TGG scammed me on a SMEG stove and the 15% ebay deal, burnt me for life, never another cent in that store

    • +1

      Curious now, how so?

      • -1

When TGG listed 1000's of items online 15% off ebay i was about to pull the trigger on a $4k stove, but they then removed it before i could go through with the purchase, i screen-shot the advert.

They claim it was listed in "error", who knows, but unlike say AOL who took a king hit loss on the Kenwoods recently, TGG would not lose a few $100 and rather go to war with me.

Was going to contact ACCC and VCAT but E&S Trading [God bless them] thought i had been treated bad by TGG and offered to do the same price TGG "offered"

I am not sure whom is wearing these ebay 15% deep discounts, is it ebay, importer or the seller or a combo of all 3?

TGG can get stuffed, spent $10' thousands there, not a penny more, GOD BLESS E&S Trading!

No one is, because every store just marks up their products right before the sale.

So the good guys turn to the bad guys and the ugly guys?

        • +5

You didn't really get scammed…businesses aren't obliged to take a hit for you. It's very generous that AOL did, but I wouldn't necessarily expect it. Ebay pays for these discounts not TGG. The AOL loss was on a kitchenaid not a kenwood

        • @Artofbargain: I see what you did there! Cue the Clint Eastwood thousand-yard stare!

Great price, just ordered. I've got used to using one at work so needed one for home.

Great piece of kit. Bought mine from Gumtree for $10.

Best appliance in my new home - Toasted sandwiches = happy life

This is a very good deal. I bought the same thing from GoodGuys last Friday for $25.

  • +1

Ha! Good thing I waited! saved myself $3.75 :D

    Cheers OP

  • Thanks TA. Our current press is starting to fall apart. This is only a two slice job and not sure about the ribbed [insert inappropriate joke here] top plate (as with older versions I recall it being a pain to clean those as they age), but for the price and multiple positive reviews I'm willing to give it a go! Cheers.

      This guy presses.

  • Thanks TA, picked one up!

  • How hot this machine can achieve? The name is Cafe Grill, can I make a roti or basically it just does the warm up?

  • Thanks! Bought 1 and then another!

You should be promoted to Power User, wouldn't surprise me if the mods are talking about you right now.

  • Thanks TA - bought.

      I thought gerry is worse?

      • I'd take a JB HiFi owned store over a Gerry owned store every time.

  • I cook everything in this "sandwich" press, steak, chips, bacon, eggs, fish, oh and sandwiches its the number on appliance in my home.

    • How long do you 'press' for bacon? What's the clean up like?

      • +1

A couple of minutes only, a bit of a wipe with paper towels, then a sponge.

  • Will this press my meat? or chicken?

      Will this press my meat?

Not unless you want third-degree burns.

      • Username checks out once again😁

        • :)

  • Thanks for this. Just ordered one 😊

    BEWARE: NO height adjuster.

Personally this is really frustrating- I have one

    • +1

I've yet to come across one that comes with a height adjuster that isn't broken haha

    • The Good Guys product link says it has adjustable height control. Have they stuffed up, or is yours a different model?

Was excited to buy for $25 last week and am actually oz-bargaining right now while my cheese toastie cooks in said appliance.
    Great deal.

  • Is there a trick to getting click to collect to work on this item? I can see lots of stock across the board on their actual website but every matching postcode I enter comes up with no stock etc.

Still a good price - I'll just drop down tomorrow morning and pay the full $25 otherwise…

    • Hmmm. Now working again. Must have been a glitch as I tried it in several web browsers..

  • Disappointed in TGG - ordered this when it was on the $29 deal and they haven't delivered in a month. Chased up ebay store after a week and then TGG store itself when the ebay contact replied, still "waiting on the courier"

Anyone else had delays this bad?

Almost contemplating asking for a refund at this point

    • Got a call and email letting me know it is waiting for me in store. Doing pickup.
