  • zealmax, maybe this is an offer you can jump on, if your order got cancelled?

Oh God. Why would you use a capsule with stale-ass pre-ground coffee in a real espresso machine… shameful!

    • +1

      But but, George Clooney!!!

    • for decaf drinkers …… I have the smart grinder and use normal beans …… sometimes you have a decaf drinker pop by so capsules make sense for that one cup of decaf every few weeks.

  • Pods compatibility is great for me, means the missus can use caramel or vanilla Pods as well

  • I could be wrong, but I think the pod portafilter can be used as a naked/bottomless portafilter which are $100 odd from speciality shops

    • what does a bottomless portafilter do? I'm on the fence with this one, missed the em7000 @400, trying to justify the extra 170 for this. Pod feature is okay, maybe for the missus and her decafs :)

Makes it so that you can see your shot, tiger striping, blonding, channelling etc.
        Looks sweet too
I bought an old 6910 portafilter for $60 and a mate drilled it for me
        Online they're double the price

      • I have the em 7000 and am reluctant to upgrade for the occasional decaf drinker …. thinking an Aldi capsule machine and decaf capsules might be a cheaper option, and you can take it away on weekends.

        • true, means i gotta hold out for another good em7000 deal tho

        • just freeze some decaf beans, theyre nice before bed anyway or second coffe of the day

    • Looks like it yes, if you can take off that plastic thing at the bottom; https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/images/web/50039072_133378

Edit: can be seen in this video; the plastic thing comes in different sizes for different pods and are screwed on; https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tajuu9ZsspQ

    • But do the regular filter baskets fit into the pod portafilter handle?

      • You could go to the store to check

  • If only it was the Breville 920 on sale again.

Patiently waiting for a new one, in true tightarse fashion I won't buy until it's close to the last deal

    • isnt this cheaper than the breville even when it was on sale?

both ahve dual boiler and this comes with a second bottomless portafilter. which costs $100 normally

      • It is cheaper, but the machine is not rated as highly, nor is it the one I am hunting on a deal for

  • I asked about using the handle in an Em7000 …… seems the Em7100 has an extra function on one of the buttons for capsules …… reckon an Em7000 could be programmed to do capsules, but the handle costs as much as an entry level capsule machine …………
