WBC Altitude Black CC Reduced 1st Annual Fee $195, 80,000 QFF Points + Additional 20,000 Bonus on Approval (8wks)

450

It is time to for me to ditch the ANZ ($75,000- no 1st annual fee deal) for the next 12 months. This deal which started yesterday shows up on Qantas and I am considering it:

I think you must apply through the Qantas site.

The bonus points promotion is available when you apply for a new Westpac Altitude Black card between 4 September and 26 October 2017, choose Altitude Qantas as your rewards program on the card. The bonus Qantas Points will be credited to your points balances as follows: 20,000 point within 8 weeks of card approval and 80,000 points within 12 weeks after the eligible spend criteria being met. Spend criteria is a minimum amount of $5,000 on eligible purchases within 90 days from card approval. Eligible purchases do not include fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, BPAY, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account. In order to be eligible, the account must be open and not in arrears at the time of crediting points. You must be a member of the Qantas Frequent Flyer program to earn Qantas Points. The bonus points depend on your choice of Rewards Program. Switches, upgrades and existing packaged cards are ineligible. This promotion is not available in conjunction with any other promotion. Existing Westpac customers who currently hold an Altitude Platinum or Altitude Black credit card, or who have held one in the last 12 months, are not eligible for this offer.

  • I have a qantas black, can i get this too?

  • Well that sucks. Got this card a week ago… with the original 80k offer at least but still. An extra 20k of points for nothing would have been nice.

    • $195?

      • Yep.

    • same here… sucks

Hmm damn me too. I might write to Westpac to see if they can honour this..!

      • If you do, let us know how you go.

        • bump - interested in this too.

  • 100k QFF pts for $195 is decent value.

It's on the better end of the CC fee to points ratio scale.

I got the old offer back in march with under 60k income. Might be because my pay goes into a westpac account… Ymmv

I'm on the bridge of that and had it approved no problem, they also asked about household income I think and that helped.
Do also have pay into account

  • Can you buy woolworths wish gift cards via cashrewards to meet minimum spend criteria? The exclusion says cash equivalent transactions, what are these exactly?

    • +1

I couldn't say for sure, but i know on my end, they come up as woolworths when you buy them, so i'd think it would be ok. i'd say they are trying to count out cash advances, or deposits into sports betting apps etc.

Shouldn't be a problem, I've purchased WOW gift cards previously to fulfill minimum spend with my other card and it worked. That was for my DJ AMEX and even got 3 points per dollar for spending at a "supermarket".

  • "Two complimentary Qantas Club Lounge invitations every year# after your first spend on selected Qantas products and services~ in Australia"

Is this new?? Do not recall the bank credit cards having this requirement(like the amex issued ones do)

    • i believe westpac has had this for a long time

      • They have, but paying for taxes on a frequent flier redemption counts for getting the invitations - I've done it twice and got two sets.

    • Plus for healthy self-criticism

  • If I credit my Telstra account is it easy for me to get them to send me a cheque?

    • yes they will, source: 24x7 chat

    • "Eligible purchases do not include fees, cash, cash equivalent transactions, BPAY, refunds and balance transfers debited from the card account."

    Which fees are not eligible?

    • like late payment fees charged to CC

  • 50/50 on this. Similar boat with the 1 year coming up on ANZ and them scrapping the higher AMEX card is pretty lame too. But no other bank doing the fee free year with bonus points atm.

Weighing up shelling out for this or just sitting on one of my freebies until a good offer comes up (if ever).

  • St George customers also ineligible.

    • Where does it say this?

  • Question on PP membership and Amex lounge membership -

Amex - 2 visits per year. Can I use two in one go, so I can bring my wife?

PP membership - same as above question. Also, can I use PP membership as food credit in restaurants? i.e. $36 pp - do you think i can use this to eat in one of the airport restaurants with my wife and get back $72 in total.

Would it be possible to accept 100,000 qantas points and convert to Altitude rewards to get PP

    • I can confirm you can use two lounge pass at the same time. I've used mine earlier this year with my hubby
