  • Best one is available at Costco.

    • And the Costco bin runs on Eneloops rather and D cells

      • How much are they in Costco pls?

      • yes, but they are alright for me, I buy AA battery from Costco :) . They almost go for 6 months.

Why not just get one with a foot pedal? An LCD display on a bin seems excessive …

will these work with adult diapers?

    • Just tie the garbage bag around the waist and cut out the middleman ;-)

Can you please edit this? I know I'm a bit of a grammar nazi but this drives me insane!!

Grammar Nazi's Their the worst. Always Loosing, there temper over small things, but we all already new that.

      • Funnily enough the only thing that annoyed me here was the miscapitalisation of Always Loosing.

Guessing this is your first baby. Unfortunately there's no way this bin will keep dirty nappy stink in. Might be okay under cover outside but seems a bit much for an outside bin.

I've never understood the need for a sensor nappy bin…hands get washed after changing nappies regardless.

    …plus postage.

Oh and by the way "I've been looking for a good stainless steel bin that is hands free to contain odour from dirty nappies". This is definitely not going to do it for you. Three kids here, all thankfully way past the nappy stage, and that smell will easily slide its way through the lid of any normal bin. Get a dedicated nappy bin with those cartridge/cassette things.

As a geek I've been tempted to get something like this, but then remember that part of the time I'm putting something that's dripping juices into the bin itself eg a tea bag. So I'd have to hang the bag over the bin first (or wave my other hand over it) before it will slowly open…. in other words, I'll probably end up dripping (whatever) onto the bin itself and end up having to clean that more frequently. Not to mention replacing the batteries. If it opens as you approach it, then it'll probably be randomly opening as people walk past like some sort of hungry pelican. Easier to just use a foot pedal job, or no lid at all.

Maybe next holidays I'll do something with a servo motor, a bin, and google home "hey google - open bin" I could shout whilst walking to the bin with the chopping board of left over chicken bits.

Or I'll stick with the foot pedal. Yeah. Sometimes simpler is better…. ;-)

Simple is always better. I've bought a plastic bin years ago made for supermarket bags (Australian made by Sabco). I put two bags in (just in case there is a leak with the inner back) but only need to dispose of one at a time. Lid hangs on side of bin and I close it overnight. Easy to use/compress/change ie. perfectly functional (for us) and here's hoping we can source cheap equiv supermarket bags when the current free sources dry up.

Every person's house I've seen with a pedal bin (that isn't already broken) or undersink tiny container has been a case of style over function.

      • Yeah. Go the no lid here as well. Use the shopping bags for some of the bins, but the larger one use bags bought in bulk from Costco.

a servo motor, a bin, and google home

It'll be part of the Internet of Bins.

      • Wait until something goes wrong with your IOT smartbin and you've got to spend an evening or afternoon going through the logs….

      • Internet of Trash.

      • I'll call it "/bin"

  • +1

    No band 28.

  • My cat is going to love this bin

      Please dispose of cat thoughtfully.

      • Ah, but the cat may or may not be alive….
