Osprey Shuttle 100. 100 Litre, 2 Wheel Luggage $236.95 Shipped (RRP $389.95) @ Freestylextreme

30

I wanted a 2 wheeled large 'airline check in capable' tough bag. I figure 2 wheel is better on rougher terrain than a 4 wheeler. This comes in at 154cm (WxDxH). 3.7kg. It gets excellent reviews. The only feature it doesn't have (which some big bags do have) is hidden backpack straps. There is a compartment on the back, so if you're handy you could add some.

Buy the red or grey version for $236.95
(I had it in my cart for a few days and got sent the code L2R15 for a free pair of (no doubt rubbish) sunglasses)

I bought the red here (and they have a known good rep) before I found the sites posted above :
http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/au/en/osprey-shuttle-100-…
The code NEW10 is meant for new users of the site (but worth a try anyway). It gives you $15 off. However their price match guarantee is so horrible I can't recommend them now.

There's also a 130 litre version (Shuttle 130), but I think that would be over most airlines size limit and you might have to pay excess.

They're also known as the Shuttle 30 and Shuttle 36 if you're looking for reviews.

Grey 100 one here with code BMCWT10 (as found by xtremehuzzah) $257.59 if the freestylextreme one goes back up.

  • Some other good looking ones

This one looks like it just has the one big compartment and a full width handle:

    • If you're buying from webtogs try this code "BMCWT10"

      • Oh yes, that is their sign up 10% off, which makes the grey $257.59 delivered.

Just throwing this out there for anyone considering this. I literally just bought this an hour ago, it is quite similar but comes the backpack straps and comes with a detachable day bag. Good reviews from what i seen which is why i purchased.

Seems pretty well thought out. I like that it has a light coloured interior on a black pack. Got a decent harness and the daypack, not as big at 70 litres (I'd want the maximum check in size) and the quality wouldn't be as good. Caribee is kinda entry level of the brand name stuff, just above generic chain store quality.

      • I've had a fast track for 10+ years and still going strong. It's checked in on a flight out Australia as we speak.
Not sure about the Caribee quality anymore and I believe they reduced their warranty periods too.
The wheels on the case make it great.
I however only ever used the straps once or twice. So really not necessary.

        • I'd also consider the black wolf range. At a cheaper price point.
The ridgerunner and blade runner but also https://bagstogo.com.au/grand-tour/
Seems to be better quality than Caribee these days.

        • Wow, it’s 4WD!

  • I stuffed up the post again even after a mod fixed it! Not having a good day today.

The cheapest one is the freestylextreme link for red or grey at $261.90. The only thing is shipping is not tracked and I've never used them before, so I'd go with Chainreaction as I know they're ok. Forgot webtogs as I didn't even check for shipping (they bung it on as its a large item).

It's all good, we all have those days!

Another thing with Osprey is (in the USA) they have a lifetime warranty. I'm not sure what it is here, or how it works if you buy from one of these international places - very likely you'd be faced with posting it back to retailer for repair. The fact they have a lifetime in the US is an indication of the quality I reckon.

    • I did have that as the main link, but it was more expensive then. They must have dropped the price (sod it). Chain Reactions Price Guarantee is miserable - doesn't apply to me, only limited to a few stores - really rubbish. Reason enough not to buy from them.

      • Was able to return the Chain Reaction one for A$10.85 so I'm doing that and getting the Freestylextreme one.

  • I am currently on my 2nd Lanza wheeled duffle bag https://www.strandbags.com.au/luggage/lanza-classic-75cm-whe… from Strandbags after 10 years of slogging around mine sites all over the world that usually involves dragging along dirt and rocky roads to the accommodation camp. At $80 they are an absolute bargain and tough as teak. The first one was a canvas material and the new version is a polyester that is proving just as durable with the bonus of being lighter and more waterproof.

    • Certainly got good volume. Wheels don't look that tough or big (ground clearance), but sounds like you've given it a good beating and a good price.

      • Wheels have surprised me how tough they are. It does have a hard plastic skid pad underneath that allows you to bounce over some of the rockier terrains. Forgot to mention it is only 2.3kg which for this volume bag is the lightest I have seen. May not look sexy but gets the job well and truly done!

  • I just purchased this one for $199 + free shipping (+ add second cheap item to use promo code)

    • May be oversize for some airlines at 158cm. I like the split fold on it. Nearly bought it, but saw some not so favourable reviews (mostly on Amazon).

      • if that's your only concern there is a slightly smaller one

  • Use code FSX10 to get it for $213.25 until end of 23/10 at Freestylextreme

I got the one from Chainreaction (and returned it for $10 to get it from Freestlextreme) - really nice bag. The wheels particularly look very good.
