Hisense 50N7 50"UHD ULED TV with HDR Plus $958 (Better if You Haggle) JB HIFI

200

absolute kickass tv and 20% off at the moment, went into check one out today for my father, finding a decent priced UHD tv is hard enough as it is as many of them are dodgey build quality.

I had a hisense since jan and at first wasnt happy with it until using EU firmware which allowed it to do a lot of hdr which it was claimed it couldnt do here.

Now if you are buying a UHD for hdr at the moment its a minefield, this supports HDR plus which if you are xbox one s/x or ps4 minded it's the way to go.

Also try to haggle, I managed to get mine down to $911 but be nice to the staff, if you are mean or rub them the wrong way it's sticker price for you.

Also has 3 year in home warranty, i'd pick this over the JVC 65 @ bigW just on that alone after issues a mates had with warranty on them.

15 cents for a 50" TV. Even better if you haggle. Managed to get mine for $0.12

Don't you love submitting a deal off a phone?

        Fixed.

  • Title still needs work, try again mate.

  • What model?

  • Damn this looks better than the JVC 65" but smaller. Hmm decisions decisions
Also OP add more product tags like "50 inch" "HDR" "HDR Plus" "Hisense" please thank you. Helps with product searching.

All good take your time just adding reminder comments just in case you forgot. It helped me once when I was posting some deals.. All good relax take a deep breath and take your time haha lol.. you are doing good mate. 👍

Don't worry I am on a mobile device too haha lol them fat fingers and hands get in the way sometimes huh 😜😜😜

        • All good just trying to get errands done while at the same time having just set it up at my fathers and only having 40m to train him on it.

He's figuring it out quite well and already watching 4k netflix on it, so it's passed the 68 year old figuring it out test.

Couple of my mates down south have persuaded their other half to let them go grab one, and they've confirmed they've been able to talk theirs down to $911 as well, one had an easy time the other had to lean on the saleswoman a bit and got bombarded with addon purchase pushes so I guess it's luck of the draw with who you deal with.

        • @typhoonadventure: it is very tempting but I am trying to decide if the HDR Plus is worth the lesser 15" diagonal display size. I am a stickler for getting the best bargains so my but is telling me to wait for a better deal as I have seen a 55" HDR 4k tv many times around this price.

Btw do you know the differences between the N5 N6 and N7 Hisense models? They seem to go up in price each model so I am assuming there is something there other than a different naming convention.

        • @AlienC: if you are after more real estate, i'd say wait, as unless you have what they're labelling as hdr plus, your going to have hdr compatability issues with xbox 1s/x and ps4, as each have different standards on what hdr is.

The issue you've got is price right now is coming down a lot to who can mass produce the most panels as to what gets better features, this is why the pc market is sucking so hard atm, I recently had a couple top of the line 4k monitors and sold them all as all the features in the world on them were BS or only supported stuff that required a pc with hardware that cost ridiculous sums, yet I could go out and buy a 4k hdr screen for $500 used that was 50" plus or a brand new one for a bit more.

So why am I out right now?

I just replaced my 4k pc monitor with the 43" UHD ULED HDR tv version…. just talked the salesman to selling it to me for $611. So that's my games / pc monitor for now :P

As for the model numbers….. no idea

@typhoonadventure: haha nice work dude. Yeah 4k pc monitors are at crazy prices atm and some of the loaded features imho are not even worth it for the price you pay say compared to an equivalent but larger 4k TV.. albeit 4k TV "Gaming Monitors" don't really exist yet but my guess is with all the new rage and popularity of suit large screens for gaming because of the crazy screen real estate that features and prices will come down even nicer especially if they want to compete and win in the ludicrously available gaming market which tbh is still kind of new in the realm of TV's.

Linus Tech Tips even reviewed the possible first TV geared at gamers the LG Nano Cell which seems to have lower input lag to compensate for gaming.

This is great news and honestly really only over time things will either get worser or better but I have high hopes for the better.

So tempting not to buy any new stuff right now as things are in an interim changing period imho with exponentially better stuff being released almost very single day but I gotta train that buying finger bad so that I don't end up broke or worse with some regretful purchase haha lol.

Great talking with you man you have some good comments.

        • @AlienC:

So verdict on using the 43" as a pc monitor so far :

Ps4 gaming - after freaking out with it not being compatible with ps4 pro and only xbox one for hdr…. finding out hdmi comes standard in menu and needing to be switched over to "enhanced" to work with hdr10, f****ing awesome.

Using as a pc monitor the first issue is brightness, I had to do abit of turning to get the brightness to a point where looking at black text on white didnt burn the eyes, but this was expected, also had to shrink the icons and text size, due to limitations of graphics card my g-card can only do 60hz @ 1080p and 30hz at 2160p, so running my PC at 1080p on it with shrunk icons, gone from a two monitor display to this, its literally like having two 32" screens stuck together.

          So not too bad :)

  • This one or 65 inch JVC deal from Big W?

    • I'd go with this just on the hdr options, it's something you think won't be a big deal until you use it, even without hdr input the colours are a ton more vibrant on this model. In store untuned against a sony of rivalling specs for $1500, this was dominating it without being tuned.

It comes down a lot to each persons eyes like it different but I was pretty happy with taking 30 seconds to tune it and it looked like a night and day difference between his old screen (samsung led 1080p from last year) running murdoch mysteries recorded on a ps3tv, to this screen upscaling that to 4k with much vibrant colours, even the shadows with correct settings on it look great.

The other big benefit is the home based warranty, according to a card in the box they send someone out for the first 3 years which is pretty good given a mate had issues with jvc who dicked him around, and with our first samsung panel we had it die and they wanted to bill my father to come out and replace the screen despite it being under waranty, they claimed the warranty didnt cover the visit, and how was a 63 year old (at the time ) going to pack a 40" older style lcd in a box and take it into the store?

Great TV - I bought the 55inch during ebay sale and love it. 10/10

  • 8 bit or 10 bit?

    • i think its 10, hdr10 as well but no dolbyvision

  • Better price if you haggle

You might be able to get it for $950, but that's about it. Sometimes they'll just tell you outright they can't do anything. It's cheaper than they would negotiate it to off sale.

    • counting 4 people i know that were able to talk it down to $911 with ease.

      • Any reason why $911? Where they scared to go any lower?

        • they've gotta make commission off it to hit their numbers for the week.

        • Extra 5% off

        • @typhoonadventure: Exactly why I didn't think they would have done any lower. I figure they guess it's only 5% less.
Strange people at JB, one gives you a $100 discount and the other gives you zero. Not this instance, but it has happened to me before.

        • @typhoonadventure: if they discounted it from the original sale price they would of sold it at floor cost and made $0 comms whislt jb itself made profit from rebates. Also salesman would of needed to make his target

        • Would of been floor cost on the pda….

  • any deals on 55"+ ?
