  • It's a lot for a seat you only use for up to 6 months, a better investment would be a 0-4 years seat.

The main benefit I have found is the ease of transferring the capsule from the car to a compatible pram without waking bub.

      • Yep that's pretty much it, we survived without one as you can usually unclip the little one without waking them.

Surely it makes most sense to rent these.

    • Yes - i rented one for approx $250 with 2 bases.

I slightly regret it since we will likely require it again and would have been cheaper to just buy one… use it twice and then sell it.

I considered getting this capsule, but they only score 1/5 for safety.

Went with the Babylove Snap'n'Go (4/5 rating) and couldn't fault it.

These are great things to have when baby is small. Hiring is a highly attractive option to consider if in the market though:

    • ~$100/6mths
    • includes free fitting

We did that 5 years ago, and just booked in again.
The mob we went through last time, came to delivery & fit it into the car.
      Highly recommend renting.

    • Which provider did you use?

      • We used & are using [Hire for Baby] (https://www.hireforbaby.com/) flemington, and it seems they have branches all over Australia.
Looks like there are plenty of different providers, based on a quick google.

    • Where can you hire from?

  • Capsules are great for newborns.
But because so expensive and only used a few months, its worth looking on ebay etc.

I easily found a good one like new, used for a few months, washed the cover, and re-sold for similar price.

Next step is a reversible car-seat, which you'll be using for a few years, and is much cheaper, so better to get new.

Most people start with that, because capsules are so expensive. But it is so great to be able to take capsule from car without waking the baby.

    ~$100/6mths includes free fitting

That's a great deal! if I'd found that locally, I'd not have bothered with gumtree.
Fitting is good, as so many people get it wrong without knowing. Make sure you have the instruction manual!

  • I bought one of these because it could attach to my pram frame but I'm three months in and I haven't done that once. I do carry bub in the capsule (from car to house, house to car, etc.) but have never used it in the pram. He doesn't seem to like it much - he's really squashed in it (which is presumably part of its safety/protection) and seems uncomfortable so I don't want him to be in it longer than he has to.
If I had my time again I would have gone with something else - probably one of the convertible 0-4 years seats.
