  • :( wish I did not buy a 40 in last year (+ps3) :(

    • You and me both!

      Wow..

      • given how much premium they're charging for 3D sets when it really just is firmware +/- processor change: Panel remains same, lighting is LED but most people cant be stuffed.

so $1800 or so for a 40" really isn't interesting until they throw in all this freebie.

especially considering the AUD rise. TVs should be getting cheaper not staying about the same.

an LED sony of same size without 3D is around 20% cheaper, and possibly will get a ps3 by redemption. this is off my head from previous research though exact details may need updating.

please correct me if i'm off.

      • I heard the ps3-break this year, well, who used it?please, tell me .

        • Break-ps3 is a USB plug and play solution that installs in seconds, keeping your valid warranty seal in tact.
          - Easy to use installer and GUI takes you step by step.
          - Compatible with all production models FAT and SLIM. Supports all regions: USA, JAP, PAL and KOREA
          - Break-ps3 disables forced software updates and will never brick your console.
          - Supports all games (it does not allow backups of bluray movies , dvd movies , or past consoles games)
          - Backup games to your internal hard drive or external hard drive through USB, and boot directly off GUI. Eliminating the need for expensive blueray burners and costly blank media.
          - Play backups off your hard drives 2x as fast as off the blueray drive. This eliminates lags and glitches to provide you with smoother game play.
          - Open up your console to a new generation of homebrew applications. Load homebrew apps/games off any USB hard drive/flash drive.
          - Fully updatable with new features/updates by connecting PS Jailbreak to any computers USB port.

    • God dammit
      i bought a 46w5500 last year:(
      should wait

      • Upgrade? You'd still get a good price for that TV.

I too bought the 40 inch last year and am glad regardless (sold off the PS3) making my outlay about $1K. I've enjoyed my LCD alot, it still holds it's own, but I do covert a larger one of course but not at triple the price. :D

Seems like these deals come around every year now….

        • +2

          nah
maybe i should wait for one more year and buy a 3d tv that dont need to wearing glasses.
          ;D

      • +1

no regrets with my KDL46Z5500 during last years promotion and only $2k thx to a receipt posted here.

    • me too…and i thought I got a great deal last yr!

  • Been waiting for this.

  • Isnt GT5 delayed?

    • GT5 is still coming before christmas

the game is finished, they missed a blu ray disc production date thus been delayed by a few weeks

      • -3

Delayed because they needed to change the compulsory update to 3.42 to avoid piracy, don't be surprised to see this delayed again since 3.42 is now also playable from 3.41 Jailbroken consoles. See how piracy effects us all guys?

        http://muppet-modding.com/showthread.php?tid=169

        • +7

Ironic how piracy affects those who pay for software/movies.

        • +1

Weird, I can't reply to you mobius but I can to myself, but yeah that's what I'm getting at. I preordered GT5 months back tired of waiting on this now. Can't understand why I got -3 and you got +3 for the expressing the same sentiment. Funk those pussies.

        • +2

True DRM should be banned. http://www.defectivebydesign.org/

        • +1

All this is doing nothing to prevent piracy; in fact, it may be pushing more people over to the dark side. When will the big music/movie/game companies learn?

        • i just negged ya, so back to -1

        • -6

I just negged you housecat, isn't this a fun game?

        • +1

          i just +'ved housecat.. jared444, you're right; it is a fun game!

        • yes it certainly is

        • @silo & baeker
You guys aren't supposed to do that! hehe

  • +1

And which 3D Bravia is the cheapest that this applies to?

    • +3

Yeah.. the promote itself is not a bargain.. Need a Bargain TV to go with.. hehe.

      • +1

u get $1000 worth of stuff buying a new tv, how is that not a bargain?

that makes the tv very cheap!!!

btw this 3d model is about Sony KDL40NX710 $1900 which would make the tv about $900 minus the promo stuff u get!

        • +13

u get $1000 worth of stuff

Goodluck to resell them for 1K.

