Marley Legend ANC over-Ear Noise Canceling Headphones (Regal) $149 ($200 off) @ JB Hi-Fi

90

A great deal on a set of very decent noise canceling headphones which I went into the store and tried myself (then I bought some). Usually $349, this is a steal considering you can't get any decent noise canceling headphones by any other audio brand (that are decent).

    then I bought some)

    Broaden in the making?

    • Once I've worn them in a little more over the next day or so, I'll elaborate on what they're like. First impressions are they're a bit bassy but these are not studio headphones so that is to be expected there is a bit of colouring. It's not overpowering bass, I prefer a little bass than sterile studio headphones that don't sound good for 99% of modern overmixed music anyway.

what he is saying… SOME = more than ONE…

It's not like you can buy just one headphone, that's why they call them headphones.

Just the other day I purchased a pair of pant so it is possible

@jonsnow: probably can in the Van Gogh museum shop

        • @TightBottom: maybe because as per your nickname, too tight on your bottom, then you need a pair each side

Vheissu might be from Queensland though…

    • Not sure why we are getting caught up on language semantics here? I am on a fresh reinstall and haven't turned on British English in my spelling checker, so it didn't pick it up. It's a missing "L" hardly a big deal and people know what I am talking about.

  • How good is the ANC compared to QC25?

    • Won’t be as good

    • ANC is poor apparently

was reading a PC authority on them awhile ago

    Here
Apr 21, 2016 - Review: House of Marley's Legend ANC headphones look sharp, but hurt … They are neither on- or over-ear, with the speaker grills touching your ear surface and the cushion cups doing … Active noise cancellation is poor.

    • I owned a pair of Marleys once and your description is perfect.

Neither on the ear or around. They just hurt.

But hey, they looked good and sounded okay for the price I paid ($100ish).

I walked down to the JB Hi-Fi in the Brisbane CBD, the staff were happy to open up a box for me to test.
Just wanted to summarize my experience quickly for potential buyers.
I only had a chance to test them for a few minutes, however they're very disappointing in terms of audio quality, the noise cancelling was negligible.
They sounded dull and distant, they are very bulky and tight fitting, I can see myself getting irritated by wearing them over prolonged periods of time.
I would not recommend them, not even at the discounted price. This is just my two cents, hopefully it helps.

Like all headphones, if you can try before you buy it’s worth every cent.

  • A little review now I've spent a little time with them.

    • They're more bassy than some people might like, definitely a bit of colouring. I have an additional amp I run my headphones through which allows me to EQ these headphones and get them sounding decent, which I realise not everyone has. I've been turning it on and off throughout my use just to get a sense of the difference, the standard out-of-the-box sound isn't atrocious.
    • There is definitely a burn in period for these headphones. I've used them quite a bit now and they're starting to sound better the more I use them (the jury is still out on whether or not speakers need a burn-in period, I think they do)
    • Design build and quality is great, they look nice
    • I can see why these would be uncomfortable for some. I personally liked the firm clasp they have but it could just be because I have a big head and big ears.
    • Noise cancelling isn't amazing, but for $149 I can't really think of any other headphones in the ANC territory that would fare any better. I didn't buy these purely for noise cancelling anyway.

For $149 you can't really get anything much better at this price that I have listened to. Unless you're an audiophile who only listens to music in FLAC format, these headphones are more than fine for the average consumer who probably listens to music primarily through Apple earphones and these are a step up in quality. I wouldn't pay the full price of $349, but for the current price they're not bad. Considering most people buying these headphones at this range probably aren't expecting anything too great.
