They must have found some old stock; these are the first gen Evo Plus MicroSD Card (from 4+ years ago).

    • Was gonna say the same thing. They have slower read write speed compared to second gen

wow - didn't know that there are gens in sd cards. Soon we will have Gen3 Avocados.

      • It's just silicon grading, the better yeilds result in higher performance. The ones that don't make it to the top are made into slower cards.

They still make USB2.0 flashdrives, that doesn't mean it's new old stock.

        • +1

But usb 2 is actually a different standard, I don't think that's just grading. I think they deliberately try to make them.

Are these better? $15 more but 160mb speed vs 100mb?

Yes. These are second gen. They have higher read and write speeds great for 4K video recording. First Gen still does it, but I find these better slightly

      • +1

Awesome thanks, ordered the Amazon one instead for only $10 more (jbhifi had $5 delivery)

        • Note the device needs to support the higher speeds. Many devices won't go faster than 80MBps.

          • @whats up skip: Agreed. Where I find the second gen better is when I’m transferring data or watching the video directly from the card. There’s no lag or interruption with second gen because of the ability to handle higher speeds

Not compatible with Nintendo Switch 2, right? The Nintendo website suggests they need to be MicroSD Express (and should say SDXC EX on them).

      • +3

Nintendo Switch 2 is only compatible with a MicroSD Express card

    • +4

Not compatible with the Switch 2.

You'll need a MicroSD Express Card.

      • Technically they're compatible, but not for installing games to - regular MicroSD will allow you to copy photos and video, but not install anything on.

        MicroSD Express is super fast.
        MicroSD is… not

        • they are not the switch 2 refuse to recognize it.

        • Yup, only copy screenshots and recordings one way, from card to console. Mostly for migration purposes.

You can also format a normal microSD card in Switch 2, but still won't allow you to actually use it.

            Nintendo logic.

    • If you don't want to shell put for an Express card, you can buy this, and then buy a MIG Switch with the remaining savings, and use that for all your Switch 1 backups. I guess. Can't say I'd recommend it though.

These don't work on DJI Action 4 and Pocket 3. The new white version works fine.

  • Still ok for switch 1 though right?

    • +2

Yep. I have the same MicroSD card in my original Switch.

      • Thanks mate!

  • how this work for a Sony A6400?

    • It should work

  • +7

Will this work on my Smart Toaster?

I've currently got a 128GB card in there but that doesn't store enough 4K videos from the toast cam for reviewing my toast cooking later.

    • +2

Had to check if the Revolution Smart Toaster records the toasting haha (it doesn't, but does has a photo frame function…).

      • +3

TIL there's such a thing as smart toasters

  • Officeworks price beat? (Is the new gen obvious different)?

  • This any good for steam deck?
