You have to clean a toilet?

      Yuk

Hate to say it, but dont be a cheap dirty bastard when cleaning your shitter.

Spray & wipe antibac bathroom cleaner on the exterior surfaces (including cistern, seat etc), the wiping part done with toilet paper, which is chucked in the bowl frequently (and a new wod made or folded) to avoid it breaking down in your hand.

Once completed, flush away toilet paper.

Sprinkle generous amount of ajax into the bowl (its wet now so ajax will stick) and allow to sit for a while in the water.

Brush sides and work brush down under the water part giving it all a good scrub in the ajaxy water.

Flush away, rinsing brush in the water as its dumping in the bowl (not in the water that collects at the bottom).

Attach duck stick on disc thing.

    Job done.

      What about your toilet?

    • toilet paper, which is chucked in the bowl frequently
Once completed, flush away toilet paper.

You should always have a trash can next to the toilet. If this isn't for bodily fluids, chuck the toilet paper in trash and throw it out later. Better for your toilet/pipes later.

I clean with the toilet brush, as required, then once a week use Domestos and give it a good scrub. We also have special cheap toilet paper we bought specially for cleaning the external surfaces. Don't want to waste the stuff we buy for senstive tushies.

  • +3

    Used to hate doing it
    … Now don't mind.

Buy the 1.25l Coles Generic bleach cleaner (basically the knock-off of Domestos).

Squirt it all over inside of the bowel, then brush away.

Flush 10mins later, or when you remember.

    • +1

      this!!! best one

    • +3

I'm not sure I'd be squirting that up my bowels…. Would probably have some negative effects

  • Also, the cost per bottle is approx $2, and lasts 6 months for what we need.

I do not bother with specific 'toilet' cleaner.

Note, also using the stick-on 'gels'. Quite good, but pricey.

Given the comments in this thread I feel like OzBargain needs a [Serious] tag…

Personally I find that cleaning the toilet more regularly (brushing it after a poop) saves on how often you need to do a big clean.

  • Thick bleach. Anything else is a scam.

  • Once a week - or more if they start to look dirty - I chuck some of the Woolworths Select bleach gel (branded as toilet cleaner) in both of my toilets, leave for ten mins then scrub. A two minute job (outside is spray and wipe using TP or cloth that will be thrown out).

  • Don't have a toilet in your house. Dump in the street.

I have a cleaner, she cleans them once a week.

  • Steradent. It works wonders!

For stains under the water use denture cleaning tablets.

I buy the Coles ones for $3.50, put 4 tabs in overnight and the stains will be gone.

If you also have dentures you can throw them in the toilet bowl as well to save money and multitask.

You homies sure can sing and rhyme,

You got the moves when you do a mime.

      • +1

Gotta keep rhyming, gotta make a scene,
This thread is all about keeping the throne pristine

        • When you scrub your toilet, you'll get it clean,

It's a great feeling, you know what I mean?

        • Drop a clanger straight down, dont make a sound,
spray some fresh and get the toilet brush and swish it around

        • @DarthAntz:

          Always make sure you flush,

          Doesn't matter if you're in a rush.

I put bleach in my coffee instead of milk—everything comes out white and no cleaning needed. Was pretty weird at first but got used to it.

    • Everyone else was being serious and then you said that.

  • +3

I just pee really hard at the bowl so that the skiddies come off.

    • My Domino's cheesy crust skiddies would take a firehose to remove.

      • Nearly makes you wonder if the cheesy crust upgrade is worth it. Of course its worth it.

      • You can use mine.

    • Yeah but when you get old and have a swollen prostate you'll lose power so best start thinking about alternatives.

  • I don't

Put citric acid in the bowl water overnight, calcification gone in the morning. We never buy carcinogenic cleaners in our house. Vinegar, baking soda and tea tree oil all work just as well and are so cheap they may as well be free. My partner even makes our own laundry detergent for 10 cent a litre.

    • What is the recipe?

    • I also would like to know!

      • 1 cup lux soap flakes, 1/2 cup of washing soda and 1/2 cup of borax. Makes 10lt of laundry liquid. I bungled the cost sorry, its actually 17.5 cents/lt.

        • Add 1.5lt water and soap flakes into medium saucepan. Stir over medium heat until soap is dissolved. Add washing soda and borax, stir until thickened and remove from heat. Pour mixture into a bucket. Slowly add water to the bucket while stirring to make 10lt. As the liquid cools it thickens and the more you stir while its cooling the smoother the liquid will be. Refill old laundry liquid containers and shake well before each use.

        • @Stimps: thanks!!

    room mate's tooth brush.

    • +2

Bet your roommates do the same.

      • I don't brush. I use listerine.

While we are on the subject, I have a spare room for rent available in my house. Anyone interested?

        • I use listerine

          Hope you are right.

        • +2

@ms: The roommates call it pissterine

        • @Yarkin:
          Lol.

  • Sit down.

  • Just buy bulk from Costco

  • Do a 1 on the 2 to remove it from the bowl

    • Difficult, 1 always comes before 2

      • Thats why they have a toilet lid. Clean it later

Poop with the dogs when I take them for a walk.

