Just seems like a nice phone :) I was tossing up between this and the Sony XZ Premium for $70 more, can't go wrong with either really.

Reviews say the cameras are nice, the loudspeaker is, well loud, the screen has high legibility under sunlight, and phone feels sturdy. A nice package in my opinion.

    That review is not objective or accurate, check the gsmarena review, the nokia 8 camera shots look fantastic in daylight, imo better looking than many current flagships, but it's true that the low light performance and video is weaker than the rivals. Also the screen is not "dull", it's just that some rivals are using oled or hdr screens which makes them highly punchy in colour. Fyi, the iphone 7 screen is an even worse offendor than the nokia 8! Not everyone wants a super punchy screen, some prefer a more accurate or laid back palette.

    • Both phones lack 3.5mm headphone jack
    • Essential has bezelless design
    • Nokia has better camera (essentials suck according to review)
    • Nokia has SD slot for expansion and is dual SIM

    Choose your poison. I'd probably go with Nokia having seen how fast they are with updates. Already on October 2018 security patch and promise of fast updates.

  The latest nokias are quite good. They have them on display at JB Hifis. I picked one up and was very impressed with the feel and overall quality. Camera was decent too

    On ebay, the lowest price for a new XZ Premium is $713, so with the 10% off code it is $641, thus $70 more than this deal.

  Bear in mind the Xperia XZ Premium (and XZ1) is waterproof and the Nokia 8 isn't, which is a shame.
