  • Man I've been tempted by this deal so many times now just because of its price but I've managed to hold out on getting something I know I won't use…
Not only that but I have a gtx 1080ti with a mi box in the lounge too meaning I can set up the moonlight app with similar functionality…

Argh… Will see if I can hold out this week too.

  • Looked into media playback and seems quite straight forward adding Chrome or VLC as a non-steam game. Ended up getting one.

  • Thanks OP, at this price, seemed like a no brainer (for the link).

    • But you can't play DotA or PUBG.

  • Thanks silverrat23, very cheap even if you used it just to stream media - lucky I also have lots of Steam games to now try on the big screen, cheers.

  • Just pick up my order.

Let see if it works with third party 360 receiver.

    • Let us know how it goes.

      • All working good, I bought the 3rd party receiver from eBay.

Finally can play my large steam library on TV.

I connected it to my gigabyte wireless access point through the TPLink AV2000 EOP.

  • Finally picked up a Steam Link after holding off from the last few times it's been this price. I have a mini-ITX PC in my bedroom which I have been using for IHS but lately it's been having issues mostly revolving around controllers not being detected client-side. These issues appear to be non-existent on the Link.

I'm curious however as to how it performs compared to my HTPC and whether it will work with my third party Xbox 360 wireless receiver.

  • After set it up last night it is so good. Finally I can play my Dirt 3 on the TV with 360 controller.

  • Can the steam controller operate outside of big picture mode?
As in can I use it like a remote to do basically everything a keyboard/mouse can do albeit more clumsier ie streaming via programs such as Stremio, netflix etc.

    • +1

outside of BP mode it will just act as a mouse

  • Picked up my Link today. Steam also released an update today that fixed the issues I was having with my controller on my HTPC.

Ahh well, I can use the Link in the lounge room or something.