        • +3

That's only if you were planning to purchase the $1k worth of extras as well, otherwise to 90% of people this is a bonus, not a $1k saving. :)

Still good to know about though, and has made me very tempted to buy a new lounge room TV.

        • @neosin: "that makes the tv very cheap!!!"

Really? I wonder how many shoppers out there would rather pay $900 less for the TV?

After all, come to think of it, selling a 3D TV set at a premium without including a 3D transmitter and 3D glasses as part of the deal is like selling a car with a GPS device (also at a premium) without including a map.

Producers: "Okay, here's the deal, we've charged you for the extra capability but you gonna have to spend more bucks on our proprietary accessories in order to use it. Now, how does that sound? Good?"

Consumer: "Good? for you or me?"

  • +6

Can I just buy a tv then claim all the prize and return the tv? :P

    • Like + 1
criminal master mind at work =)
      haha

      • +1

I once bought a shaver, claimed the 100 cashback then sent the shaver back for full price guarantee refund when it turned out to shave crappily. :D

        so maybe you can!

  • +1

In case someone missed this important thing.

PLEASE NOTE: 'The 3D TV gaming pack' (KDL40HX8003DGAMEPK) is not included in this offer.

    http://www.sony.com.au/product/kdl-40hx800

    • Pretty sure that's a pack you can purchase all together and not the tv individually.

If it was, it wouldn't be on the valid list…

    • +1

The model you describe is the TV + PS3 already… They are saying that you can't buy the "TV + PS3" bundle and redeem it for ANOTHER PS3.

      KDL40HX8003DGAME RRP$2499
      KDL40HX800 RRP$2299
      KDL40NX710 RRP$2299

  • +3

Damn the TV's start from around $2,200+ :(

    • +3

As a guide from 2 online retailers videopro and webprice:

      KDL40HX800 $1,896.40 Videopro FREE delivery
      KDL40NX710 $1,899.00 webprice
      KDL46HX800 $2,590.00 webprice
      KDL46HX900 $3,675.00 webprice
      KDL46NX710 $2,480.00 webprice
      KDL52HX900 $4,350.00 webprice
      KDL52LX900 $4,374.70 Videopro FREE delivery

      KDL60LX900 $5,849.00 webprice
      KDL60NX810 $5,690.30 Videopro FREE delivery

I think all of these are DLNA certified as well so you'll need Mezzmo software as your DLNA server if you want view Videos, Photos, or listen to Music from your home network. [Other DLNA servers just don't cut it with Sony TV's or simply don't work] Or you may just store all this stuff on YOUR FREE PLAYSTATION. =]

  • -1

So if you send in the recepit to claim the bonus then i guess you can't refund the tv.. damm :P

    • copy it? :D

      • "The Promoter reserves the right to reclaim the prize from any claimant, or to request payment for the value of the prize as stated in Condition 6 where it is no longer in possession of the claimant, if the Qualifying Product is returned (and the claimant receives a refund of the purchase price) after the claimant's entry has been processed and the prize has been dispatched."

Just found this, although how would they find out? Would be a risky investment for me cos i really do not wanna spend 2.3k on a tv i dont need :P

        • +7

Um hello……this is fraud. You want over a grands worth of stuff for free? Seriously? :P

        • +2

well selling my credit history for 1k is abit too cheap for me, not sure about you

        • +2

Yes, it's possible the debt collectors may come calling if you pulled this stunt.

        • I'd be interested to know the timescale that applies to. If I buy the TV then sell it 3 months later, do they want their extras back?

        • +1

i think as long as the sony doesnt have to take a tv back to their warehouse you are good to go, so you could just sell the tv to someone else instead of refunding

        • Believe it or not, but retail stores get their products from a supplier (no wai right). Stock is also kept track of via their serial numbers as well as the usual modem number ;) It's not hard to imagine that Sony requests updates on which stock has been sold when they are sending out $1k worth of goodies.

