  • If you don't mind ebay…..
$1079.20 with PICNIC code. for 4 cams

$1013.05 delivered from Amazon. You have to add the 2 camera system plus 2 single camera addons as for some reason amazon won't post 3 or more camera system and above.

Better to split it into two separate packages anyway as that will avoid Import Duty. A single package of $1000+ value will be held in Customs until Import Duty is paid… unless the seller explicitly states that duties have been pre-paid and are part of the Shipping cost of course.

  • Could try and do a price beat via Officeworks too?

  • How good are these system and can the be used for outdoor security monitoring?

    • +1

I have the previous gen of the Arlo i.e. not "pro" (difference is the pro has 2 way audio). They are great. I use one outdoor one and one indoor. Brilliant, and they work. The motion sense recording does what it should and it gives you recognisable images of faces.

      • Hi Tim is it easy to install and setup and how long does the battery last for?

        • I installed four cameras and from opening the box to a working system, it took less than an hour. This is about as easy to setup as a camera network will get you. I have the Arlo Pro and battery life depends how much you use them, but on average I'd say 3 months for a daily traffic area. Charging was really quick though so not an issue.

        • @Adamiam: Hi.. 3 months for daily traffic area, is that continue recording or motion?

        • @songjing: That's recording the front of my house, so probably about 8 or so 30 second clips each day. That's only the one camera, most of the others aren't used as much and they seem to have enough battery to last 6 months or so. Arlo only records when motion (or sound) is detected, continuous recording would drain the battery much faster. The system is easy to setup and adjust as necessary (such as move cameras at a later date). The interface is very user-friendly and the night vision is quite good. You could put together your own system of cameras that would be better quality, but you'd have to run ethernet cable around the house and it would take more effort to administer.

      • Did you have it in an enclosure to protect it from the element?

    • +1

I have this system. They are OK, but definitely not 720p HD. They go a little blocky when motion detection is first detected for the first 1-2 seconds. It's the biggest gripe of mine as I bought a HD system thinking the video files would be 720p HD.

There is heaps of chatter in the Netgear forums about it.

Apart from that, in terms of easy setup/features etc everything was seamless.

      • Isn't it a bandwidth thing when it "wakes"? If it was a resolution issue then the rest of the video would also be blocky?

        • That may be the case….However even when recording if there is the slightest bit of wind, everything goes all block….It's a nightmare if someone is walking in front of it.

I have NBN/ORBI Wireless/Arlo base station setup 10m from cameras, single brick, full strength. Everything gets recorded to USB and uploaded to the cloud via their subscription. All speed tests are perfect. It's just bloody annoying. There is also an extreme delay when viewing the picture live…Like how is this possible when you are viewing directly through your wifi?

I've got my fingers crossed it can be sorted by a firmware update, but I won't hold my breath.

        • +1

Pretty sure the delay is because of the Arlo wifi setup (low power). I did see something about not putting the base near your Router, maybe that has something to do with it (I doubt it personally).

I haven't seen the blockiness in any sample videos in reviews. I'll test mine out over the weekend (just arrived last night) and see how it goes.

        • @nafe: Update?

        • @dazzywazzy: Spent the weekend doing other stuff so the cameras are all still sitting doing nothing yet! Will try something with one later tonight.

        • @dazzywazzy:

Got my cameras mounted. This came through today.

          https://arlo.netgear.com/hmsweb/users/library/share/link/8FE…

        • @nafe: Yep looks the exact same as mine….however go and do a test, walk fast up to your door then back again and repeat a few times, see if it goes all blurry…That's what my issue is!

      • Do you know how long the recording is after motion is detected and is there an option for continuous recording?

        • Continuous would kill the batteries pretty fast. You want POE cams and a dedicated recorder for continuous.

      • Is yours the arlo or arlo pro?

        • Arlo Pro for me

  • +1

VERY easy, my batteries have lasted probably 6 months now, and are not at 50% on the gauge…

  • Thanks for all the reviews.

  • This is not pro and I am not sure what the difference is but thought could be a cheaper option

    • They're completely different no point getting non pro at this stage.

  • I'm picking up an extra camera from Officeworks with the 5% price beat guarantee - $231.80
Best I found on Ebay with the 20% code was about $260.

    • where you get price beat from?

      • Officeworks at Hornsby. Website shows most stores have no stock, but I rang and they had one in a cupboard. Worth a call.

Bought the 3 camera kit from OW, 5% off HN and total comes to 835! Awesome. Thanks op!

    • +1

I asked HN to price match it with Device Deal, which they did and then I used my 5% off gift cards and bought the 3 Camera Kit.. Waiting for the pick-up confirmation before I head to HN. Thanks OP
