Issue w/ Westpac Altitude Black QFF 100,000 Offer from 2016/2017

Initially when I signed up for this card, I was under the impression that I was signing up for the QFF 100k points ($5,000 spend). Confirmed with Westpac via Facebook chat.

After a few months of signing up, I called Westpac to find out when I would receive my points and was told i would receive them in 2 lots. Ok, patience…

7 Statements later (today), I call them again to find out where my points are. I have been told that I would not qualify for these points as the "code" on my signup is only eligible for 50,000 QFF + Benefits… these benefits, even if you can call them that are 6 months interest free. What a tonne of shit.

What the F#!k!? I've escalated the issue to the product manager… however, has this happened to anyone else? If so, what was the outcome?

  • Huh? was this the 100K but annual fee is $395 deal?

    I signed up for this deal in June, and from memory it was always 80K bonus with 5K spend, within 3 months. I signed up in June and done the 5k just shy of the 2 month period. Have yet to receive the bonus (called last month) and today is my end of cycle. Will update if I got 80K.

    Did you save a copy of the T&C?

    • i signed up the exact same deal in May - yet to receive the points.

    • I signed up on the 27th February 2017 for 100,000 QFF, $5000 minimum spend 90 days, $395 fee. The offer was advertised on Point Hacks, Finder.com.au and I confirmed with Westpac customer service via facebook chat.

  • Is this the deal you signed up for?

    It says only 50k points for existing Westpac customers or anyone who didn't use the Points Hacks specific link. Could this be the reason?

    • I've never been a member at Westpac and the deal was with finder.com.au as well so it wasn't purely exclusive to Point Hacks at the time. The deal was extended to 31st March 2017.

  • I have had a similar issue happen where the card was meant to be interest free in the 1st 6 months. After that promo ran out (offer date) I rang to check up on a few things. No one I talked to had any idea what I was talking about and kept saying they don't have any knowledge of that deal and the current one is bla bla bla. I don't know if they play dumb or just have no idea/record of previous promos people have signed up for.

    What I found easiest was go into a branch and speak with a banker. They seemed to actually want to help me rather than anyone on the phone.

    • If you don't mind me asking, what was the conclusion?

      • The banker reversed all chargers then and there and was getting someone to look into why it happened. I've gone back to them every time for anything since. If you are near sherwood pm me and I'll give you their contacts

    You must be a very patient person to have waited 7 statement cycles! I would have lodged a written complaint after 3 statements for breaching the T&Cs and then escalate it to FOS.

  • Did you actually use the link from said pointshack ad etc? From what I understand it was a partner deal and from memory was only for the first 5000 cards?

    An update on my status: 2 1/2 months since meeting minimum requirement spend still nothing today. Just from last month's spending. Getting anxious.

      Anyway I called Altitude Rewards today to put through another enquiry/complaint/vent my dissatisfaction and they said they had no record of my call yesterday to Westpac… /laugh

      They do have records of me calling them asking about the points in May 2017 so hopefully something will work.

    I read the T&C's and I believe I'm eligible for the offer. 9 weeks after approval I still haven't received the 20,000 points which should apparently be credited within 8 weeks of approval.

    I would like to find a cached version of the original offer from Westpac so I can re-read the offer but I can't find one.

    • The bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your points balances as follows: 20,000 point within 8 weeks of card approval

      'your points balance' is not your qff account. It's your points balance in Westpac. Then once a month they sweep points balances into your qff account. You may have to wait another few weeks to see your points in qff.

        • I haven't checked online, but it shows on each statement.

          Otherwise you could call Westpac and find out

    • I also signed up for this, just saw the statement with 20,000 points in it. Nervously waiting for the 80,000 points. That's why i came to ozbargain to search "westpac altitude black"

        • Westpac terms clearly say "8 weeks after card approval" - so after 8 weeks they will be shown on your next Westpac statement. If you haven't yet received your Westpac statement post 8 weeks after approval, then wait patiently. If you have received said statement and the 20k points aren't there then give Westpac a call immediately

        • @tomclancy: over 8 weeks but not on the latest statement.. tried calling earlier was put on hold and 4x passed to other agents then the last one just hangs up.. outrageous customer service.. PM'ed on FB then told them to ring me so now patiently waiting

        • @melay0326: When they call you back definitely get up them. If need be mention the Financial Industry Ombudsman (https://www.fos.org.au/) and watch how fast they react.

  • Does anyone have a copy of the T&C's, 3 statements later and no sign of the 20,000 points or 80,000 points.

  • I have the same issue. Applied in mid July, no bonus points received. On phone to westpac now. They confirmed I did the 5K spend in 3months, but they can't tell me exactly how or when I will get the points. They then transferred me to qantas saying its there issue, not west pacs. Not happy. Will go into local westpac and see how i go there.

      I received the first 20,000 in the first statement and the remaining 80,000 in the second after spending more than the $5000 required. Strange they are so inconsistent.
