This deal is back again, earlier posted at https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/328753 which had expired. I am not aware on how to reactivate the original post hence submitting the new one.

Once you have made the purchase you will get a redemption code. Take that redemption code and submit it at https://www.privateinternetaccess.com/giftcard/U2FsdGVkX1-7Z… and you will be sent the username and password.

I paid $62.45 using Paypal as the payment method.

Unfortunately I don't have expiry date for the code.

been using this VPN for about 5 years now and have never had a problem

    • same, maybe even longer for me, works great.

  • Does anyone have experience using this on the router level? Any noticeable impact on bandwidth, ping etc?

    • not a great deal.

in saying that i only use this on my torrenting pc at home and on my phone when travelling

  • My sub is about to expire, can I use this to renew or am I going to be forced to pay normal rates?

    • You need to wait until your current sub expires and then create the new sub with same email and details using the voucher.

There is no option to renew using this voucher.

if you had a good deal when you first joined, you should still pay that price when you renew, at least they have with me.

  • Waiting for NordVPN 2 year deal….

  • You report the previous deal.

  • Has anyone had problems with PIA lately? I have trouble streaming AFL Videos and Network Ten. I'm connected to Australian servers and still receive speeds of 40 Mbps down. But at peak periods the buffering is horrible.

  • had been great before… but can't access geo restricted sites, any recommendation for other VPN that is not much expensive and has good HD streaming. I read that Express VPN is the best in that sense but costly, another option is NordVPN… any suggestion guys

    • IME Nord is slower than PIA.

      • i don't have any issues with the speed with PIA but the problem is they don't give any solution for accessing Geo restricted video streaming sites. So, I am looking for other options with good streaming speeds.

        • I don't get it. I've been watching the US Netflix since I got it a month ago, no issues

        • @evolver:
          From what location?

        • @Steptoe:
Sydney… we also just watched a movie on the Canadian Netflix which wasn't available elsewhere. The Netflix app must be closed and reopened after changing servers. PIA accounts work on at least three devices concurrently.

    • NordVPN is not great. PIA was much better in speed.

  • I just tried vyprn and ipvanish to stream optus sport in the UK.
Both are not really watchable :(

I wonder whether others will be just as bad.

    • I think we need some feedback from other VPN user's …. so as of now (VyprVPN, NordVPN, and Ipvanish stays out)

      • My scenario is potentially different though as I am trying to pick up an Australian TV abroad, which is probably the opposite way round.
That said, I suspect it is the same performance for you.

        • may be try Kodi, there are some builds in Kodi through which you can watch Australian channels as well. but again depend upon the connection speed.

  • I was with PIA and speed was ok my 10 meg connection would peek at 6Mb i have had much worst now with ipvanish connection will peek at 9Mb but during peek periods will drop as low as 2mb, for streaming its good for 1 device. Mostly better than PIA and Nord but not stellar if i had a faster connection it would not effect me so bad. I do mis PIA chrome plugin handy for bypassing work filter.

License deadline: redeem within 30 days of purchase

  • Apology for the noob question.
In the spirit of Ozbargain, I used free 60GB Windscribe (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/324910), instead of these paid services.
How is the PIA better than Windscribe? is it faster? what are other benefits if any?
    Thanks

  • So which free VPN can give better speeds and at which server/country? Maybe 5 people can post so we dont hijack this thread but it seems quite on topic!

I use the free 'Turbo VPN' app on my S6. Ok but…
My current speed drop results, Ookla Speedtest App.
    On 4G cellular selecting-
    A) Telstra 4G NO VPN
    P=34ms,15.4 down, 13 up
    B) Singapore server
    466ms, download 11.88Mbps, 11.0 upload.
    C) Canada server
    480ms, 6.6down and 5.0up
    D) USA
    472ms, 6.7down 5.8up
    Thanks!

  • thanks ..sweet deal..

  • Off topic..PIA kill switch is killing my net if i disconnect it. anybody have any solution pls..

    • The kill switch is a safety measure for torrents, if the connection to PIA is lost it will kill the internet connection.

I remember there is a setting to disable it.

    • I think Kill switch is meant to kill the internet in case the VPN stops working or get disconnected. What I do is after disconnecting the VPN I disable the kill switch. When I start need VPN again , before connecting I click on the kill switch…

      • Better to configure windows firewall to disallow certain tasks such as torrents when VPN is disconnected. I have it this way.

        • never done anything like that but I will have a look at it. how the firewall will know that VPN is disconnected now and it has to block torrent data , and again allow when the VPN is active… seems more technical

  • Cant seem to find where to enter the coupon code. I go to stack social link and it comes to $79.63 AUD. What am I missing?

    • You need to click the "Promo Code?" link on the Checkout page in order to enter the code.

      And it's still working…

  • What would be the renewal price if I use this deal to subscribe?

  • Is this promo code working for anyone as of 01st Oct?
