Approximately how many $50 notes will fit in this bag?

    • +4

A genuine ozbargainer would choose $100 notes to buy twice less $5 duffle bags.

      • +8

Is "twice less" the same as "half as many"? Seems really confusing to me…

        • +2

"Twice less" is (X)*2, where X is any number less than the original, whereas "half as many" is Y/2, where Y is the original value. They don't use the same variable, see.

I hope it's less confusing now.

Are you planning to 'laundry' your money?
Maybe ask the CBA for help.

    • based on the bag dimensions this is not HSBC compliant. Wouldn't fit through the special tellter windows they designed for money laundering. Maybe the Australian windows have been enlarged???

    • I was wondering if you could fit a full human body inside this bag. Asking for a friend…

      • It says unavailable online

        • Sometimes you have to check with the store. Not all can be purchased online. You need to ring the store to reserve some for you.

        • @save50:

          ok thanks

        • @diarlin:
          You are welcome.

  • 23.5cm width, less than 10in wide? Is that the width of the smaller cover?

    • Officeworks says it is around 57cm X29cm if you unfold it.

      • Didn't see that info on the item page, thanks.

First the avocados, now with the duffle bags.

  • Anyone have any idea how many litres this holds?

    • +3

That's not how you use an umbrella. You're supposed to hold it the other way up.

      • Was editing my post, but you got in first! ;)

Based on the dimensions of the bag listed above (57x29cm), it should be about 37-38L if it's cylindrical…for anyone that got one, does that sound about right?

Also how's the quality of the bag? Comparable to other packable bags (which are generally a bit flimsy), or even worse?

        • It could be 74 litres, you are assuming the small measurement is the diameter.

        • @endotherm:

What other dimension would it be? And how do you get 74L?

Assuming that the duffle bag is vaguely cylindrical, it's pretty safe to assume the 29cm is the diameter, as that is the only measurement that would really mean anything in relation to a piece of luggage.

IF, for whatever reason, they have decided to state the radius instead of the diameter (why they possibly would do so, I have no idea, because that is not a very helpful way to present the dimensions of the bag), then the volume would be roughly 150L, not 74L. (It appears that you have doubled the volume to account for double the diameter, however that is not accurate - the volume is quadrupled. Volume of a cylinder is calculated as pi x r-squared x h, so making it (2 x r)-squared would be the same as multiplying by 4)

IF the bag is actually closer to a rectangular prism, and 29cm measures the length of the square, then the volume would be closer to 48L.

IF the bag was a rectangular prism that is not square, then we cannot estimate the volume with only two measurements. (Although, from the pictures, it looks like it's roughly circular/square…or sqircular!)

I would say it's pretty safe to say that the volume is roughly in the vicinity of 37-48L (let's say 35-50L for a margin of error), depending on the shape of the bag, and how accurate those measurements are, etc. :)

        • @caprimulgus: You are overthinking it. My post was a "tongue-in-cheek" comment on making assumptions on which dimension was the diameter and which was the height. Transposing the numbers in a calculator e.g. http://coastpumps.com/water-tank-pool-volume-conversion will give 74 litres or 37.7 litres. In this instance there is a coincidental 2:1 ratio and the calculated volume is doubled. I haven't accidentally doubled anything. Transposing base and height does not always yield this phenomenon.

        • @endotherm:

Right, so you were trying to be funny…don't give up your day job! :P

  • Thanks OP.
