  • Bloody gut catch of a deal!

    Excuse the German

  • Been available on ebay for the same price for some time, using various 10% codes.

  • The reels don't seem to change very much. I bought one of those Shimano Tiagra's for about $1000 twenty years ago, used it about 3 times, and then sold it a couple of years later. They still appear to be selling the same model.

for this size of reel you better get CI4+, aluminium is still prone to corrosive from salt.

    • Funny how they make boats from aluminium then.

Must be some really poor quality aluminium to be prone to rusting.

      • Poor maintenance IMO. Its a great reel, and well spec'ed. You have to go up considerably in price to get any gains that make a decent difference. There are slightly dearer in between reels, but the 'improvements' are based on making a reel for a price point, as opposed to improving it. Or so Alan Hawk tells me, and well he gets to play with more reels than me so it sounds good. I get much respect from fish too because I know all that, they know to stay away.

        Its a decent price too.

      • it is more like corrosion not rust like steel. the finishing paint peel off make your reel look ugly.

Any chance BCF will price match? XD

    • I don't think Brisbane Christian Fellowship sell fishing gear, worth a try though.

Just say that Davo's Tackle, an Australian store has it advertised for $199 with free shipping and it's local stock and you should get a price match at BCF since they do have a price guarantee policy. And plus BCF does sell the Shimano Stradic FK 2500HG reel (priced at $279 which must be RRP, but you should get it for $199 price matched). They probably however won't accept that $179 newsletter signup coupon code price, usually these price match guarantee policies exclude the use of coupon discount code prices. Only the price what's advertised on the web site product page.

"We regularly check our prices to make sure we bring you great deals, but if you happen to find an advertised lower price on a stocked item from an Australian-based retailer, we will happily match it. The matched price applies to the competitors final price, inclusive of freight, taxes and other additional charges."
