    1. Offer available to new and approved applicants who apply for an ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum credit card account. This is a limited time only offer which may be withdrawn or changed at any time without notice. Not available in conjunction with other offers, packages or promotions, or when transferring from an existing ANZ credit card or where you currently hold or have closed an ANZ Frequent Flyer, ANZ Frequent Flyer Gold, ANZ Frequent Flyer Platinum or ANZ Frequent Flyer Black credit card within the previous twelve months.

No AMEX, hope they're suffering for business.

  • A very good deal for those not meeting the $75k income threshold. Bear in mind that the earn rate is only 0.75ppd. The same offer has now been going for ~2 years (at most times). Cancel after 1st year and move to rewards for same deal, but only rewards points worth half the value in FF points,

    • If this class is the same as black, frequent flyer and rewards are different categories and you can have both at the same time.

      • True, one x Frequent Flyer and one x Rewards. I usually have them cross over each other for a time between cancels. My partner does the same:). We then maximise spend on the most rewarding card at the time. No Amex has tempered the earn rate, and I also have got the black in the past, where partner is only platinum so only used for bonus points

  • The fee is $295. Anyway to not pay the credit card fee

    • +3

Yes. Cancel it before it's time to pay the fee.

      • they charge within the first month

    • did not see the annual fee

Got declined the black csrd even though I earn more than minimum and credit score decent

What are the chances to get this?

    • +1

I wouldn’t apply, and avoid a second credit check. IMO they are very unlikely to approve an application after just having declined for another product. I’ve been told by other banks to wait 3 months before applying again after a decline.

        Well damn
I applied for Amex the next day due to the rejection.

        Sigh
        Now I'm cardless

I though my credit score at credit savvy was good . Hence .
But after that I check other website , it was a discrepancy of 200 points !
Tried the Veda web but it says couldn't load my score

its a pain but if you get rejected for one - general rule of thumb is wait 6 months before applying again. (with the same provider - but not sure if all agencies share data now)

ANZ seems to be the hardest for me for some reason but did the Amex go through or get rejected?

        • Go into branch with payslip and ask them why you got rejected. They might be able to follow up for you and get the credit card team to review your application.

I think it could be the amount of your savings and spending make them feel you won't be able to repay the fees. After all the min credit is at $15k.

        • @McBanny:

There's typically a valid reason to being rejected.

Too many hits on your credit record in a short span of time.

Not able to service the card. Typically 3% of the limit is counted towards your expenses. That's $450 per month for a $15k card. Combine that with your general living expenses, rent, other liabilities, etc. It adds up.

Poor account conduct. Late repayments, overdrawn account etc.

        • @AussieMark:
Yea ANZ seems to be harder for me .
Got declined once then once yes then now declined again

Still waiting for AMEX to get back on my application

          @McBanny:
I called them up and payslips were attached in my application.
Went through the application and the lady said "at this moment we are unable to offer you bla bla "
I even cancelled my westpac so that I don't have amount owing .

        • @TozBargain:
          No late repayments whatsoever
          Always in full
Credit score at credit savvy 700+
My last application was Westpac last year - and which I cancelled before ANZ application
Only thing shows on my payslip is salary packaging my novated lease that's all and I salary package my salary l.

The lady didn't quite understand how my maxxia work I guess .

Sigh - I don't mind being rejected - just the credit score hit .

Now waiting on Amex to see I'm able to get that
Else bye bye any credit cards at all .

Got my Amex ultimate qantas card approved without a bump.
          baffles me

        • @y_owez:

          congrats buddy

        • @AussieMark:
          Thanks
Sucks that I can't get a visa / Mastercard and lose out points on everyday stuff

  • What is the ANZ online platform like.

Is it easy to see how much you have spent etc

Do they have good app support (android)

    • +2

ANZ GoMoney Android app works fine, I can often see credit card transactions within seconds of a paywave, but that may depend on which bank the merchant is with. Solid and reliable.
ANZ Internet banking website also works fine, but a bit too much graphics for my liking. I don’t like having to scroll to see stuff, it should be more compact. I haven’t used any of the other banks offering for many years, so they might all be like that. Again, solid and reliable.

  • Just applied - thanks for posting.

  • Can't figure out how the travel insurance works….do I need to pay for the flights with the card? Thanks for posting fujitsu

  • I suppose calling them up is the most efficient way to cancel the card?
