  • Had my diamond 9's for like 6 years now, great speakers.

    • Yes, except when the rubber around them goes - check for splits around the woofers on the fronts.

      • My Australian-made speakers, using original Danish Vifa (before they become Chinese) drivers, are more than 20 years old, with no sign of deterioration of rubber surrounds. Really wish I could find an excuse to replace them but I guess they don’t make them like they used to.

        • Yeah mine are totally fine, no splits at all.

      • I've quite a few pairs around the family, all pre-loved. A few have cracked most haven't. I have my suspicions that it is either exposure to sunlight or cleaning products (most likely) that causes premature death. For me it was the 8.1/s that failed; Those had no cloth screen. the matching speakers from the same set (centre, fronts) had covers and no signs of failure even after another several years use.

Between us we've had a few sets re - rubbered. Not the same, but plenty good enough for background areas.

Rest of my stuff is Dali which I personally prefer, but for me the Wharfedale diamonds are also great.

You may need to take a further 20% to make these worthwhile. Great speakers but there are better value options. E.g. My Q Acoustic (2050 series) ones have better sound for much less…

    • Yes the 2050's were great value at the time. The Wharfedale do use kevlar drivers similar to Bowers and Wilkins which are more expensive speaker brand in general so overall I would personally rate them higher than Q Acoustics. Personal preference here. Your opinion may vary as music is a very personal thing
Another thing with Q Acoustics is that the brand is pretty much dead in Australia. We are clearing whatever stock we have left and will not be stocking the brand (Q Acoustics) anymore. If anyone is after the Q Acoustics 7000i series speakers give us a call for clearance pricing

      • Another thing with Q Acoustics is that the brand is pretty much dead in Australia

        Interesting. Why is that?

        • Generally, retailers are motivated by margins and (because of ACL) vendor/distributor support - take your pick.

Great opportunity for Q Acoustics to ditch their current distributor (Indi) and cater to this market as they have in others outside UK. We need retailers (on off-chance they may provide unbiased advice) and vendors, but nobody needs middlemen - an obsolete profession. SVS.

      • Ok I'm curious, please PM me pricing details.

    • WTF, Where did you get your 2050s, how much were they and do you think that price is still possible? Thanks!

Your 2050 would sound nothing like the Wharfedale 200 series. Sorry to be so frank. I used to own a pair myself. That is not to say the 2050 are bad speakers. Its like comparing a Harley Davidson to a Vespa scooter

So says the store rep selling the Warfedale set. Cue large handful of salt.

I am sorry but the Q acoustic 2050 and 3000 series beats the Wharfadele series for sound and value for money. Its not just me saying this - read the Whathifi recommendations on the best speakers.

        • so an online review site says who make money from "advertising" fees. Cue larger handful of salt.

dont take it persoanlly mate, I am not saying your speakers are crap, they are actually good speakers, Wharfedales are better

@atish digitalcinema: Sure Sure I trust you a 1000 times more than i trust a widely known and well respected review site.

          hmmm no….

        • @WTF:

Alright your speakers are better and you made a great purchase.

Bought my Diamond 10.4, 10.2 and 10.CS from these guys about 3 years ago. Highly recommended.
