after getting zero response from asking for an update, twice, i lodged a paypal dispute. They finally responded on 12th Oct saying that they will ship the item within 24 hours. and provided the tracking number.

I checked and the tracking number seem invalid, so no idea whether it is actually genuine or not.

Paypal have now resolved the case in my favor.

    • Apparently mine was dispatched on October 10. Where are we supposed to enter this tracking number which looks highly sus (lots of 0s lol)?

      • +1

17track.net is what i tried it on.

        • How did you know to use that?

I just tried and yep says

Item is not found at this moment, If necessary, please verify with the package sender and check back later.

        • It is what CAFAGO suggested using for tracking, in their email response to me.

I happen to use that site already.

It seem to be pretty reliable in showing what Auspost won't display on their official sites.

there is also an App called "Kuaidi 100" that can also show more tracking info than on Auspost.

It is a chinese app though and am not sure how good is the English translation for this app. but i highly recommend giving this app a try.

  • Mine turned up in the post today.

Plugged it in via a reliable card reader that I regularly use without problem.
    Get the Microsoft Windows message:

"You need to format the disk in drive E: before you can use it. Do you want to format it?"

    Click cancel and get:

    "E:\ is not accessible.
The volume does not contain a recognized file system.
Please make sure that all required file system drivers are loaded and that the volume is not corrupted."

    • wow Suprised that there is any one who managed to actually receive it, what was your tracking number?

please do H2testw(or other fake flash memory tester) to see if 128gb is genuine if possible.

        • Thanks for providing that.

Your one seem to be coming from Belgium post.

the tracking number I got is completely different: LX504015287CN

        • @ravescar:
Yes, the return address is in Belgium.
          The post paid box says

          "BE. PP 9852
          BELGIE(N)-BELGIQUE"

        • Mine is pretty similar, except it only got received by Belgium Post on 18/10, so it's only just left the country.

      • Thanks for the tip ravescar.
I googled "H2testw", downloaded it, and have set it running on the card for "Write + Verify".
Indicates it will take 3 hours.
So far, at 18Gb of write, no errors.
Presumably because I had already put a few files on the card, H2testw said "Warning: Only 127982 of 127995 MByte tested."
Beginning to feel I might have got a bargain.
All the same though, I am labeling it for low trust use such as transferring files, or in a dashcam etc.

          @CVonC:

Would you be willing to prove that absolutely? At serious cost to you, liar.
          You are are 100% wrong.

    • that is normal if drive are unformatted.

  • So I let Microsoft Windows do a quick format.

So I guess it was sent out un-formatted.

Put a few files on it. Seems to be working OK.

Guess one demanding test will be when I put 60Gb+ files on it.

    • You can't just put the files on it, you have to read the files back off it. The way the hacked firmware works, they will write bigger files than the size of the card, but it will just continue to overwrite the existing data as it goes.

      Use the testing utility: H2testw

        • dang, too bad about that

        • Program reacts to error message due to old Win limitation?
And you state as msd god, it's a dud. Well done.

      • So does this mean the 'hacked firmware' makes a 32Gb look like it is 128Gb? Whereby it merely overwrites for three quarters of the 'reported' size?
Is there a way to set it up as a safe 32Gb SD?

        • +1

You might be able to partition the 'good' part of the card and leave the bad/non-existent part unallocated. Never tried this myself but worth a try. OK to store/transfer music etc. but wouldn't trust it for any data you value, e.g. taking photos (or in your dashcam). See here

  • Anyone else got theirs yet and had success?

  • +1

I got mine yesterday and have been testing thoroughly. Also, I have checked through all my emails and never got a dispatch email. It must've gone to spam folder and it's too old to find. I used BlueSkyHarvest's one and got this

When I first plugged it in, Windows recognised it and I immediately ran H2testw on it. It then became inaccesible surprise surprise. I plugged it back in and did a quick format using exFAT. H2testw can write all the way upto 124GB but can only verify upto 29.2GB stating:

What is the next course of action? Paypal dispute?

    • +5

I hate to say I told you so, but it's just not humanly possible to currently get a 128Gig card for $14.

Your first course of action is to request a full refund from them, give them three (or perhaps 5) working days to have the full refund credited to your PP account. If not there in that time, send them a message that you will now lodge a PP dispute, give it one day, then lodge the dispute.

