No need for this flashy stuff.
Best value for money shaving product is a nice razor and Sorbolene Cream. It can be had for $5.99 for 1 Litre, lasting you 6 months easy.

      • ^ this, and I buy Sorbolene on special ;)

        Or soap.

      • Do you generally apply Sorbolene before or after? If after, do you just shave with water and no cream?

        • +1

          This is what I do:

          1. Wet face with warm water.
          2. Apply sorbolene cream
          3. Shave
          4. Wash face with cold water (to tighten skin and also to relieve it from razor burn if any)
          5. Get a small dab of sorbolene cream and apply all over my face (not just shaved area) gently.
        • @Trishool: With the 1L bottle you linked, would it be okay to apply this Sorbolene cream on body as mosturiser, as an after shower routine?

Can't believe I'm asking male beauty advice on Ozbargain xD

@sky blu: Yes it's the perfect time to apply it, as it is a moisturiser.

Just a tip for the noobies, never shave your dingle berries off. You'd end up waking up with smelly fingers every morning.

I stopped using shaving gels a few years ago and switched to sorbelene cream which is way cheaper and better for your skin. However prior to the swich I would use king of shaves, which is the best one i found in comparison to the other brands and varieties available at Coles and Woolies.

Would this stuff work with a double edge safety razor?

  • I took some of this to a remote destination mainly due the convenient size & it did the job,but I've gone back to Nivea Sensitive Gel as it does a proper job.The Sorbalene idea is new to me and I'd NEVER use soap….

    • Interesting, I've tried the Nivea and found it to be complete rubbish - ended up with a lot if razor burn. I use this, or Bulldog brand which is good value when on special from Priceline.

Once you go Sorbolene, you never go Backolene.

      OzBargainer shaving method:

      1. After shower, rub generous (but not stupid) amount to face/neck etc
      2. Let the Sorbolene absorb into the hair follicles for 2+ mins
      3. Shave gently with a nice sharp razor and hot water
      4. Re-apply small amount of Sorbolene to moisturise the area
  • Is this King of Shaves available at Coles too?

    • +1

Yes, but don't think it has been this low price at least since the start of year.

      • Thanks! There's a Coles near me and I'm in no hurry so will wait til may be they go on sale similar to this price.

Thanks to OP; got the King Of Shaves Alphagel Cooling and the 2 In 1 Shave Cream & Moisturiser.

Added a few more items too to the shop- to meet the $50 weekly spend, to qualify on the Google Home Mini promo.

Sporting a pre-Movember beard ATM; so will try the shave products later.
Mostly nice reviews on Kings of Shaves products all around though…

    Thanks Rodo

    • how is the 2 in 1 shave cream?
Noticed it the other week and have been meaning to try it.

Cleaned out my local Woolies of the Sensitive Alphagel :p

  • Is this a clear gel where we can still see the jawline if just want to neaten up a beard?

Smart from Woolies - they know Movember is a quiet month.
