3's a crowd this can only feed company

  • Thanks OP. Broke the last one as bread slices were too thick!

  • +5

I have this Toastie Maker and you need to use big pieces of bread. Little Coles loafs don't really work.

    • Can you double the bread? so bread, cheese, bread, ham, bread, cheese, bread?

      • +8

        No ,
you must go stagger ,stagger ,roll ,crawl ,crawl , stagger

        • Sorry for being so daft. I don't know what it means, but you've got a bunch of pos votes so it means something. Can you explain it… ??

        • +1

@eve:it's kind of a quote from the movie 'Yellowbeard' ,
Had a bunch of Monty Python guys in it as well as Cheech and Chong
A must see if you don't know it

        • @Beach Bum: oh ic ! Thanks, will look it up =)

    • +6

Looks like it makes huge pouches of burning napalm creamed corn, RIP the roof of my mouth.

  • Great price, thanks op.

  • so tempting… would love me some banana and cheese toasties for dinner tonight

    • +12

      Whaaaaat! That's gross

      • nope.. sweet and savoury in the one sandwich. but then again I don't knock something before I've tried it ;)

    • bacon and banana is even better! can put cheese on too

      • egg, vegemite and tomato sauce is pretty good also.

  • +1

This looks just like the old school style of sandwich press where the sides are always sealed.

    • +3

This is a jaffle/toastie press, rather than a standard sandwich/panini press. It's just a different type of sandwich press.

  • Good to have choice as opposed to the $7.50 cheapies

    • I have this exact one and it works great for the price. Plus when I cbf cleaning it, I just chuck it out and buy a new one.

    • Thanks for this.

Anyone got the kmart one? What's the verdict? I was thinking of making a sandwich with baked beans in it.

      • +1

Terrible, too small to even fit the slices in. We got it because I used to a great one years ago but it was much larger. Threw it out that night. Very tempted for this deal.

        • Thanks mate, saved me from buying it!

  • Got the 4 toastie version works great!

    • But not very OzB like when two of the 2 toastie models work out cheaper.

      • +1

Not when i bought it ;)

      • +1

I got the 4 version also and the time it saves not having to do 2 batches is worth the extra 10 I paid.

  • This makes quick healthy food for brunch and dinner! Use it everyday, even great for the guests.

  • Also have this, almost impossible to find bread that's big enough and the sealing edges are really thick using up way too much space, the old cheapy one took way more filling and hard sealed the edges right at the corners and were nice n cripsy. This one has sat in a cupboard awaiting the rubbish week.

    • If you're going to throw out, I'll happily take it off your hands! Im in Tullamarine, VIC.

    • You can get bread at any coles or woollies that fits good enough in nsw anyway. Favourite at the moment is the pumpkin loaf. I do all the time it works good!

    • Easy buy Hellas thick cut.

    • Goldmax cheapie bread.

    • I had one and experienced the same problem. It's too big for most bread, so it doesn't seal properly. IE most of the time you have an unsatisfactory toastie.

      2/10 do not reccomend.

  • +4

“4 slice” = two sandwiches? Yeah I’m so sick of all the one-toasty machines.

  • Anyone know what the clip is like on these things?
Is it actually better than the cheap ones?

  • +6

Was pretty interested until reading the comments. Thanks crew, ain't nobody got time for unsealed toasties

    • +4

Yep, was about to pounce until I saw the comments too. Thanks OZB, really good at saving me money!

      • Even better at making you spend it

  • Great deal, ty. Very good price. Having said that I doubt I'll feed a crowd with 4 sandwiches unless they're midgets.

Looks like it doesn't hold a candle to the Big One from Breville (which doesn't cut the jaffle in half).

    • +2

Yep, that's what I have - wanted one like my old breville from the 80s, that didn't cut through the middle into triangles, giving a higher filling to crust ratio.

The Big One was the only modern unit I could find that didn't make triangles!

    • +2

I've been wanting one for a while. Ended up ordering one from appliances online for $42 delivered after seeing this deal. Not as cheap, but I don't like extra crust in the middle of my toasties, the crust is the worst part.

    • +1

      That's the one I have.

I hate the ones that chop them in half as I like a whole slice sealed - fits more in.

Although it still doesn't do as good as mum's 1982 sunbeam(?) one.

The whole one also works great for egg jaffles.

    • I got the Big One as a replacement for my mum's early 80's breville. I hate that it isn't very deep and doesn't seal the edges properly. It basically just squashes the two bits of bread together. The old school one that cuts it in half seals really well and can hold heaps more (although doesn't take bigger slices - still holds more contents though)

      • Yeah, old school ones were way deeper, and held way more fillings…but the big one is the closest I've found in a modern one (and pretty much the only option that doesn't cut in half).

They just don't make them like they used to!

If anyone finds a better one (or a source for vintage ones!) please let us all know! :)

  • Jaffles : )

  • +3

Does this come with a guarantee the contents of the toastie will burn the roof of your mouth?

  • +1

    I read that as 2 for $28. I fail

  • -1

Remember you can add Gold Service Extras to the Purchase for concierge service and ongoing assistance for an extra $30.

  • Wish there was a toastie maker that had changeable plates to also be a pie maker. One less appliance to store.
This one has nearly everything else, but no pie maker..

  • I have this toastie maker. An FYI to any potential buyers that 'big fill' is a very subjective term. For instance, I can barely fit half a mini can of baked beans and a cheese slice. Any more than this and it will overflow.

  • When I posted this last month deal for $29 delivered I got 6 + votes MM posts it for $28 + postage and gets 60 + votes lol

    • +1

Thats because you posted a deal, MM posted a bargain :P