      • +2

hehe I always knew it was going to fail but I was bored and wanted to try for once ^^

thanks for the tips, will do!

We respect you for taking a hit for the OzB team :)

      • +1

Assuming the same when I get mine, I won't be bothering to request a refund. Going straight for the paypal dispute. No sympathy for people deceiving. If it was a fake branded item that still worked I'd be more kind.

    • Are you resting with ntfs or exfat?

      • exfat, windows fails to format it using ntfs

  • Got mine a few days ago. Here's a speedtest

    • run h2testw on it.

Think Tomtop should be castigated for this poor service - item not even shipped until 13 October and only after paypal dispute opened. Maybe Tomtop should be banned once more. Yes it is Tomtop hiding behind another Co name

I got mine today too - as others have found - it appears to be a 32GB card with faked capacity:

    https://imgur.com/a/kXmLv

  • Got mine. Same s..t as everyone - fake. 32GB available though. Send an email to CAFAGO <[email protected]> with a refund request, if not received till the EoW will open a PayPal dispute.
Well, a miracle didn't happen again, I'd prefer if it was 128Gb for that price, but 32GB for free will do too.

    • they responded to my email and want me to send it back -_-

      • +1

        They're dreaming… PayPal then.

      • I got a reply within a day but it was daft:

        Dear
        Thanks for your mail

pls try to save a file that bigger than 100 gb

Any questions pls feel free to contact us
        Have a nice day!
        Best Regards
        Jamie

        I responded:

Do Cafago insist on working via PayPal dispute? Re:128Gb TF card not as described. Does not work properly.

        Dear Jamie

I assure you the card is not as described. It is not 128Gb. The software I used to check the card (h2testw) is adequate proof the card is fake (see report below).

Copying a 100Gb file does not fix a fake card. I find your reply daft. I paid for a card that would safely save files of all sizes. The card sent does not work. Does the Cafago refund process require me to open a PayPal dispute?

Please make a full refund to my PayPal account x.

        Thank you

      • Mine failed at 121gb, but I tested at 120gb and it worked to use the copied jpg and zip files.

  • !!NOT FAKE ALERT!!

Mine failed to write files in H2testw at 121GB, having 3.48GB left, in Win8.1

I tested integrity at 120 GB adding zip and jpg files, all worked perfectly.

Maybe you failees might try repartitioning, and ntfs (for windows use). It fixed a PNY usb drive I had. Happy Paypal.

    • Did you repartition your card before testing? Or anything else we should try?
Formatting mine card in NTFS didn't help, same size in H2testw.

      • -1

Nope. I just put it in a SD adapter in a old dual-core laptop.
I do intend to repartition and use ntfs for using in a windows tablet, as I
think it might make it more reliable and recover the lost space (is this wrong?). BUT I am just guessing really.

        • There's no problem loading the card all the way up… it's getting back intact data that is the problem!

        • -1

          @senorclean:
Yes, tested that ok. I guess the best shot is to partition below the fail mark given by H2testw. Mine was 121gb.
Partitioning fullsize and using ntfs didn't help. I guess we get what we pay for, but may be useful, even though superslow. I might buy a couple more.

        • +1

          @soupkitchen:
You should run the h2testw verify as well as the write - I'd bet it'll fail at 32GB like the rest of us.

I've just reformatted to exfat and re-ran the test - write was successful all the way to the end but verify still fails at ~32GB

        • -1

          @senorclean:
I've copied two photos and a zip file to the last few gb's, I could open & see the photos properly.
Anyway, I'll run the test now with verify, and post tonight.

        • -2

          @senorclean:
          Result if your still interested.

but verify still fails at ~32GB

Yes it did for my test too.
However, could this result be from the very simple program 'h2testw' reading Windows functions, and interpreting them wrongly?

I will try two other systems to verify and prove the data storage capacity is there and works, but if someone can test on Linux we might better our chances.

1st try is copying a 30gb and x3 20gb truecrypt files to the msd. Then open each from the msd. If that works as I think it will, we have a solution. h2testw is not a good test tool.

        • @soupkitchen: Still interested :)

h2testw is highly regarded and has never let me down.. I think you're dreaming man.