  • Installed a Shattaf and pray to Allah (avail from ebay)
anybody ever been to Vietnam never would want it any other way

poo in shower squeeze it thru drain

    • I believe the term is "waffle stomp"

    • Best drop a bit of bleach in the drain afterwards or that shit will go ripe.

  • Flush, aldi bleach cleaner, brush, flush, re-scrub, flush and rinse bog and brush. Takes 20 seconds.

Before pooping, half flush, makes any gooeys much easier to clean off.

  • +1

I just buy a brand new toilet every time I poop

  • Poop in a pit outside.

I'm a grower for Creative Gourmet… So let's just say I have my own special system in place. ;)

  • never clean lol

  • Simply clean off skid marks by peeing on them, duh.

  • my misses

    • +2

      Have you chronicled your misses?

      • 100% miss rate = toilet always clean

  • The first step to get a clean toilet, is to make it dirty

  • My latent notions of superiority always take a kick up with posts like this…

  • dug a hole in the backyard

    • +1

Must be full of sh*t by now.

  • I always leave the toilet lid closed when doing a number 2 using other peoples toilets. It's just a courtesy thing to save them having to scrub out the toilet as I do massive doo doos. I'm nice like that :)

  • -2

Spray the toilet bowl with cylicone spray, they enter the bowl at terminal velocity. ….. or as fast as you cab poop them but I usually poop in jars and keep them as pets.

  • I relieve myself in the swamp. Pro tip: be careful of the mosquitoes.

  • i keep a pump action water pistol for these occasions.

  • Acid from Bunnings. https://www.bunnings.com.au/search/products?q=hydrochloric%2…

Buy the largest size and it's $2.35/L which is cheaper than most supermarket chemicals. Below the waterline will be clean in 10-20 minutes. All you do is pour it in, wait, flush.

Above waterline just water and brush, dish detergent and brush, bi-carb soda and brush - anything really.

  • Collect serviettes from fast food restaurants and use them (spread the paper so it reaches bowl edges) to prevent skid marks and splash back. Works a treat.

  • Toilet brush onto the skids immediately.
Toilet bowl cleaner attached to the bowl.
Squirt vinegar through the bowl and use toilet brush once a week, spray seat down with spray n wipe and wipe off with paper towel.

Probably the easiest cleaning job there is.

  • +1

my wife cleans it. she does bigger skiddies then me.

  • My all-purpose cleaning solution is a combination of water, white vinegar, bi-carb soda, bleach, salt, old lemon and an old kitchen sponge/ steel scrub. It covers 90% of my domestic cleaning (kitchen bathroom living area) with an annual budget of less than AUD$15. regularly clean once every two weeks, deep clean every 3-4 months (deep clean = using slightly higher concentrated solution and scrub a little harder). it works for me. My kitchen surface, bathroom, and shower screen still look 80% new after 10 years of daily use. It saved me heaps $$$ (I bet you heard that before) and it works better than any cleaning detergent I came across. (used to do cleaning in my graduate days).

Yes bleach is not good for the environment. But, so are the material used to manufacture my laptop I am using now to post this. What about the logistic and resources goes into producing a bottle of ECO-Friendly cleaning detergent?? Perhaps they were delivered by a solar-powered electric truck. I promise I will eat kale to redeem myself from the sin of using bleach.

Edit: forgot to chuck in the old newspaper for the shower screen, windows and mirrors. I only use eco-friendly printed and eco-friendly delivered newspaper.

Choice did a review of toilet cleaning products a few months ago:
    https://www.choice.com.au/home-and-living/laundry-and-cleaning/surface-cleaners/review-and-compare/toilet-cleaners

The Daily Mail has an article about the results:

    Best:
Easy Off Bam Power Cleaner Toilet ($5.98) offered the best dirt removal performance and good value for money after scoring 75 per cent.

Aldi's Power Force Bright & clean OXY Thick Toilet Gel ($2.19) and Power Force Bright & Clean Thick Bleach ($2.19) were also recommended after scoring 70 per cent

    Worst:
Duck 5 in 1 Toilet Cleaner ($3.60) and Oomph Toilet Gel ($4.80) worked just as well as using water after scoring 45 per cent.

Coles' Toilet Gel, Coles' Toilet Cleaner ($2.30) and Woolworths' Homebrand Toilet Cleaner ($1.50) were worse than not using anything at all after scoring the lowest at 40 per cent.

    • +1

I do wonder how a product can be worse than nothing…if it's water based how can it be inferior?

  • Coke

    • +1

I believe this may make people use the toilet even more

  • +2

I demand, unequivocally, an immaculate lavatory.

  • ehm…just clean. toilet is usually not a huge space so, try to do small clean every day or two and maybe a big one once a week or 2 weeks. works for me

  • Apply oil to the sides of the bowl and they slide down easy.

  • Why don't they make teflon coated toilets? If melted cheese slides right off a new frypan surely the same should work for skiddies?
