  • If I sign for this discovery 9 being a 12mth contract can I:

    1. upgrade this to a Discovery 11 down the track say within a few months if it is insufficient for my needs?
    2. will there be a fee for the upgrade?
    3. Does it restart the clock of another 12 months all over again, given I would have already nee with you for the previous months before the upgrade?

If the answer is yes to all 3, then I would vote it is a good deal, otherwise I would have to reconsider, as carriers such as Optus don't have a problem if I chose to upgrade as I did in the past with them, although once upgraded I cannot downgrade back to former until end of remaining contract only and they do not restart the clock.

    Please advice, thanks.

    • I've asked this a few months ago and this is the response I was given:
      1. No - will need to pay out your current 12 month contract
      2. Yes - discounted to $16 for a new sim card without porting
      3. See 1. It will be a new contract for 12 months.

In saying this, their advice may have changed so this will need to be confirmed by the Rep.

      • +2

Hi - just an update on this.

        1. Yes - there is no cancellation fee
        2. $16 for the plan change over, which will take place at the start of the new billing cycle
        3. No - clock does not restart.
  • Awesome deal

  • never heard of this, is it good company with alot of service??

Just about to buy a iphone 4 on telstra $39 cap for 24mths but maybe i should buy outright and do this. shame it is only 200mb data though.

i hardly use my phone for calls so this would be good. i do need atleast 500mb data though and good coverage.

    • try the Discovery 11 or 15, 500 MB & 1 GB respectively.
      coverage is Optus.

  • If I order this with a iphone micro sim (currently have a regular sim phone) can I use this my current phone and then punch out micro sim if I get an iphone/ipad at a later date

    • Hi - we haven't got the funky Optus 2 sims in 1. If you order a Micro SIM you'll be shipped out a Micro SIM.

      • OK thank I'll just get a normal one and the cut out tools later if needed.

  • Last question if you order two sims, is shipping $40 or $20?

    • $40. Its effectively the cost of the SIM

  • Which network do these guys use?

    • Hi - we use Optus - both their 3G and 2G

  • optus apparently. it doesnt seem too bad. my current iphone 3g is with optus $29 yes plan which is out of contract now. i can get better value on one of these. but its tempting to just go with telstra $39 cap with free iphone 4 32GB as my 3G phone is getting a bit slow and i want the updated camera.

  • I've been eyeing on switching over to liveconnected a long time ago. Just waiting for my current contract to run out and will go in over the next 2-3 weeks. I see they've added two new plans to their Discovery series, nice!

Questions for the rep while he is here. :)

    • Upgrading a plan attract a $16 fee and must require a new sim card provided by liveconnected? I'm confused with this. I am assuming there is no need to do anything physical when upgrading to a new plan. Basically, same sim, same number, business as usual. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

    • How long does it take to port my number from Optus? Or rather the process involved.

    • Can I port ANY numbers from ANY network to liveconnected.me? (curious)

Many thanks. Keep up the good work!

    • Hi there

      Good questions.

      1. Yes - essentially its a different plan - and we are charged a $16 cost for the plan change, which pass on without margin

      2. It takes up to 24 hours. From your view point it will look near seamless - your Optus SIM will stop working at which point your Live Connected SIM will be active. In the background though its a bit more cumbersome - Optus port your number across to us manually - hence the 24 hours.

      3. Yes - you can port from any network.
