Any experience on quality? We all know RRP is BS on knives

What does id3 Tora stand for? Sounds Israeli.

      • I believe it's just their model range, which is Japanese inspired skinny profile knives.

        Tora stand for?

"The "tora" of the title is the two-syllable Japanese codeword used to indicate that complete surprise had been achieved."

        • So in english I can proudly declare I own an id3 ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh!

          @Sodomite:

I own an id3 ahhhhhhh ahhhhhhhh!

Only on 'Talk Like a Pirate' day.

      • Tora is Japanese for Tiger in this case. (虎 Kanji on the front of the box)

Dunno what id3 refers to, might be a type of steel or just a range they have.

Equip a tora knife, gives you +10 attack on palestinians and +10 against unesco people.

    • ive got the cuisine pro, and i can vouch for the quality and sharpness

    • Check where they're made.
If China, laugh, put down the box and walk away!

  • I'm looking at all their Baccarat knife block sets they have on sale, and I'm just having some trouble deciding on what I should really be specifically looking for.

I currently own a set of "Forever Sharp" knives that I bought from one of those 'travelling salesmen'from Big W, and I can tell you right now, they have not been "Forever Sharp" in fact, they have almost never been sharp to really any standard. Tomatoes squash, hacking is required for butternut pumpkin, and even carrots don't get sliced nice with ease. The main knife I use for my cooking is the Santoku that came with the set, however I don't know if it's because I have smaller hands or the handle is just…a little large for me, but after cutting potatoes, carrots, sweet potatoes and pumpkin, my thumb, index finger and inner hand area are extremely sore and painful. I've put in the effort to watching numerous videos to ensure I am both cutting things correctly and holding the knife right. Even though I probably should be using another knife for certain things, the Santoku seems to be the sharpest out of all of these "Forever Sharp" knives I own.

Any advice on if a set of Baccarat is even for me, and if so, which set would be optimal that this site offers while they are almost all on special plus the bonus 25% off, or just any advice really would be greatly appreciated. I'll go take a photo of what I currently have. I have issues with my wrists so the extra pressure I have to use is really one of the main things that is making me really think about grabbing something from this sale here.

For reference, my Santoku is approx. 13.5cm. And the paring knife seems to be getting some sort of discolouration/rust type stuff on it. Owned the set for roughly 12 months. 14 months at max.

Baccarat look to be the home brand of House, basically. I've spent some hours researching recently and ended up buying this in the end:

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Cuisinart-Classic-Collection-15-P…

      • That seems good value.

    • Lol. Forever sharp. I bought them too :/

TBH I didn't mind, I just needed a knife, rarely cooking it didn't matter so much, plus they are cheap too

  • hmm.. these are Rockwell 53, which means you'll need to sharpen and hone more often…strange since these are "Japanese" inspired and I think the Jap knives are usually around Rockwell 60ish … get what you pay for I guess.

  • Oh no, I impulse bought the oak knife block set!

  • I bought the 7pcs knife set a year ago (probably paid a lot more for it) but the knives and scissors have started to rust

  • Damn you just bought the Baccarat Damashiro Knife Block 7 Piece Oak… my credit card is hurting this week lol

  • Everything i want to buy is sold out online. I know that there is still store stock. Does this code only work online? If so, that's quite hard for the local store to survive then.

  • Expired.
