  • Seems great value. Uses optus network. Nice find.

  • When need to activiate by?

    • "Redeem by: 17 Oct 2017"

      • So, you need to activate the first one by 17/10 or all three by the 17/10?

        • +1

This is one-off redemption. Basically, just do it once.

  • what happens after the 3 months?

    • +3

You will be able to use for free just cant make call and no data

    • • Note that service will auto-renew on a monthly basis after the Groupon promo code finishes, normal prices will apply: $16 for the Unlimited talk and text plan with 1.5GB per month, or $24 for the Unlimited talk and text plan with 3GB per month. If you wish to make changes to your Vaya service it can be done through the self-serve option in the My Account feature or by contacting customer service

      • +1

Does this mean you can turn off automatic billing yourself, online? Whirlpool has a lot of negatives about Vaya and ongoing billing problems when you want to leave/months after leaving. (Does anyone know how to make sure you're not charged after the 3 months?)

  • If anyones interested. My Cashrewards tracked the order on Vaya and says I am due $10.

      • Looks like the cash back is only valid for the 1gb and not 3gb? Can anyone confirm

Cashback on Unlimited 1GB Mobile Plan: $10.00

        Cashback on Unlimited 2GB, 4GB, 10GB Mobile Plan: $15.00

        Cashback on 5GB, 15GB Data Plan: $10.00

        Cashback on 50GG, 70GB Data Plan: $15.00

        • Erm… This is 1.5GB. So if the cashback isn't valid for the 3GB, then it's not valid for the 1.5GB either!?

        • I just got an email on the 3Gbx3months informing me of a $10 cashback.

        • @nimaeryk: Hm… I received an email for 45 cents for the 1.5GB. Maybe it was a mistake, and CR realised early on.

    • Did you use mobile or desktop

      Or.the cashrewards desktop app?

Does anyone have an existing vaya number? I'm about to sign up and can put in a referral number.
If anyone wants to message me I'll put your vaya phone number in as the referral for the free $15 referral credit.

    • The OPs referral is above. (I forgot all about it, sorry.)

      • Its a groupon referral, not a vaya referral.

    • all gone :)

  • Thanks a lot. I just got one. A couple of questions, can I cancel the service 3 months later? Also, when I used the voucher code, I only got credit for the first month($16), will there be credits applied automatically for the following two months? thanks again.

    • +1

Their fine print said you can change that online yourself, or phone them.

I got it because $3/m is ok - but gee I wish it was with someone else other than Vaya. I've avoided them because of their atrocious record on whirlpool. Anyway, I was going to say I paid using Paypal. So I don't really see how they can continue charging in that case anyway, unless… I recently realised some paypal payments can be set up to recur automatically - in which case you login to paypal and turn recurring payments off if you paid that way too.

You could try cancelling early… as in, right after activating the SIM. But with Vaya's dismal customer service record, it wouldn't surprise me if they turn your SIM off.

But yes, you're SUPPOSED to be able to cancel.

Don't know about your other question, but I would assume that is what's SUPPOSED to happen. Anyone else know for sure?

      • +3

You keep records of communication to cancel etc and threaten to contact the TIO if it not done promply.
If TIO investigates a Telco it will charge them $1000 processing fee as well as fines and jugments if they in the wrong, So Telco will always try and stop your complaint.

  • Just fyi, when i signed up on the vaya website for the sim card after the previous groupon deal, Vaya activates the sim card automatically 7 days after the sim card was mailed out. Was hoping to activate it later on in the month…

    • +1

you should have told them it was lost in the post :D

    • +1

You're kidding… A porting out fee, SIMs automatically activated in a week… I have another month with Ovo I haven't activated yet and was going to hold off on activating this Vaya SIM until then. [Sigh!] No wonder these clowns have such a poor reputation.

Can you phone them and request they don't activate it?

      • Didnt bother trying after hearing about their customer service!

  • +1

Does Vaya still try to charge you a porting out fee when you port out?

Also, does anybody know how this will work if you activate the plan mid month?