The thing is - if there is 32GB of real storage on the card, there's a good chance that whatever small files you read back off it will show up.

I'm running f3 in an ubuntu vm - we'll see what comes up with tomorrow.

          https://imgur.com/a/hPdwH

        • @soupkitchen:

          lol.

can you just post a screenie of your full h2testw results please?

        • you actually haven't provided any concrete proof though, just your statements. where as all of us have provided proper results. then you claim the program is faulty when it's been used for years as the go to tester for these fake sd cards and that your methods are sound, true and disregard the majority. then you take the negs so personally….

Dudes the software I fixed a badly partitioned PNY usb drive from Amazon with is pwhe78.exe (freeware, Does SD Card partitioning).

    • +1

It's called Mini tool partition wizard. It can help with repartitioning but can't make it a real 128G card. My guess is that you just got a different not-fake card by chance. Can't explain why everyone else didn't though

  • raised a Paypal dispute and this is their response:

    Hello,friend
    Sorry for the trouble.
Could you please try to use a card reader to connect to a computer for formatting?
If there is no use, please contact [email protected] for help.

I reformatted mine in to exfat - unsurprisingly it's still hosed.

      • I can't format to any other file system but exfat lol.

  • -1

    NOT FAKE MSD CARDS!!!
h2testw results are misleading/wrong, or more precisely, some of you are holy-grailing this simple, dumb utility. This is not faulty memory.

Copy the files yourself, say > 32Gb. Then see the files are working.

Then taboo this h2testw utility when you find it's rubbish.

    • Not true.

    • +2

This goes to show why they get away with selling these cards - it is fairly easy to fool people.

I must be a glutton for punishment (or an expert procrastinator at least) - I've created a zfs volume on mine (gold standard file system for data integrity) on a Solaris server. I've copied over a few gig of photos and then run a scrub - it's already spitting out checksum errors.

That is - the card will happily accept data, and happily return something to you - but you aren't getting back what you give it since it's blindly overwriting the same 32GB when it shouldn't. \
By the time most people work this out, it's too late.

'nutcase' is the microsd card pool..

      • -1

I must have got the only valid card. I've tested all files to 70gb, a 2nd test, now copying multimedia over and all works. Oh well.

  • +2

Fully refunded. They offered a 5$ refund at first, I refused, they refunded in full. Ok then, I won't hate'em, but the fact they knew the card is fake and still tried to find a way to not refund doesn't look good at all, that not to mention selling fake goods and some very long postage time too.

  • +1

Offered $5 refused, now paypal want them sent back, with proof. How can I request postage assistance?

    • uh same! what's postage assistance? I don't want to pay to send the item back either -_-

    • Same here these bladdy scammers won't be buying from this mob again. Cafago should be banned after this. As for PayPal protection LOL! They can have the useless card but why should the buyer have to pay return postage for a fake dud item. Pathetic. Next option chargeback.

      • I called paypal and they said return shipping cost more than the item. So they just refunded it without me having to send it item back :)

        • lol I actually checked australia post and it was only $2.30 to send in an envelop. even so, I didn't want to waste time and send it back so I emailed cafago again and said I'd be happy with just $11usd refund (couldn't correspond through paypal anymore). they emailed me back saying they'd refund me within 3 days. they refunded me the full amount the next day.

    • Sent a nasty email saying am am pissed, never use tomtop or carfargo again yada yada , refunded in full. Just as well did some more testing and it crashed my pc twice - going in the bin, or maybe leave them somewhere for some sucker to find ;)

      • mine stopped getting detected after a while lol. i can't even physically find it anymore either.

  • Just putting in paypal dispute now. Not even bothering with cafago dispute. Hopefully they cop a large paypal dispute fee. Even though I was pretty sure this was going to be fake when I purchased it, I have no tolerance for fraudulent sellers.

    • when did you order this??

      • Back in September. It arrived sometime in the last month (I've been away OS and it was waiting for me when I got back).

        • Good thing the Paypal dispute still works. Good luck with it! Hopefully it's not such a headache like what some of us went through.

        • @CVonC: I've never had a problem with paypal disputes in the past, they almost always favour the buyer.

        • @macrocephalic:

Yeah but Cafago is baaad -_-
