    • Is it Xiaomi Air Purifier 2 or Xiaomi Air Purifier 1?

      • Gearbest is version 2

  • how much are the replacement filters? I have Innovair which only goes down to 0.3micron

what are air purifiers for? people in jails who dont have access to windows?

    • +4

It helps with people who’s alergicnto various things such like pollens etc. Thunderstorm asthma event happened last year in Melbourne took lives. It’s quite a good way to keep the air “fresh when you can’t risk opening windows.

    • Yes, that's who they're for. The prison system keeps the whole air purifier industry afloat, no one else buys them.

      • -3

thats what i thought. an enclosed room with absolutely no new air coming in filling with carbon dioxide. is alot better than having new air coming in through a window…. at least the carbon dioxide is squeaky clean.

  • Missed the deal last week from Gearbest for about US$122 delivered but it's currently around US$129 via priority line.

Love the xiaomi air purifier ! Beautiful design and very functional , definitely has reduced my hay fever frequency . Paid about $180 two months back during gearbest usual flash sale .

    • What are your hayfever triggers?

      • +1

Mainly pollens from tree and grass

        • Cool thanks. Mine are dust and cats, not that I own any, and sudden temperature changes. Considering if this will alleviate my particular brand of hay fever.

    • error

      • Probably user error. For me it shows up as AUD162.25 delivered (priority mail 7-15 days).

Do these work in a dusty environment? Or would they just get clogged immediately?

  • Can you use PINCH5 to get 5% off?

  • +1

I have one, brought off a random seller on eBay from china.
I've got birds in the house and it had reduced the crappy dust etc in the air… would recommend!

  • For those that own one already, what exactly is the scale of the air particulate reading in the app? Is 25 nice clean air? 10? Mine varies from about 10 to 30, but no idea what a "normal" reading is. Legend in the app calls it a "PM2.5 estimate". I just have mine running overnight when I'm home, turning off during the day while at work.

It seems to help with hayfever, but could just be a seasonal variation.

Mine sits around the same usually.

I have it in the open area of kitchen and living, and one time when frying up bacon and sausages it got a little hazy in the room, filter went up to what I assume was max speed and a reading 400 or 440, something like that.

The LED on front changes colour according to scale also, red for max, dropping to orange midway and back to green.

I think I read somewhere a value up to 25 is considered clean for PM2.5

      • Thanks for the info. Mine freaked out when my girlfriend started using a hot curling iron in the next room, too.

  • I don't own one but it looks like you need to clean the accumulated dust from the bezels every now and then. However, on the flip side, having bezels on 3 sides would be more efficient than purifiers with flat HEPA filters.

my main concern with this is the fan on the top. Can anyone comment on how large the top bezels are? would a child insert a finger there? also, what is the gap between top of the unit and the fan? In any case, it doesn't look like a very good design. kids tend to stick things like pencils, fingers etc. in holes.

    • It's got mixed reviews esp their purifying ability as the air sensors don't seem to be very good so they don't clean fully. That's from my readings, ymmv…

    • Look at the winnix 5300/5500 for quality purifiers that are safe around children.

      • Thanks for the suggestion. We have a daikin and a sharp unit as my son is allergic to dust and pollen. Daikin is hands down the best unit which comes with 5 years worth of filters. More than twice the price of this xiaomi but it comes cheaper in the long run since you don't have to buy filters for 5 years.

    • I'd avoid having kids. I can almost get my own finger in the top vent. My cats are smart enough not to try though.

      • Yeah toddlers tend to do stupid things :) is the fan high enough to hit a little 2-3 cm finger though if inserted thorough the openings?
I am not in the market to buy one as we have a couple of other brands we are happy with but just trying to warn people with toddlers/kids if the design is as bad as I think.

        • Yeah if a kid stuck his finger in it'll hit. Plastic blades though by the look of it, but there would be tears. Stick it on a shelf though? The purifier. Or the kid. But not both.

        • @salem:

I believe the motor would be powerful enough to do some damage, but yeah as you suggested the unit and toddlers should be kept in separate zones.

  • Thanks OP, bought one. Used my $20 voucher from previous ebay facebook deal to bring it down to $179 less whatever I will get back from cashrewards.