There's a good reason why they take so long to send rebates/promotional gifts.

I'm also fairly sure businesses that do these promotions have fairly solid methods to catch fraudsters. Too many people think they can get away with it, and that its an easy way to score some free (stolen!) stuff.

    • +3

Damn, they aren't easily giving away $1000 of freebies, what a joke!

  • +5

anyone keen to make a list of the cheapest prices they can find for the qualifying TV's?

I'm have too many uni assns atm lol!

  • Christmas has come early!

  • What are the cheapest prices for KDL46HX800 & KDL40HX800? I am very tempting to buy new TV.

    • shopping square is selling for $1600 including free shipping if that is a good price.

Thats the first one I have seen anyways.

      • +6

        Be aware of the T&C's though;

"Lay-Bys and pre-orders (made before the commencement date) and purchases through eBay, GraysOnline and other online resellers not authorised by the Promoter will not be considered eligible purchases. Third party payment schemes with a Sony Australia Authorised Dealer will be accepted. "

Check that whoever you buy from online is authorised first, or you could be screwed.

        • eBay is understandable. GraysOnline is an auction house so you're technically not buying new from them. I'd say any store big enough to move a reasonable quantity of Sony products would be an authorized distributor. You can always send sony customer care an email to ask.

      • yeh it looks like they broke up the bundle packs to sell the tv cheap….look how much their 120gig ps3's are
Also some of these promos require the store to have a 'bricks n mortar' location to qualify , does shopping square have one

      • are u sure it is $1600 including shipping?

isnt it $1999 not including shipping?

        http://www.shoppingsquare.com.au/p_58495_Sony_40_HX800_Serie…

  • yea yea! free ps3 here i come! :D

  • looks like a great deal and could easily sell ps3/GT5 etc..

  • +3

Damn, before I clicked this I thought it was all that for $1042.75

    • You're not alone!

      • +1

same :) and i'm so cheap even then i was like hmmm it can be cheaper!

argh a made an accoutn strcictly to have this as my first post .
this is a good deal better then previous free Ps3 deals.
my bro got quoted $1900 for the HX800 delivered + 5 years warranty.
Its also easier to claim prize if u buy at the sony centre. Simply pick up in Store during purchase.

    • +1

Just read that about being able to pick up, very nice option, assuming they are willing to neg. on price at a Sony Store….

      • You can always try negotiate on price.
RRP was $2099 and he took it to 1899 with 5 years warranty,He gave my bro his name number and said to just quote that and it would be in his email.

I saw WOW had it for $1988 so Sony centre made a decent offer without any haggling.

    • wow.. so dont need to go through delivery?

    • +1

      @ Greazy Baush

      sry mate :(

      and thanks for the info

  • +4

Great deal. But I still maintain my opinion that 3DTV is the fad of 2010.

    • same

If 3d couldn't make it into our home since the 50s I doubt it will now.

Avatar just created a 3d buzz and now everyone is trying to make 3d.

However the flaw remains to be the glasses. How many people can you invite over for a movie when no one owns those expensive glasses. I think a good marketing technique would have been to make those glasses super cheap or the tv super cheap so people bought one and then decided to buy the other.

  • Pretty RAD deal I was looking at getting the game pack through DJ's http://www.sony.com.au/product/kdl40hx8003dgamepk for $1799 not long ago but deceided to wait to see the new promo's Atleast now you get an option of different TV's and GT5

Has anyone worked out the rough store prices on any of the models listed?

  • +1

"2 x 3D Blu-ray™ Movies - Alice in Wonderland and BOLT valued at $52.95RRP each inc GST"

You kinda have to wonder how much this deal is worth is you shopped around for the stuff individually, I reckon each of these movies would be less then half of that if you were to go to JB…

Regardless, a good deal if your in the market for a new TV (which I am)

Don't know much about these TVs but I could use a new sexy one, any advice on which to go for?

