It's interesting that they claim to wash 40 cars a day.

    11 000 cars in 2017 x mid-range package ($49) = Upwards of half a million dollars… I need to get in on this.

Not how much you turn over, its how much you keep…

So how will they get dirt off without scratching?

A fully equipped washing hero will come to you and wash your car.

Will he be wearing lycra tights with his underwear outside?

    • And when booking the service will there be sample photos of the wipe heroes and maybe a short list of their hobbies and other stats?

    • I want to know how they wash the car without water

      • +1

I think the hero uses their lycra tights to wipe the dirt away.

I think, as I recall from biology class… the cleaning is done from the secretions of the preen gland. A waterless carwasher will typically transfer preen oil to the car during washing its beak and head against the gland opening and then rubbing the accumulated oil on the car body.

Looks good, but locations seem limited:
    https://www.wipehero.com.au/locations

    • But don't they come to you?

      • Yeah, there's a section on the homepage called "WipeHero in your Area" where you enter your address to see if you're in the coverage area. I've tried a few addresses around the eastern suburbs of Melbourne but none of them are in the area, unfortunately.

    • I think they serve locations outside this list though (in and around Sydney at least). I'm at postcode 2135 (Strathfield) and was able to book a wash.

I doubt their scratch free claims, just using a bit of any spray doesn't create enough of a barrier especially with no pre-rinse or such to get rid of more dust.

I think these services are for people that don't understand that swirl marks are actually scratches.

People that do care will wash their own cars or own a car that cost more than most houses and can afford to get their cars truly professionally scratch free washed.

      • If you know a thing or two about swirls, you probably aren't their intended audience anyway regardless of cost.

        • Yep I hand wash my car and when I take it for a service or such I specifically ask them not to wash it as they'll damage my paint. When I took my car to the dealer for their free checkup they were boasting getting an auto wash soon… yeah no.

But still, if they claim it doesn't scratch and it leaves swirls, its misleading advertising. I suspect they will just have a lot of wax in their magic spray to temporarily hide scratches.

I can do it by myself with rinse-free washing liquid…

  • I drive a silver car so that I don't have to wash it.

  • As others have mentioned - a terrible idea. Never wash your car without water. Ever.

    • What about if we run out of water?

      • Interesting question. During water restrictions in Melbourne a few years ago, washing cars wasn't allowed. I ignored the restrictions myself, but I shudder to think of the damage done to other people's cars who avoided the use of water.

        • Not true. Washing was allowed with pressure washers or with recycled water.

        • @kahn:

Nope, under the harshest restrictions, which were stage 4, any kind of car washing was banned, even with pressure washers. As you mentioned, the only way you could do it was if you had tank water on your property, which most people don't.

        • @MrZ:
          I just looked it up.

"You can wash the windows, mirrors, lights, registration plates and for spot removing corrosive substances of your car, boat or other vehicle at home; or at a commercial car wash, using a bucket or watering can, and only where cleaning is required for health and safety reasons, safety hazard or other emergency."

As if anyone followed that restriction :-P I honestly remember it being allowable with recycled water like with your own tank or at a commercial car wash.

  • This isn't a national deal, please put states in the title.

  • ive tried, the wash was great. got a full detail for $39. they came to my house and spent three hours cleaning my car

Three hours' work plus travel time for $39. Sounds like a great job to me. Any vacancies?

      • Dominos/7-11 pays maybe a third of that! So it's a progression

        • -1

          Hooray for the minimum wage!

      • i doubt thats what they pay their staff, probably copping loss to get the word out…

        • -1

Even if your beliefs are true, there's no way they would usually take three hours to do someone's car. I can only imagine how bad your interior was. Are we talking pet hair everywhere? Rubbed-in sand? Making a loss to attract customers like that is just bad business.

I concur with MrZ's comment above about never washing a car without water. Technically, you can get away with it if your car is only a little dusty and you know what you're doing, but otherwise it is to be avoided. I'm struggling to understand how anyone, such as yourself, can recommend such a thing. Even if we disregard the issue about labour cost, there's no way they can clean a dirty exterior without heavily marring the paint. The dirt that they remove has to go somewhere. And how exactly are they going to clean tyres and rims without water? Spray acid-based cleaner and spread the dirt around then spray on some silicone tyre shine? What a joke!

In my opinion, this service should only attract people who:
          1. Wish to exert the least amount of effort to have their car "cleaned"
          2. Have a filthy interior that hasn't been cleaned in months
          3. Do not care about or have awareness of paint swirl marks.

probably trying to use the rest of their "FW1 High Performance Cleaning Wash & Wax" spray that failed to sell at servos and supermarket carparks

    • Possibly they purchased a lifetime supply and they had to setup a business washing cars to get their money back.

      • yeahh thats messed up. that stuff is also selling on ebay lol

  • Better deal on LivingSocial which usually has a 15% off code
