Free Products Registration

MulchNet has recently expanded Australia wide.

Whilst we endeavour to fulfill all orders, not all post codes are covered by participating contractors. If your post code is not covered we will try to find a contractor in your area to fulfill your order ASAP.

WARNING: The risk of spreading pests & disease through green mulch may be low, but is must always be considered. Always check with the Tree Contractor delivering your mulch when they contact you before delivery.

T & C
1. Mulch sales always come first

  1. You get what's on the truck, can be a generous 15 cubic meters (about 17 trailer loads) or more.

  2. NO GUARANTEE that you will ever receive a load of mulch. This is a standby system for participating Tree Contractors who may need to empty the truck in your area but the final decision is always up to the Contractor.

  3. Excess mulch is NOT the responsibility of the Tree Contractor or MulchNet and will not be removed. It may be a good idea to have a chat with neighbours about sharing a load before registering.

  4. Not all loads will be the same, it all depends on the type of plant being mulched (hardwood, softwood, stringy palm frond, etc.) and the sharpness of the blades. However, the variation of small & large particles are the secret to a good mulch.

"3) NO GUARANTEE that you will ever receive a load of mulch. This is a standby system for participating Tree Contractors who may need to empty the truck in your area but the final decision is always up to the Contractor."

    • But if you pay you have a 'better chance' at this freebie…
NOTE: You can speed a free registration by offering to pay a delivery fee of $49.50. Very, very good value helps with the fuel costs.

      • $49.50. Very, very good value helps with the fuel costs.

If diesel is $2 a litre that's 25 litres of diesel

If the delivery truck gets really bad economy and uses 20 litres per 100km then it's not very, very good value because it's only "for participating Tree Contractors who may need to empty the truck in your area" so they aren't driving over 100 km to get to you because that wouldn't be in your area

        • You average small/medium truck (tree contractor size) uses about 20-25/L per 100km for urban driving.

Certainly gives them some incentive if your a little bit out of the way.

Committed to be first to comment on deals since 2017. Impressive!

  • +1

Depends on your luck. Sometimes they deliver it to you within 1 week.

      Depends on your luck.

Bargains shouldn't be a matter of 'luck'. This is closer to a competition than a bargain.

      • +3

Depends on your luck: I am talking about how soon they will delivery it to you.
Free mulche + free delivery = Bargain

        • Depends on your luck

Read the T&C's. You might not get any…

@jv story of my life. sigh

      • Committed to be first to complain about deals since 2017. Impressive!

    • depends on where you are as well. i think in WA you might get some, but not so in eastern cities

Untreated mulch is like giving termites a free home. Sometimes free is not good.

    • +1

Yep, had that exact experience… Dodgy tree contractors get your address then drop and run before you can question anything. We ended up with 15 cubic metres, half was palm and there were whiteants throughout.

      • 😱

I've registered for mulch 5x last year and got nothing and no reply.

    • I bet you've received phone calls from India trying to sell you solar panels though… that

      • +2

Thanks, I'm going to sign up for the mulch so I can get the solar panels.

      • Surprisingly no. Ever since I made a fool of them those telemarketers stop calling me 🤣

  • If you're in brisy be sure it's not coming out of a fire-ant zone.

  • +3

Sounds a bit risky to me

    • +1

That's why all the landscaping yards have to be certified fire-ant free up here
and why people are trying to build up a list of customers to offload straight off their trucks instead
They've already spread from the Port of Brisbane half way to the border ranges and it's why we have helicopters hovering 100 feet of the ground with infra-red camera's trying to spot nests and dropping poison baits all over

15 cubic metres of termite infested palm fronds (possibly) delivered on a random day for free. That's a bargain if ever I heard one!

  • +2

Just got a load OMG. Not impressed as they did not call just dumped a load on verge. Be warned.

    • +1

Unscrupulous… The tree contractors seem dodgy af. See my comment above…

      • I have lots left over how did you get rid of yours? I have just put it in the classified section of Ozbargain. Any other ideas?

        • Two years later, I still have a pile in the front yard… Perhaps burn it?

  • This is not a deal as delivery is not guaranteed

  • -6

    bump

    • People just want to use up their downvotes these days and can't look literally 1cm above my comment to see someone else bumped this post, not me.

  • +15

Not sure why this came up on my front page. Wonder if anyone received their mulch from 5 years ago.

    • +1

      and jv is already here

    • -2

coz @King Steuart wrote BUMP (BRING UP MY POST)

    • +1

No need just call a local Arborist. Got 20m3 in a week after call and that was a small one 3 years ago. All composted down now and made bio char with some bigger chucks. It is a lot of wood and leaves it will kill your back.

  • +1

Be careful what you wish for.. Have known someone who got literally had the whole garden dumped full of mulch he can't get rid of

  • 2017? Marty, we have to go back!

  • +4

My neighbor is a jerk, I'm going to sign him up ;) 15 cubic metres of mulch ;)

    /Sarcasm off
I mean do they actually check who's signing?

  • +10

Sounds more like a deal for the tree contractors, free dumping service at their connivence and when they want to.

  • There are free facebook groups for this.

I am part of one in outer sydney and works well, but its very popular and is a mad scramble when some comes up for first in best dressed

My uncle runs a tree lopping business. He has an ongoing gumtree add for free/cheap mulch and gives away anything decent to places between his job site and home, or charges a small amount for delivery. He seems to be able to get rid of anything he thinks is usable with basically no effort or cost.

This company charges a fee to the companies to connect the customers with them. As a result it isn't surprising that the companies expect the customers to take everything, regardless of whether it's good hardwood mulch, or rubbish palm mulch.

If you want free mulch search for it.

If you want mulch that isn't crap I'd suggest paying for it. Screw saving $100 a cube to get free mulch that might not be usable and takes several hours/days to distribute.

  • +1

It's cheaper for them to give it away because it costs them to dump it…

We got a load for free previously because we just contacted done random tree guy we saw.