  • +1

I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love playing PS3 games in 3D …

    • +1

      ASCII fail.

      Lol ninja edit!

      • +2

I saw too! LOL! I figured HTML has just gone haywire, the formatting on these comments goes crazy if you use * for some reason. :D

      • +1

        @lazed & @sparkles - lol!

I thought I got away with that ;)

    • @matt - what's the best 3D game out at the moment?

      • +1

Apparently Black ops out in a month will be playable in 3D and is supposed to be quite awesome.

        • Wow…that would be cool. All you 3D gamers are too rich. :)

        • @Stix
(it wouldn't let me reply to you for some odd reason :P)

Not rich at all here, playing my Ps3 on a shitty fatback Tv I bought about 6 years ago for $200!

I'm still studying full time so I have bugger all money, Would love my first big post-uni purchase purchase to be a sweet TV though :)

      • +1

        @Stix,

Personally for me it would have to be Motorstorm 3D.

I downloaded it the day of its release and have played it a lot since!!

When mates come over Super Stardust is by far the most visually appealling game (fast paced action in the old Asteroids format) and the explosion when the pilot blows up is astonishing.

Wipeout 3D is good but to be honest I am not a massive Wipeout guy … the people who like the game will love this.

Pain 3D is a laugh and a half and with a few beers and some mates gets the crowd in hysterics.

I have no doubt that 3D is the way of the future for gaming. For TV and Movies … meh … who knows but once you play a game in 3D it is hard not to want to see all your favourite games this way.

        Cheers,

        Matt

    • What games are 3D?
I have a 3D tv but I've never tried turning on the 3D as I'm still waiting for the 3D-bluray stuff to come.

  • +1

Remember that, if you are buying a TV for it's 3D capability and videogames, you should get a PLASMA. If 3D is not your concern, LCD is ok but I still would advise plasma for non 3D as well.

    • I would be looking for TV for the living room of my new place at the start of next year, Ideally for Tv and Games mostly, with the occasional 3D for kicks.

What would be a good TV that is price effective but still pretty awesome.

I like the idea of a 200 Hz Sony LED, but I know it's not exactly cheap, whats a better option?

    • -2

And I wouldn't advise plasma. Consumes much more energy and its glass glossy screen reflects everything in your room - from lights to furniture.

      • You can get screens with that 'frosted' effect or whatever can't you? Or is that only LCDs…

Anyways support for the 3D plasma notion, plasma has always been better at refresh rates and changing images, and when it needs to completely change the image at 120Hz then this becomes a fairly huge factor.

  • so cheapest tv on the list?

KDL40NX710 or KDL40HX800 and which one is better?

  • So it will give you 4 glasses?

  • +2

PS3's are given away with everything these days. In the past year I have bought a Sony TV and Laptop and a HP LTO Drive and Server. All came with bonus PS3's.

So now I am a PS3 king - 3 of the 4 are still in their box :S

Soon PS3's will come with your box of cereal…

    • +6

Damn I would definitely wanna buy that box of cereal..
and you should've sold those PS3s while they were worth more! They're dropping now..

    • +1

yeah really.you selling yours for cheap?

    • +3

yeah. how much for your PS3?

    • +1

      yeah how much?

    • +3

      +5

    • +1

any chance you will sell your PS3 for cheap? =)

    • +1

"yo dawg, I herd you like ps3, so I put a ps3 in your ps3 so you can play while you play"

    • +1

hELLO? Did I hear someone is giving away ps3s??

  • +1

Great deal, grabbed it the first time it came around.

Shows how badly Sony is doing in the console space that they have to give away so many each year.

    oh well :)

    • +1

I dunno, I would've thought it's pretty clever. first of all, in 2007/8 by having these deals, they made sure they won the format war as everyone had a blu-ray player at home. Now they're going to win the console war by making sure they have high market infiltration of their ps3 console.

Who do you think the game developers will be paying to create games in the ps3 format?
