Okano 32" LCD HD $399 at JB Hi-Fi

80

Ok so It's not a name brand nor does It have all the great specs, but I think rather cheap for a bedroom TV.

Extended 3yr and 5 yr warranty is available for $69 and $99 respectively.

    Tempting price
but it's better to get a Full HD tv IMO (i know they cost about double the price but you get what you pay for)

    • cant tell the difference between 720 vs 1080 for a 32 inch unless you are quite close to it…..

http://hd.engadget.com/2006/12/09/1080p-charted-viewing-dist… (within about 4 feet, not preferable!)

Unless you're hooking up a PC and want more screen real estate.

          Exactly
32" work very well as a monitor and at HD resolution
          it kinda sucks

btw yes I have tried 720p movies on 32" HD TV at home
it's as good as 42"+ 1080p movies at a reasonable distance.

  • Nothing worse than a Chinese brand that try and make themselves sound more reputable by using a Japanese name.

    • +1

Yeh but they don't charge Japanese prices , you get what you pay for.

    • agree. It's true that you get what you pay for. But these Chinese manufacturers are kind of suk. They try to confuse consumers by making their brand name very similar to Japanese. For example, Japan has Sony, and China has Soniq…

Sony made in china even iphone too. stop trolling yourself mate.

        • Yeah, but Sony is made to a much higher standard. I didn't mean everything made in China is bad.

      • I've also seen SONWA. How blatant.

    • Can you get extended warranty with that?

    • +1

You can't, but as with all things Aldi you get a 60 day change of mind. Buying these cheap TVs is always a bit of a gamble, i.e. you connect it to your PC at home and find out it has scaling issues (overscan, no 1:1 pixel mapping) or suffers from horrible motion judder. JB will make a fuss if you just take it back and say "it works, but it's not as good as I expected". They will maybe give you your money back if you agree to buy a dearer unit.

Aldi simply don't care. You take it back within 2 months and they just process your refund.

  • the TV sounds Ok? a, No.

  • hyundai = $15,000
    nissan = $30,000

Course if you spend twice the amount you will get something better. Sometimes you just want, or cant afford the twice. a BIG +ve from me.

    • Nissan GTR = $160,000
      Ferrari 599 = $750,000

      Sometimes it does not..

      • hows that 599 going anyway?

  • but I think rather cheap for a bedroom TV.

No need to be condescending. It probably looks a lot better than the 80cm 4:3 $10,000 Trinitron CRT of not so many years ago.
A cheap LCD only loses on colour gamut, but so does the best LCD.

  • Im looking for a new t.v for my bedroom. How do you think this tv compares to VIVO 81cm (32") High Definition LCDTV VSLH32E7B at dicksmith for $399 with free delivery. I dont know which 1 to go for.

    • i will go with Aldi brand anytime. They produce high quality stuff most of the time.

  • Picked one up tonight (well my girlfriend did anyway) …picked up all the digital channels and radio channels …works a treat…the menu system is a bit weird and if you browse through the guide it changes the channel to the program you are highlighting so you can't listen to your show whilst browsing for somethign else which seems annoying..

picture quality is great and sound quality as far as I can tell is better than that of the ALDI one (which was reported to be crap in the ALDI TV thread).

worth it if you'd rather JBHIFI than ALDI and forgo the FULL HD…

Basically whilst the ALDI deal is on (starts in the morning) I dunno why you would choose this over the ALDI one…

    • First you said the ALDI TV is crap, then you say you dont know why you would buy this TV over the Aldi TV.

      Make up your mind.

      • the sound has said to be crap in the aldi tv. but i dont think that should be the deciding factor…
