This deal has been posted before but it had expired.

I was looking for a ZenBook and was about to get one of the current specials on eBay:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Asus-Zenbook-UX310UA-13-3-FHD-Int…

Then I came across the above deal. The UX330UA would appear to be a better and newer laptop than the UX310UA and is approximately AU$143.25 cheaper including delivery from the US. Note that this price difference accounts for the current 20% reduction and free delivery on the eBay item.

The price of AU$935.95 was the total amount that Amazon charged me at checkout (including postage).

I bought, then returned my Zenbook after I realized that the Type C is just for data. Cannot charge through it. Good laptop, but I would definitely check out the Xiaomi Air 13 with Fingerprint scanner. Generally at the same price with a much better GPU and Type C that does data, charging etc.

I see. Ready nowadays xiaomi make everything better and cheaper. Need toothbrush? Google xiaomi toothbrush. Need laptop? Need smart shoe? Look no further.

This would be the first Xiaomi product I own. I get what you're saying and it's becoming a bit of a meme. Nonetheless, the products are generally cheaper and better. Xiaomi is pretty much an OzB's dream.

I've bought MANY Xiaomi products in the past. I don't have any complaints yet.
My experience has been great quality products at very reasonable prices.

I was actually seriously looking at the new Xiaomi Notebook Air 13.3.
But the cheapest I could find was over $1,000 so I thought it would have been hit with an additional 10% GST on the way in.

      • hmm.. chinese store maybe more willing to help (ie lowering the invoice a little bit). no guarantee tho, im not chinese store owner

      • USD$788 here.

That comes to just shy of $1000 depending on the current rate of the AUD.

      • Same here. I have to wait until it moves below the $1000.00 mark and then i can pull the trigger. Looks like a excellent laptop.

Or maybe i should wait until i go to singapore or thailand for a holiday in November.

      • have nevere seen or used one but how does the xiaomi laptops fare?? Abit sceptical of a non typical major brand - asus, dell, lenovo etc and the quality/performance. IN this case xiaomi seem to be branching out to do everything but is their laptop just an 'ok' or cheap and nasty style product? Just a legit question - or are they pulling off some major stops with their laptops for the price to quality/build strength and durability? at least when you compare it to competitors or another chinese run co like say lenovo?

        • When comes to price/performance, Xiaomi have done a great job. One thing I can pick on is the battery size, the 13" xiaomi notebook comes with 40Wh battery, while his competitors like Asus UX330UA comes with 57Wh, Dell XPS 13 comes with 60Wh battery.

        • @O O:

ahhh battery life would be a big one. these days do they still do removable batteries so you can replace/add new ones? If so the larger batteries on the dell and asus would be a much bigger winner.

when you say 40 Wh vs 57Wh and 60Wh am i confusing this with say MaH capacity? in which case what's the conversion/rough guide?

    • I think this one can charge? Or do you mean the USB C port specifically can't charge? It's lighter too (only by 100gramsish though). Don't know much about the difference in GPU. From the link.. "USB 3.0and USB 3.1 Type C with USB Charger+

ZenBook UX330 features 3 built-in USB 3.0 ports and USB 3.1 Type C deliver up to 10 times faster transfer speed compared to previous generation USB. One USB port is further enhanced with USB Charger+ for up to 50 percent faster charging to USB 3.0 devices — even with the PC is 'asleep' or shut down."

I meant that the laptop can charge from the Type C. I can see myself getting a monitor with a type C which will mean that I can connect/charge/transfer all through one port.

The Type-C on the Zenbook cannot charge the laptop itself. I'm sure it can charge other devices FROM the laptop.

        • Oh I understand now, thanks

    • type c in general can be for data and charging correct? Is it just the asus zenbook where type c usb ports don't charge too?

      • The high end notebooks, and some manufacturers ultra portables have replaced USB with a Thunderbolt 3 connector that uses the Type C, but is also a USB 3.1,3.0,2,1 Port.

If there are other ports than the Type C, like a Micro, the Asus transformers will use the Micro to charge.

Other models releasing in the future will charge from Type C, but at the moment, the bulk of the tech industry will use Type C as the Creme de coup port, and use the cheaper USB board to charge.

Test the Micro SD slot with Micro SDXC - some Intel Atom chips have problems with certain brands. This is an i5 though, so it's fine.
