PREORDER Vernee Mix 2 6" Bezel-less Phablet, $169.99 USD (~$213.14 AUD) @GearBest

110

Maybe not have complete parity between this and other flagships like LG V30, Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 or Galaxy S8 and this is only a pre-order atm too, but for the price this is an excellent phone. Has the usual Helio P25 Octacore CPU and 4GB ram you can expect in these Chinese phones, but has 13mp Sony IMX sensor with dual camera, 6" screen size in 5.5" formfactor, 2160x1080p screen (to accommodate the changed aspect ratio) and is actually 18:9 rather than 16:9 or 17:9 like some of those other Chinese phones that call themselves "bezel-less".

Also the blue colour is really striking and different, phone runs Vernee OS based on 7.0 and should be too much of a big, it also has 64 of storage which is pretty necessary these days. Other specs are 4200mah battery with quick charge and a full Gorilla Glass glass body and back.

Personally I like it anyway, would make a great backup phone if you didn't want it for a daily driver though I really don't see how this is so much inferior to other flagships like everyone says. The build quality looks great too compared to how these sorts of phones used to be, though it couldn't hurt to wait for reviews before taking the plunge.

    No band 28….

    • +2

Should be in the title of every mobile deal posted so I don't have to waste time but thanks for correcting that omission in the first comment.

    • What's that mean? I know it's a network band but…

Band 28 is one of the 4GX 700/800MHz bands that Telstra uses. They use a combination of band 7 and band 28 to give you multiple upload/download streams.

    Mediatek tho.

If it had at least a snapdragon 625 it would be worth a look.

    • Yeah I understand what you mean.

  • Does this have a notification led?

  • No 3g 850mhz. No voice calls for telstra users, or do they have VoLTE now?

Pre-ordering a generic Chinese brand sounds like a terrible idea. There are a multitude of potential annoyance/issues that crop up with smartphones.

If brands like these are starting to crank out bezel-less models then odds are in a few months you will be spoilt for choice.

If you want bezel-less at this price point, wait until then and choose the best reviewed.

    • And the renders are usually nothing like the final product. Final product photos are usually photoshopped.

    • i believe Vernee is a decenet up and comer in the chinese phone world

      • these up and coming brands should include global bands not just chinese, if motorola / lenovo , samsung, apple, huawei and lots of others can put in the bands we use in australia , it must be other brands don’t support australian users.

Why would anyone ever deviate from purchasing a Xiaomi mi a1 if they're looking for a budget phone?

Not only is Xiaomi reputable, but it's also a joint venture between Google and Xiaomi.

    • That actually looks like a pretty decent phone. Good range of features.

      • Really the only thing I dislike that it has capacitive buttons (wtf? in 2017?!) and the buttons are reversed to stock Android (haha, how on Earth could this happen while RUNNING stock Android?!)

        • The galaxy S8 has capacitive buttons and it's probably the biggest release of the year. So does the LG V30 and many other phones plus when you go to the 18:9 aspect ratio the vertical pixel count goes up a lot and doesn't leave room for hardware buttons on the front (hence why people like this because it's higher screen to body ratio which is about 93% for this phone.

        • @MrSammyMcG: You may want to rethink what you wrote there buddy. Capacitive buttons ≠ onscreen buttons.

    • Yeah but does it have a bezel-less display? I honestly this phone is great for any price other than the MediaTek chip which is honestly garbage.

      • Meanwhile, the Xiaomi has stock Android, and has incredible media coverage online, with all outlets agreeing that it's a fantastic phone.

This is also a PREORDER for godsake. There's no way this thing is going to run out of stock, so there's really no reason to not wait for it to release first and check the reviews.

        I also can't find a single non-render image of this phone…

        • Yeah well I'm waiting. I just thought it looked nice and it does look (physical design) a lot prettier than the Xiaomi phone and I assume this one has probably better specs. Not everyone can afford an S8/ Note 8/ Essential phone or whatever. They're all like $700+ which is too expensive in my opinion.

      • mediatek / snapdragon ….. if you get the version of android you want it just works …. only an issue if people are refashing with custom roms and looking for other then ota updates.

and badly cut software , makes no difference which soc you have if the code is badly cut.

Big annoyance with the A1 is how it is essentially a redmi note 4, but costs 30% more and has 25% less battery capacity.

      • Yeah exactly, thought the xiaomi a1 (5x) has gorilla glass which for me is a big plus.
I only upgrade my phone when my current one dies, gorilla glass is a must for me as it's bound to take a few pumps.

  • Does It have quick charge?

    • Yes 4200mah with quickcharge.

Price has dropped to $213, now that's a good price

    • Thanks I'll update the title.
