Pool & Spa Warehouse running this deal for a week.

Popular and simple skimmer to remove leaves, bugs etc from the top of the pool and connects to outlet for ease of use. Bag for debris to easily clean your pool.

I haven't used it (yet) but best price online is around $150. Youtube reviews also look promising.

  • Not that it matters if you don't get caught, but when our pool got checked, I was told to remove it as this type of 'surface potty skimmers' are banned in Australia.
Council has the ability to fine you supposedly…

Theory behind the ban is that they reckon the suction is so large that it can be an entrapment concern if hair is sucked in and become a drowning hazard…

Bit silly imo but a heads up

    • Appreciate the heads-up on this. I Had a look and found this

      https://www.accc.gov.au/system/files/Portable%20spas%20-%20p…

    • The Poolskim is not a suction device (And it is not a potty skimmer). On the contrary, It uses the return line (water coming into the pool) to create a venturi effect. The venturi effect is gentle, but effective to do its job well.

      • I'm not an expert on this product but it appears to me that using this device with an average 1hp motor providing the venturi effect would be plenty of force behind the suction and more than enough to trap hair (which is the premise of the ban). From the supplied pictures there appears to be a net attached on the left which maybe splits the pressure in half and maybe that is enough to satisfy the regulator?

The above link to ACCC (quoted below) specifically excludes products which have safety strategies to avoid hair entrapment, does the device have that?

"Which spas, pools, skimmers and outlets are excluded?
        • Any transportable pools and spas in which the skimmers or outlets have features to minimise
the likelihood of hair or parts of the body becoming trapped when the devices are in use,"

  • If you end up purchasing could you let me know how good/bad it is? I am looking to purchase for my Dad's bday but know nada about pools
