay posts here so much, myself included.

        • I think you're a hard man Cobalt.

Surely 100 units is a fair enough quantity?

  • +3

Marked as Sold Out and Expired now. Only 100 units available, and sold out after about 250 clicks from OzBargain. Comparing to 6000+ clicks for the Dell Vostro 3500 offer…

    • $ 31.600 within +/-12 hrs - business runs good. Let's hope more like this to come. I'm done here - beam me up Scotty !

  • I find myself in the market for a decent netbook ATM. Am quite interested in this Acer eM350. Will probably head out to HN later.

    A few questions though…
Where do I shop for an extra or a 6 cell battery.
Where do I get Win7 for cheap? And just how cheap is cheap supposed to be? [Am still running XP SP3 since XP first came out - can't even remember how many slipstream disks I've made over the years.]
Corollary - Should I even try to look for Win7? Some folks have claimed that it was actually faster?
Do these netbooks take more memory? Does it matter?
Does this Acer have one of those quick starting OS type things?

Full disclosure - I fully understand that they're low powered. Only want a portable 3rd PC for surfing, light office tasks, watching videos.

    TIA!

  • It's not sold out anymore. Same price, too.
