  • I have a 65KS8000 this will be my next upgrade !!!

    • +1

Can u sell me yours? Haha

  • +2

Pretty sure appliancecentral's store had a 20% discount code run finish a week ago, so this has been cheaper.

EDIT: though that may have been a max discount of $500, which would put it at $4299

    • +2

      Correct it was $4299 Delivered.

  • +19

Looks at my wallet… one day son, you will get there.

  • +2

Looks like its a long wait till it hits $3k.

    • longer for $2K… $1k? Well I will be dead by then.

      • +3

nah by then Oleds would be mainstream instead of just for those looking for the best

        • +5

Can't wait till that happens. LCD is outdated tech that needs to die.

        • @Ryballs: LCD is almost dead. Its LED thats now in majority of TV's that now needs to be taken over well and good by OLED, give that we now have LG, Sony and Panasonic producing OLED TV's. Samsung may eventually give in and get on the OLED bandwagon, give that they tend to do the "me too" thing in most consumer electronics anyway.

        • +4

@Trishool: LED TVs are actually LCD with LED backlighting.

Samsung will get on the OLED bandwagon since their phones are pretty much all OLED these days.

        • +3

          @MrFunSocks:
A lot of LED TVs are LCD TVs with EDGE lighting, not even backlighting, which generally gives better contrast than Edge.

I don't care how many zones someone wants to chuck into their backlight system, the only advantage is nits, and for a proper TV in a controlled lighting environment, contrast > nits.

        • @MrFunSocks: Actually they're edge lit LCD-LED TV's rather than full backlight LED TV's. LCD therefore is still ruling the roost.

    • And when that happens the 75 inch will be this price… I can wait forever at this rate loll

  • 3.5k is max i can go. soon hopefully.

  • Which Ozbargainer pays $4k for a TV?

    • +15

The same ozbargainer that buys QC35s and Eneloops

      • +3

I have a qc35 and eneloops. But alas no $4,000+ tv. Must be doing something wrong.

        • We found ourselves a ring-in!

    • +1

      Politicians.

      • +1

One percenters who actively make things cost more for people earning much less than them.

    • +6

$4k is chump change to those with $80k high yielding investment car.

  • +2

Can we move the decimal one point to the left?

  • Would JB price match this? I've got about 850 in gift cards and JB has had nothing recently….

    • Worth a try. Just give your local JB a call.

  • +2

GoodGuys had Pana 65" for under $4K just a week ago through concierge discount codes….prices are coming down
    and JB were pricematching.

    • hoping some good deals will come around this christmas, with my plasma showing issues it might be time to get an upgrade.

    • JB should be as they own the GG's lol

      concierge discount codes…please elaborate?

    • +1

Can you elaborate how you get a concierge discount code and what you have to do to get it? Thanks

  • +3

Was $3996 just a week ago with TGG concierge 20% off

    • +1

      What is this concierge thing?

      • Thanks, what a curious thing.

    • I thought the "The good guys concierge service" was something you purchase with an item. i.e. you receive a cash back if the item drops in price after you buy it and better service during the guarantee period of the item (plus other stuff)… can you elaborate how you get a discount and what you have to do to get it? Thanks

      • Yeah you buy the service to get on the mailing list
Usually every month get discount codes which are pretty decent

        See previous deals below
        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/326839

Some people generous enough to share the unique codes

I've had my eye on this for ages, but i dont believe in a 3-400 discount for a near 1.5 year old model. It would need to be a fair bit cheaper, around 3 to 3.5K to be attractive to me, so I'll pass.

But the international "P" model in this range has really impressive (and detailed) reviews. Aside from sound quality (which any flat TV takes a hit on), this is an amazing panel. You can't really go wrong with an OLED.

    http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c7-oled

    • It's only 6 months old.

    • It's only 6 months old. I've got a b6t, it's quite good aside from the initial input lag. I hope LG considers transferring the pc mode setting from the 7 series to the 6 series as that would be great.

      • There was a firmware update earlier this year that did just that; check your settings, or find it online.

        • That was for game mode which reduced input lag to 28ms, but it's still as high as 70ms if you run 4:4:4 at 4k 60hz.
The 7 series now have a pc mode which reduces the input lag down to 21ms for most resolution and colour combinations.

        • Fair enough; that's fixed on the 2017 panel. Didn't realise you were talking about 4:4:4 specifically.

        • @jasswolf: I'm hoping they can fix it on the 2017,otherwise I'm somewhat wishing I was a bit more patient since the 2017s are getting cheaper.

        • @DangerNoodle: no it's definitely ok, see:

          http://www.rtings.com/tv/reviews/lg/c7-oled#comparison_831\

EDIT: oh, did you mean fix it on the 2016/B6? :P

        • +1

@jasswolf: yes, as mentioned above I'm hoping LG transfers the pc mode from these 7 series to the previous 6 series by firmware update if possible.

  • +1

Begrudgingly waiting on 75" at affordable prices

    • Well then, see you in 7 years when you finally settle on an 8k panel @ 75" with with true RGB, possibly using modular panels.

      • +1

        sniff

  • Wish I had bigger TV cabinet.
    It barely fits 55" now.

Anyone have thoughts on this vs the panasonic models that have recently come on the market?

Panasonic are around the same price, no dolby vision though (what content is out there anyway) but seeing them side by side in store I actually thought the panasonic looked slightly better.

Can't find any good online comparison reviews though, anyone have any advice/thoughts?

    • +1

Panasonic has better processing which means better picture quality in most cases. LG has better HDR and gaming. I'd have a look at these results: http://www.flatpanelshd.com/news.php?subaction=showfull&id=1…

    • Quality wise it should be the same as LG since the panels are LG. It's only different in the software aspects which affect picture quality, input lag, etc.

      • Thanks for the info, that said the link above does seem to suggest the panasonic is the best overall OLED for some reason over the LG in most categories.
