Inca Lightweight Tripod - $15 @ Harvey Norman

120

Good entry level tripod, I bought one about six months ago (overpriced at JB Hifi) and haven't had a problem with it. I wish I'd bought it at this price. Postage comes up at $5.95 for me. Collect in store for free.

These are rubbish. Please dont put your expensive cameras on these flimsy wobbly things. Maybe good for a GoPro, but thats it.

    • I disagree about the quality. The larger Inca ones have done me very well for about a decade. Put a weight on the hook, and realize it's not a $300 tripod and you're good. I got them for about $15 too.

THESE however will not hold a DSLR safely. They're just too small. And if you're tall you'd have to use a chair unless you want a sore back, neck, shoulders. If you're seated they would be fine for a point and shoot or in a pinch a small superzoom/bridge camera. Maybe one of the lighter mirrorless in a pinch.

A tripod that goes to at least 175cm is a better purchase all round.

it is at best mediocre plastic. like Orpheus said, don't trust your DSLRs on it. The lock clasps are pretty stiff, if you can't get the right angle, it just snaps.

Maybe stocking filler then for the boys gopro… :D

        • Gopros would be fine, or even compact cameras. The panning is pretty smooth though and pretty light so rather portable in that sense.

If you insist on a DSLR, I'd say find a way to anchor the legs so it doesn't topple.

  • I use it for baby monitors. Also could be good for small speaker placements. They are fine indoors but I am not sure I would take them outdoors.

Bought this when it was for $9 pickup at HN (in 2015).. have used my Nikon DSLR as well as a compact camera with it and it works very well.. it's got average quality and someone (or if you are outdoors then strong winds) can push and tip it over but for the price I have no complaints as I have mainly used it indoors.. it's easily extendable plus it's got a leveling indicator..

  • No idea about the quality of this. A comment on 'cheap plastic tripods' however. I have a $10 Chinese job and it's amazing. About 350g so i carry it on holiday without worrying about the weight. It holds my gx85 well enough, if it's not too windy.

Am i a pro photographer? Absolutely not. But i find it great for the occasional group shot or long exposure.

Got this exact model for my daughter when they had them on a clearance table and it's not too bad. She hasn't had an issue with her modest gear.
Wouldn't use it for my pricey gear of course.

Going to grab a couple for my Oculus sensors. Thanks for the heads up.

Thanks a lot. Just bought one.

  • it was $9 two years ago

  • I think In-Ya Tripods are more popular.

$9 two years ago now worth $15, sounds like a HIGH YIELD INVESTMENT to me!!!

  • Was $10 at the end of last year.

You were always bending over with an arm stabilising you?

  • I don't have this particular tripod (so it could have weak joints or other problems) but this is more the size what you're looking for if you're going to put a DSLR on something cheap without risking the camera.
