ASUS 23.6" Monitor - 1920x1080 5ms 75Hz - $135.20 Delivered @ austincomputers eBay

LED VP247HA 75hz 5ms 1920x1080 FHD monitor for only 135.20 delivered. Seems like a great deal. 1x HDMI and 1x D-Sub. (dont think it has dvi d)

It is a VA Panel so it isn't as nice as an IPS, but it should look better than a TN. Downside is that its 5ms and not 1ms.

$116 for an Acer 21.5" 1080p TN monitor as well

Stay the hell away from VA panels if you're intending to game on it. The technology lends itself to 'ghosting' issues. The tricks they use to mask the problem causes other visual anomalies (leading edge of motion embossing/interlacing, flickering, etc.).

    • How are they for a secondary monitor just to keep an eye on Discord while gaming etc and occasionally play some TV in the background while multitasking?

Even video playback can be tricky depending on the model. They have far better colour reproduction than Ti panels, but fall down badly where motion is involved.

Here's an example video of my new $1k Philips BDM4037UW. The VA technology is just prone to ghosting. I assumed it would be ok for desktop work, until I started seeing 2-3 cm trails whilst moving windows about the screen.

Moving a window around the screen leaves trails. Nothing wrong with the system, cabling, or GPU. The video was made using a Quadro K4200 GPU connected via a Displayport cable. Also tested with a GTX1080 to rule out any GPU issues.

The same system has a Dell P2715q connected without issues.

        • Thanks for that, I think I'll just go the safe route and pay a little more for an IPS.

        • @kbw:

Yeah, IPS would be best even with the higher price.

  • Just bought, thanks OP.

  • Thanks OP. Got one.

  • Nice all rounder monitor for office and multimedia use. Just one thing, all specs only indicate 1x HDMI and 1x D-sub, I don't think there is a DVI input. It does have basic inbuilt speakers though.

    • woops i think you're right. i took the inputs from Mwave, but everywhere else only mentions hdmi and dsub

      • All good, out of stock now anyway!

  • Too slow :'(

  • Damn, missed it.

  • +1

Yes missed it. This deal had to happen while i was out mowing a yard this morning.

There's never a good time to not be OzBargaining isn't there? Just so happens that when we are actually looking for a deal on something, it gets posted, gets out of stock, all in the space of time during which we do other things :) Ah, as Ned Kelly said, "such is life".

    • Did you have a hurricane in the background?
