Who Else Is Sick of All The XIAOMI Deals?

Every second deal that is posted is an Xiaomi something or other. It's gotten to the point where I move straight to the next deal as soon as I see the word "Xiaomi". Soon we will have to change the site name to OzXiaomi or XiaomiBargain. Enough already!

Rant over. Thanks for listening.

  • +17

    But if it's a bargain… why not?

      • All the other brand you see daily too?

Phones? TVs? Cars? You see the same brands everyday.

        • +5

Speaking of TV's, when is someone going to bring in the Xiaomi TV?

      • Are you talking about Apple and the new iphone ?

  • +8

Too many xiaomi phone deals. They undercut Australian made mobile phones.

    • +1

      Your trolling?

      • +13

        You think?

        And it's "you're trolling". :)

        • +2

I believe FeRGan was asking if the trolling belonged to altomic. :-)

It amuses me more to see at as correct. It's the little things

(yes, I did that on purpose)

  • +5

We need more XIAOMI. Yes, XIAOMI! You must YELL XIAOMI!

  • +14

I'm fairly sure you can filter them out. I'm sick of this site being ozWhinge.

    • -8

I don't want to filter them out because I have FOMO and don't want to miss a good bargain.

      • +7

So instead of filtering them so you see less bargains you just expect people to post less bargains so the entire site sees less bargains.

        • +5

Correct. I wouldn't feel bad if we all miss out

“…some men aren't looking for anything logical, like money. They can't be bought, bullied, reasoned, or negotiated with. Some men just want to watch the world burn.” ~ Michael Caine from the Dark Knight.

        • @scrimshaw: Burn baby, burn.

    • How do we do that? I'd be so keen!

      • This may not be applicable for you but after clicking into a deal page there is a hide option underneath the report and reminder buttons. This can hide deals from certain users, shops, and tags.

    • I just saw this but yes, so much yes…

  • +14

Not me, I've set up email alerts for anything with Xiaomi in it, including this lol

    • How did you set that up? My house is now full of Xiaomi products =)

  • +1

    Me too!

    Xiaomi is taking over!

  • +4

"Why are people asking so many dumb questions lately?"

    Pot meet kettle 😂

Isn't it obvious from the vote count on the deals that people are happy with the products & prices?

    • -2

Yep, I had a feeling I would get this response. But it's late and I'm bored. So far 10 votes for YES so at least I'm not alone in my thinking. That's more votes than I thought I'd get.

      • +2

Still an absolute drop in the ocean

  • +3

I have a solution for you OP. A personal word filter.. If you're using Chrome, download this addon, configure it to replace the words "Xiaomi" with something else like "Trump"

Never see another Xiaomi deal again.

    • +1 for you, Awesome Solution! I just hope I don't get sick of the word Trump now…

  • If only there was a way to close the browser window.

    • I have a surprise for you, press alt+F4 and you'll find out.

  • Only XIAOMI, dum dum dumbi doo wah.

    Music to my ears really.

  • +5

I personally wish we saw more 80k high yielding investment cars from Westpac graduates.

    • +3

Extra yield if you sell the petrol to your colleagues.

      • +3

Even more yield if you sell it to other motorists at closed down gas stations.

        • +1

True, but just like buying a nice car selling cheap petrol to colleagues will make you look a nice guy. Improving your chances for further promotion and career progression.

  • +2

    post more xiaomi deals please!!

  • Do people actually import their pens? WTF

  • +2

    i haven't seen eneloops for a while… =(

  • I thought this was OzBargain, not OzXiaomi

  • Don't Xiaomi
    Open Inside

  • +3

It seems like Xiaomi product constantly get refreshed on Ozbargain because sites have discount codes that last 1 day or 2.

They get posted on Ozbargain then when the code expires another code will appear the next day and it gets posted again which most of the time is not cheaper than the first discount code.

Maybe there should be a cool down period for the same product (1 month) for these types of deals unless the price is at the historic cheapest.

    • Agree. Within the 1st 30 days.. the original post should just be updated to reflect any new coupons (even from a different seller).

So a search would still find the cheapest deals.. but it won't pop up as a new deal anymore.

      • Problem is the original deal will scroll away from the main page and nobody would see it.

    • You can select an option to have expired deals hidden. I got irritated with all of the deals that only lasted 30 mins or so but were clutting the front page for days afterward.

  • +2

    First World Problem…

  • I used to be when I first started frequenting this website (also did not like the constant barrage of deals from online sellers, had to stop ordering from those a few years back after too many items missing in my orders and one order not even turning up. But last decade you could go gangbusters on Dealextreme, have large untracked packages of assorted items and they would all make it.).

But I bought a Xioami Redmi 4X to replace my iPhone 4 and am now a convert, so liking the opportunity to sample more of their products (even if it is just consumerist desire for novelty items). I did just draw the line at a Xiaomi powerbank because I still actually have two working powerbanks (even if they are just low capacity generic ones).

I used to keep buying torches on a regular basis but there's more satisfaction to be had in actually using your (outdated) purchase rather than imagining how great the new release could be.

the guys who post coles brochures showing a 12 pack toilet roll on sale are just as bad. if i want to go and find brochures i will go find them.

