So what are we asking you to do?

Sign up to Polished Man

This October we challenge men (and women) to paint one fingernail Polished Man Blue to represent the 1 child that dies every 5 minutes as a result of violence. Note: Blue is preferable but any colour will be accepted.

Start a conversation about violence on behalf of those one in five children

Fundraise, so together we can provide trauma relief and trauma prevention services to our world’s most vulnerable citizens.

For those wanting to join, you need to join as an individual and then add the OzBargain team. Please do not create a new team just use the existing one here Make sure you donated on your individual profile.

      Great news Scotty!

I am sure we can make the total.

    • +2

Well done Scotty and the ozbargain community, $5177 total right now.

  • Do the burger vouchers have to be used on the date of issue or can you save them?

    • +1

Must be used by midnight that day.

  • DONE!

    $30

  • -2

I believe women aren't eligible for this, I was turned away last year

    • Women are eligible.

Source: Actually know a woman. We went last year.

      • +1

Why am I negged, I was just stating what happened.

Really? I went to a couple of places last year and they told me that the deal was only applicable for men and women couldn't participate.

        • Not sure on the downvotes - didn't come from me. There's a thread on last years post about this issue. So long as one of your painted nails was distinguishable from the others it should have been fine.

        • @IDontWantToSignUpJustToComment: I don't normally paint my nails but did in this case, was a little disappointed when they did turn me down though

        • @pyro love bird: Yeah, you're supposed to paint 1 nail a different colour. Worked for my (female) partner last year.

If you did this and got turned down, that sucks. Grill'd are variable. The Grill'd I frequent is awesome, they let me do take-away gourmet burgers last year for free.

        • @idonotknowwhy: ah okay, glad to know that other women have had more luck and got to enjoy this :)

    • You have to have 1 nail different to eligible.

  • +1

Joined the team. Donated $30. I'm ready for my burger tomorrow :)

  • +3

Wow shocking to see so much hate.. For me i think it's a good deal $30 for 7 burgers, they have good burgers.

    • I bet all the haters have already signed up and donated :)

  • -2

How on earth you donate to get a food bargain (or even get encouraged to donate to get a food offer), what a bad deed!
Donations should be fully paid without any pay back.

  • +1

Quick, someone alert Cory Bernardi of this heinous campaign.. Then it's sure to raise some $.

  • -8

I don't think an over-priced burger a day, nor "$40 off" for that is anything worth justifying with the word bargain.

  • -3

Commenting so I can neg, reasoning is the same as others, that I don't want to support this kind of sexist hypocracy.

That's coming from an early childhood professional who has a background in youth work and violence prevention as well.

    • +2

What part of "BURGER" don't you understand?

      • hahahaha agreed!

    • Wow, OzBargain revokes negative votes after -5… So even if you vote, it doesn't matter or change the outcome of circlejerk votes.

That's disappointing… was wondering why there were 0 negative votes.

So today is the day I learn that negative votes do nothing.

      • -3

        Wow.

Thanks for commenting that dude. That's bullshit. I can understand the idea behind it, but the execution is bullshit. I had no idea either.

        • At least your vote is standing for now.

        • -2

          @StoneSin:

          Yeah, for now.

I'm glad I was on my phone and didn't have a keyboard to write a full essay for it.

Just further confirmation that you're not allowed to say anything against the agendas.

        • +1

          @TheDukeOfNukem:

Pretty sure you're getting negs because $30 for 7 Grill'd burgers is still a bargain whether you agree with the charity or not.

        • @peco: Typical "put down" mind.

        • @StoneSin: What?

        • -3

@peco: Pretty sure my comment's still live because there's a few rational people who don't dismiss everything instantly upvoting it. Considering it's got 9 negs and only 1 showing, there's a pretty even split down the middle. Which is impressive, if nothing else.

        • @TheDukeOfNukem:

Doesn't matter how many negs your comment gets but once it reaches -6 overall, then you negative vote on the deal is revoked.

  • -5

Not free. Last year it was, this year you're forced to "donate".
    Remove free from the title.

  • +1

god the comments section on ozb has turned the way of youtube

    • Please report any comments.

      • yes i do when required :)

  • donated to myself (so i thought ) but its not showing in my profile
also cannot join the ozB team
    wtf
    is the site borked?

    • might have donated on the Ozbargain team site not your own profile, kinda wonky

  • +1

    I didn't receive my voucher!!!!

    AAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!

  • Dammit, didn't tick the sign me up for free grill'd burger at the beginning. Is there any way to do it again? Already donated. EDIT: Oh, ok it's in the profile.

Ok, seems like I donated $30 to ozbargain instead of myself, so now it's saying I've raised $0… Hopefully it still works out otherwise it should've been mentioned very explicitly in the post to donate to your own profile and not to the team profile as it's extremely unclear. The instructions in the OP made it seem like you join the team then donate, which means you donate to the ozbargain team and not yourself.

  • +2

I agree with the others above, I was on mobile and found the site incredibly unclear. I donated $30 to the Ozbargain team but not myself. I've now donated an EXTRA $30 to myself but it was really confusing to work out what I had done wrong.