According to their Critical Information Summaries : https://www.vaya.net.au/downloads/VAYA-Unlimited3GB-Septembe…

Our billing cycle commences from the 1st until the end of the
    calendar month.
This is a direct debit only plan requiring a valid credit card issued in
your name to be used during the online sign-up and activation
process. You’ll be charged for a full month of your plan when you
order your SIM card. If you join Vaya mid-month, your second
invoice will be adjusted to account for this and to ensure you only
pay for the days your service is active

I am very worries that if you apply like say on the 15/10 you only get the 15 days of October and then November and December and then they charge you full price for January ( Inshort only give you 2.5 months in value but the bigger concern is that you would be paying $16/$24 on that third month without even noticing)

I would jump on this if this was with any other provider, but Vaya have to be one of the worst telco i have ever heard of and their practice is just down right fraudulent at time.

    • +1

They're certainly one of the dimmest companies I've heard of. (Imagine how much more money they'd make, if they simply do business a little better.) It's not like it's rare, or new either… It's been going on for years. Repetitive complaints, the same mistakes and examples of poor customer service over and over again in online forums for all to read (even them). Yet they blindly continue making those same errors years later. What kind of fools don't learn from their mistakes in an attempt to grow their business!?

  • Thanks for this, was not happy with Yomojo no allowing you to use credit for voice/sms to purchase data, and having to top up unused credit $10 every 3 months or it expires. I only use data so was up to over $50, Only after getting pissed off and threatening to go to TIO did they allow me to do a 1 off purchase of Data with my voice/sms credit.
So after my last month with Yomojo I will try Vaya. Can comfirm have a pending $10 cash back on the 3GB deal.

    • Darn… So I could have had it for $1.67/m instead of $3/m !?

  • what if youre an existing vaya customer? can you take advantage of this deal?

    • just use new email and get new sim. I did that with yomojo for a buy 1 month get 2 free deal for data Sim.

    • +1

I think like with most telcos now, 'new customer' means 'new account'. But someone above said it's sold out anyway.

  • I got the last deal you posted ec, and tried to enter my promo code to sign up last night which was the last night of the code being active, and it have me an error, cotact Ed them but still no answer, if they don't contact me today will be pissed.

    • +1

mine didnt work when i tried it on the 13th, i contacted live support, and they credited the coupon to my account for me, didnt have to add a CC either since i skipped the signup process.

  • Does Vaya charge per a 28 or 30 day month?

  • Good deal, Jeenee you can get the same with 1GB for $9.90 or 1.5GB for $15.

  • +1

was going to give this a try and use my paypal to cancel the recurring fee, but you need to give them your card details to activate, not game to see if they do or dont charge that card for recurring fees

  • thanks guys,

I couldnt get the referral for eastern culture working - it kept taking me to the homepage.

PAypal also didnt work for me so I just did it on Amex.

  • Been so busy I haven't looked at this after purchasing the Groupon voucher. My last Ovo SIM runs out on the 20th October. Which means I don't really need to activate this Vaya deal one until 20th October. (But this deal says must be activated by 17th October.)

    1. So I should activate it on the 17th Oct? Or should I do it a week before, so the SIM has time to arrive?

    2. The Groupon email has a "View Voucher" button. Do I click that now, or should I wait until the 17th? (If I click it now, will it start the activation early?

    3. If I wait until the 10th/17th Oct, I'm not going to miss out using the voucher, am I?

  • Did anyone get theirs yet? Still waiting for mine to arrive in the mail

    • edit: nvm didn't even sign up for it

  • +1

I forgot about this (again). Didn't think the SIM would arrive in time to activate it, so I was thinking about just forgetting the whole thing. Then I read the groupon email. Which said you enter the activation code online (not when you get the SIM). So it sounded like once you've signed up, it's all paid for. But after I went Just went through the 'activation' process, it states this:

    Next steps from here:

    1. We'll get started packing your SIM and shoot you an email when it is dispatched.

    2. Once you've got your SIM, log into your Vaya account and activate your service - your log in details will be emailed to you shortly.

    3. Until your SIM card arrives, there's nothing for you to do other than kick back and relax, knowing that your Vaya service is on its way.

Since I can't activate the SIM because it won't arrive in just three days, does anyone know if I'll be charged full price? Or I won't be charged anything because I've already redeemed the Groupon voucher and therefore have already 'paid' for the first 3 months?