  • +1

and theres the guys who look for condom ads to be famous in ozbargain folklore as they make some stupid repeated joke about oh yeah lets buy 10 packs to last me 40 yeras or what a pity they dont make them in horse

  • You might be getting sick of them but other are not. I'm waiting for a good price on two Xiaomi electronics I need and this site is like god send. Just scroll past them.

  • Post like these make feel it should be the opposite.. Let all proper/good deals in, whether they be gun, religious items, adult toys, etc.

When we get these types of posts, make that user select the types / keywords they want to stop deals from viewing here.

Lots of users want OzBargain tailored for themselves, rather than for everyone. Some people can't look past things that 'offend' them.

I for one, want to see all bargains. If a strap on is 90% off, I want to see it. I won't buy it, but I want to see bargains. #LifeUnfiltered

  • post more please

  • Now we need an apple hate thread.

  • please no more xiaomi………………………………………………………………….

Why are we seeing so many Xiaomi Product deals here? what is your experience with these products?value for money, Quality et all

Is it worth buying any of these products from this random Chinese company??

    • They're hardly a random Chinese company. They've been around a while, mostly building good quality products that try to imitate Apple designs. I'd consider them good value most of the time.

value for money ? does $1,800 iphone X sounds value for money to you ?

we need xiaomi for poor c*ntz like us.

  • Merged from A front page full of Xiaomi deals

This is a screenshot of the front page I just took:

    https://i.imgur.com/nOfdLB4.png

I'm a huge Xiaomi fan and own a lot of their products but it's getting one dimensional. I would like to see other deals rather than repeating Xiaomi products. If we can have a better way of grouping Xiaomi deals or products from chinese sellers that would be awesome.

    Thanks.

    • +1

Maybe by adding a flag to the vendors linked in the deal? : whether they are Australian or overseas based.
If overseas whether they are in US, China/HK or UK

then user can untick 'display overseas deals' or have these deals collapsed by default

    • -1

Actually think people post/vote for Xiaomi ‘bargains’ just for giggles when it spams the front page.

    • I see a lot of deals from Zapals, LightInTheBox, gearbest and banggood on front page
guess its good to have 'curated' deals rather than trawling through individual sites ourselves but i get your point.

    • +5

For those curious, here's the crazy ascent of Xiaomi over the last few years. The last few months should be even higher since they've recently started clumping multiple xioami products in single deals as opposed to posting them separately.

      • +2

Neat. How did you produce those graphs?

        • +2

This search matches the graph with 120 deals for Dec 2017, hopefully not done all manually for their sake.

        • +2

@awoff1: Yeah, it was done like that. I just modified the URL so that the page number was set to 50, which takes you to the last page anyway. From there it's quite easy to determine the total for the month. Just do that for every month by tweaking the URL/search and you got yourself a graph. Yes, I was quite bored so was curious enough to find the figures.

    • +4

Seems to be a strategy by these sellers to offer limited quantities at a price within a few cents of each other that has been "negotiated" by ozbargainers as a way of circumventing the posting limits for store reps.

    • +1

Considering I'm seeing posts all linked back to Light In The Box, previously on OzB, I'd see one "Bargain" from one website, then the post containing examples of bargains from that site.

This just comes across as straight up spam.

  • Merged from Let's Rename This Site to XiaomiBargains.com.au

Xiaomi are taking over the world.
Past year, i have bought a robot vacuum, dozens of lights, screwdriver sets and night lights, selfie stick…out of all those, the only thing I really needed was the vacuum…

Been noticing there's so many Xiaomi bargains posted each day… as of this morning, first 2 pages have 11 deals for Xiaomi products.

time for a name change to the site ?
    let the downvotes begin!

I'm only joking, I'm glad there is a brand that makes cheap reliable quality products.
what have you bought from xiaomi and never really thought you'd even buy?

    • +1

      Why?
That would be a silly idea

    • +3

      I don't own 1 of their products…

    • +4

      Xiaomi are overrated

      • +2

Just wait until the try the Xiaomi mattress.

    • +1

      Poll pls. Kthxbai.

    • +2

      Is is April 1?

      Already?

  • i'm actually disappointed that there haven't been more xioami deals for 2018

    • +3

I'm sure there will be another one or two Xiaomi deals this year…

  • I was over in Beijing and Shanghai quite recently and let's just say Xiaomi ads are everywhere in their train station.

Imagine having to put up with those ads on a daily basis with no way out (other than not to travel via their extremely efficient subways).

  • New deal… I Love XiaoMi stickers. 20 for US$1 with code XiaoMiLove. Limited to the first 100 orders or 6 minutes, whichever comes first (or some other random reason that the code stops working). Happy Shopping!

  • Me and my mates have been referring to OzBargain as XBargain for a while now. My problem is the amount of low priced junk that keeps appearing like USB charges and cables. Things like their vacs and other higher priced items are perfectly fine. Just my opinion.

Ide love to be able to filter what appears on the home page by price. So say anything under $50 doesn't appear.

    • +1 the stuff you like. The more people do it the less you see of the other stuff. Remember it's normally 25 votes for something to hit the front page.
