Satellite Reign is supposed to be a "spiritual successor" to Bullfrog's "Syndicate", in case anyone was unaware…

    • +2

But unfortunately, it's not. It's a class-based cover shooter with non-destructible environments. Looks pretty though.

Source: I backed it on Kickstarter.

  • +2

Armello is awesome - worth the top tier.

    • +2

I noticed it has quite a few DLC on Steam, are they necessary?

      • Yeah, this is what I'm trying to figure out too. There's a collector's edition on Steam and I wonder if it'll be cheaper to get that when it goes on sale.

  • +2

This deal is worth it just for Satellite Reign alone…

  • +2

Between Hand of Fate and Satellite Reign the $1 tier seems fantastic, but the rest not so much. Unless you were already wanting Armello I'd just get the $1 tier and wait for it to go on sale (it's been $12 before, but I reckon Christmas sale it'll probably be 50% off).

    • +1

Armello has been available in a monthly before i think.

  • I’ve never heard of any of these games, good thing I guess

  • +1

Damn cheap for Satellite Reign, should be the middle tier offering at least.

  • +2

Screencheat looks interesting: 2-8 player splitscreen local multiplayer FPS deathmatch where you have to peak at your opponents' screens to win (as everyone is invisible).

Looks like the dollar tier is really pretty good…

    • +2

Screen Cheat is excellent, I've had a blast playing with friends while we have no idea what we're doing.

    • I reckon you could backport that gameplay to many oldschool FPSs really well. I bought it just to try and duplicate it in TimeSplitters.

    • Does Screencheat have online multiplayer mode yet?

  • Awesome Humble Bundle today. I hope it gets plenty of buyers!

Went with the $12USD tier because it feels great to support our talented Aussie game developers.

Customised the financial split to 50/50 between Aussie developers and EFF with a smaller tip for Humble Bundle.

Probably shouldn't keep adding more games to my collection that I'll never end up playing, but … whatever, this deal's too good to pass up

  • +6

It's worth noting these game were all developed in Australia, hence the down under bundle.

    • +2

Well, I assumed the name would give it away. Plus "the home bundle" and "support the Aussie bundle". ;-)

    • +1

Oh thank goodness. I thought they were all sexual organ related games.

  • +1

Getting this for screencheat to play with mates. seems like a good casual game!

    The Warlock of Firetop Mountain

OMG, the memories… I loved those Fighting Fantasy books, had a ton of them, would spend hours "playing"… then we got a Commodore 64 and I never looked at them again: we've come full-circle! :)

    • +1

I used to love those books too! I stupidly got rid of them years ago, but managed to purchase 6 books recently on ebay, still in grwat condition. I havent read them yet but one of them is Warlock of Firetop Mountain, which I never read back in the day but got because it was highly regarded by fans on the internet. I will definitely get the $1 bundle so I can play it as it looks fantastic in the Steam trailer I viewed!

But I'm gonna be disciplined and read the book first because I dont wont the game to spoil the original for me. Wish me luck because apparently its really hard!

My favourite books of the series were by far: Trial of the Champions and Talisman of Death. I was about 10 years old and was captivated by the story and the artwork in both of those books. The ink artwork illustrations are still some of the best I have seen, man could those old schook guys draw! It was a big part of the reason I got into drawing.

I hope that they make more of these books into games, especialy my two favourites, because I would buy them all.

Btw, same hapened with me when I got a C64!

        Haha, https://i.imgur.com/4MmX4zh.gifv :)
Coincidentally I was just playing the game right now… they even use the old artwork and you can click the image to toggle between the colorized version and the original black-white, cool! It was a little odd at first to be playing a 3d version, but the text took me right back! Just make sure you use the savepoints (benches) when you get them: if you choose any other option they don't offer the savepoint again… have fun!

        • +1

Haha, games bringing peoples together! Thanks for the tip on saving. That is fantastic they have all the old artwork and colour options too, Im looking forward to this. But Im even more psyched to play the book, just gotta find my dice.

Worth noting that humble bundle is now owned by ign media group now.

    • +2

And how does that have any influence on this deal?

Also, as long as the bundles keep coming as usual there is no reason to shout "wolf" pre-emptively. HB was always a business and never a charity. Whoever thought otherwise just had a wrong belief but HB cannot be blamed for that.
Wait and see what happens but the fact you stated has not significance, importance, or meaning for this particular deal of Australian-made games, especially when tier 1 really is very, very good value. If you want to discuss that, open a forum thread although of course people have already done that (https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/335446; see various Reddit threads).

      • +2

You are absolutely right. The takeover has no significance to this bundle and the bundle itself is fantastic. Also, I hope this gives them a boost before some of these guys show up at Pax in few weeks time!

Just thought it might be worth mentioning for those who might not follow these things - as it wasn't mentioned in the comments above. And I didn't realise there were forum threads for it.

As you have said above, we will see what happens :)

All titles work on Linux for those curious. Hurtworld doesn't have the SteamOS icon on it but I ran it just fine last night on Ubuntu Gnome 17.04 with AMD mesa drivers, smooth as butter.
