Extended warranty is a rort. There are many horror stories about this on the net — do a search on Whirlpool for a start. See also http://www.smh.com.au/digital-life/exposed-the-extended-warr…

Remember also that there are a number of credit cards which extend the manufactuter's warranty just for making the purchase on the card — and at no cost to you.

This is fairly average price for this panel these days, as Samsung have recently dropped the prices of their panels. Hardly a 'bargain'… people have been getting this TV for as little as $1500!

    • Hi inertia

Where have you seen this TV price as little as $1500?

    Hi all

I will upload the receipt first thing tomorrow morning.

    inertia:
The RRP for the TV is $2,499. I thought that I got a good deal for this for two reasons:
    1. It's about 33% off RRP.
    2. Free promotions from Samsung - 4 x 3d glasses (RRP $129 each), 4 x 3d movies and a decent 22" LED Samsung Series 4 TV RRP $649.

Although I have to fork out $52 for the postage for these 'free gifts' I think it's worth it.
Say you sell $400 for the TV @ ebay, and used 3d movies @ 15 each the price for the tv itself goes down to $1200 - $1300.

    • RRP means nothing these days. It's just smoke and mirrors.

Suggested prices can also be manipulated to be unreasonably high, allowing retailers to use deceptive advertising by showing the excessive price and then their actual selling price, implying to customers that they are getting a bargain

    • I just got price matched at Good Guys Oxley (qld), but they're taking a massive hit on cost to do so. The best price anybody had this on was around $2,299 (many had the full RRP $2,500). Both managers at a Wow Sight & Sound and another didn't even look at their best price when they heard $1698. They simply said "buy it; quick". Thanks ultra64!

      • No probs. That's what Ozbargain is for, right?

  • Guys

I found out that I can't upload the receipt from the same post. If anyone wants a copy of the receipt, please send pm me.

    Thanks

    • Hey guys definitely confirming my presence as more of a 'lurker' than a poster, but how do you 'pm' someone who doesn't have an email listed under their profile? That may be a silly question but I promise to only ask it once…

ultra64 you need to change your account settings to allow users to pm you.

          Got it changed. My apologies!
Eventhough I have been a long time 'user' of Ozbargain but as you can see this is my only 2nd post
so I didn't know that I am 'hidden' to other users by default.
Now everyone should be able to PM me.