    • I wouldn't be surprised if dozens of people ended up donating to the team and not themselves. The promotion itself does say "raised at least $30 on the Polished Man platform". It doesn't specify that it has to be to yourself. Regardless, mods should update the post to clear any confusion.

      • Email them and ask to get it fixed. They corrected mine within a day so my donation is now assigned to my profile not directly to Ozbargain profile.

        • Yep, I did email them right after doing the donation. My only concern now is whether they will provide a voucher for today but I did ask anyway. I just hope a mod updates the post to prevent anyone else making this mistake

      • "Raised" not "donated", a small difference.

  • Does anyone know whether it will be a require eat in store like it was last year?

    • According to the T&Cs yes, but I am going to try for a takeaway.

    • Voucher worked for a takeaway order for me.

  • +1

Valid at all Grill'd restaurants; only valid when a customer has signed up to be a Polished Man, raises $30 or more and has a painted nail; excluding Sliders, Mini Me, Dynamic Duos, Specialty Range; any additions or optimisations to your burger will need to be paid for separately; this offer is not available via online ordering, for take-away purchases or via Uber Eats; limited to one voucher per customer daily; not valid with any other offer; single use only; replica or forged versions of this voucher will not be accepted; offer expires at 23:59 (AWST) 04/10/2017; see website for full terms and conditions.

  • +3

Anybody got their voucher yet? Think I bamboozled myself

    • +3

They were sent closer to 10:00 last year, and probably mentioned the 9:00 am in T & C. Keep waiting a little longer.

      • +5

Still has not got mine either.

        • Just use that free Domino ;)

        • @evgpek:

I wish I was quick enough yesterday. :(

    • +2

      Haven't got mine yet ;(

    • +1

I haven't got mine either. Anyone else?

It's getting closer to lunch time! haha

    • +1

      Not yet, as of 10:59am.

  • Do you have to paint a particular nail? I'm about to paint one.

    • any

      • Cool. I thought it was that, but the pictures all show the ring finger.

      • does it have to be blue?

        • +1

          no

        • +3

          Any nail, any colour.
I opted for bright red, cause why not.

  • +4

If you have not received your free burger voucher by 11:15am please follow these simple steps:

    1. Make sure your personal fundraising page has raised $30 or more
    2. After 11:15AM head to https://www.grilld.com.au/polishedman
    3. Enter your Polished Man login email
    4. Your burger voucher will then appear on the page, simply bring to your local Grill'd restaurant
    • +2

Where do you enter your email exactly? The only link is is to sign up.

      • Looks like it isn't activated yet.

        • +1

Unsure what you mean. My account isn't activated or the page isnt?

        • @elliot81:

I copied the email I got from polished man about the vouchers.

The link on the Grill'd page isn't activated yet.

        • @Thespottedcow: Ok thanks

        • My guess is that they might have a quite a few people that didn't donate through their own profile and have to fix a lot manually, ignore a lot or perhaps set up a page for people who have donated the required funds.

  • I got my one at 5am.

  • +1

My email just came thru from Grill'd it is a QR code this year instead of a barcode.

    • Can confirm voucher redeemed without any issues.

Kids burgers, sliders and premium range excluded but a good selection of burgers available.

I opted for the Mighty Melbourne for lunch.

  • +1

    Still haven't received anything.
Unsure about that link you posted Spotted Cow.
Can't seem to logon anywhere on that site…

    • https://www.polishedman.com/login/ To login to your profile. If you can't login, then you haven't signed up but just donated. Had to have signed up, joined ozbargain(optional but nice) then donated to your OWN site

ie Talos2005s donation page at polished man. "Will you please donate to this great cause praise Talos"

      • I can login polishedman fine, but the link spotted cow posted seem to imply you login on grilld?

        • Yeah, spotted cows email has a grilld link that doesnt seem to be up yet. Mine was to check if you had the $30 and to get the voucher through that area. Implementation isnt up yet.

Probably either message them on facebook (active now) for best chance of getting a quick code

    • +1

Same. Still haven't received any email from Grill'd. I can log into Polishedman website, with donation showing in my own profile, and was done yesterday evening.

  • +2

I can logon to my page. And it shows the $30 under my account.
Still no link to get the burger from it. So not sure what I am doing wrong…

    • +1

      Check your junk email?

  • +1

Starting to get hungry…where are you voucher!

    • ooh I got it! JIT burger vouchers

  • still no email from grill'd :(

  • +2

    Nothing in Spam.
I messaged them on FB and they said they had technical difficulties.
So they sent me a QR Code.

  • +1

You're not the only one, I've donated the $30 , verified it on my site and no voucher
The link above was probably a once off.
Remind me next year to pass on this offer

10 minutes later mine turned up
    Fingers crossed for all

  • Got my email, cheers!

  • I found my mail in spam

  • I just got mine

  • Got my liquid paper and whiteboard marker, just waiting on the voucher

  • Still waiting on the voucher…

  • mine just arrived. I have a theory they may send it in alphabetical order. The other three friends signed up after me but got it one by one in name alphabetical order? just a possibility?
