        • @Dinjay: For me, was sitting for "4-5 days on "Local Transport Booked. I agree, only two updates.

  • Received notification from Dell today that states, "Based on the latest available information, we are confident we will deliver your order on or before this new date. We apologise for the delay and appreciate your patience. Estimated Delivery Date - 2017-11-21"

    hmm…

    • I got the same thing.
I lose $15 worth of mining profit thanks to them lol

  • For the record, mine arrived on Monday.

If I knew dell used startrack I wouldn't have bothered.

22/11/2017 17:54 MELROSE PARK Unsuccessful Delivery

someone was home all day. no ticket left.

Normally no one is home so I'll have to pick it up from bankstown airport or whatever. I remember last time I waited outside for over 30 mins because they couldn't find the parcel.

    • My delivery guy actually called my mobile when I didn't answer the door (I didn't hear his knock)!

  • Just to clarify; if I want to, I can buy this: https://www.newegg.com/global/au/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N… and it'll be a drop-in replacement for the Ryzen 5?

    • I don't know - but I seem to recall someone mentioning in one of the deal posts that Ryzen 7 could just be dropped in.

    • Yes, all the Ryzen chips use the same socket (AM4)

      • Decided not to buy one. It'd purely be for ego if I did. The extra 4 threads would only shave off about 3-5 minutes of waiting / day.

  • What type of monitors are you all using with this?.

Looking at getting a 1440p gaming monitor, not sure which is worth buying

    • I piked up a Dell U2417H monitor from the 20% off tech deal to use with the new PC in a duel-screen setup with my existing Dell monitor. The U2417H is rated well and I quite like it but it's only 1920x1080 (not 1440p) and is not meant as a gaming monitor so probably doesn't suit your needs.

    BIOS UPDATE

Dell Inspiron 5675 System BIOS 1.3.5 has been released. You can install it using the Dell SuportAssist App pre-installed on the PC or by direct download from the above link.

    Fixes & Enhancements
    1. Increase system stability and reliability
    2. Enhanced compatibility of PS/2 keyboard and mouse.

    • If you're going to keep posting news here, this is great!
I use a PS/2 keyboard so I'll get this one.

      • I'm hoping that others will also continue to post - no point in me being the only one.

        • You seem to be running this show lol.
Starting the thread, giving advice about RAM, linking to it in the other deal posts, etc
I've "rated you" 5 stars on your profile :)

        • Thanks - I didn't even know it was possible to rate people. Does it get me a discount? :)

  • So the PC came, but have been having trouble connecting it to an older LG monitor which previously used the white cable(forgot what it is referred to) when connecting to another computer. As the card doesn't have that port, and only a HDMI port I tried that too and there was no picture.

Did anyone else have trouble?, as I also tried a TV and it didn't work. I am hoping because its a new card, possibly the cable could be outdated?

Any advice?, was thinking of getting this monitor locally as it comes with included cables- https://www.jbhifi.com.au/computers-tablets/monitors/lg/lg-2…

    • You're probably referring to a DVI port.

Any advice?, was thinking of getting this monitor locally as it comes with included cables-

      So you've tried:
      Computer —hdmi—> TV
      Computer —hdmi—> Monitor
both with the same cable, no luck.
It's either going to be the cable (as you suspect) or the graphics card which is broken.

I'd try another cable first, just to rule out the GPU being the issue.
But if you're going to buy from JB HiFi, you can probably bring your computer with you, act like an idiot and ask the staff if they can help you test your computer on that monitor before you buy it.

      • Thanks for replying.

I did end up using another HDMI cable but still had no luck. These cables are good, as I've used it with the wdtv live unit and Wii U without fail.

I've looked at the specs of the card from AMD site and it states it uses HDMI 2.0b. I'm beginning to suspect, that the cables I currently have are outdated(haven't bought a new cable for years).

What HDMI cable and monitor are you using?. Am I correct in assuming buying a monitor now would have the right cable supplied?

        • What HDMI cable and monitor are you using?

I'm using a Display Port cable, not HDMI. It's the only way my monitor will do 1440p.

Am I correct in assuming buying a monitor now would have the right cable supplied?

Never assume. Read the product details to ensure it comes with the right cable.

Note that I've hooked up the exact HDMI cable which came with my WiiU, to other AMD RX5xx cards, with no problems.

I think take it into a store and test it with the display stock monitors + cables.

        • Thanks for replying again.

I'll try that. One thing that has stood out to me, upon also watching YouTube videos of this desktop is that when it's turned on there isn't a blue light on the front logo and the side of the desktop. Fans all work as I did open it up and see, hard to tell with the graphics card as it's faced down.

        • @Polde: OH yeah, there's a blue LED behind the Dell logo, and a strip of blue LEDs inside. The case should be radiating blue through the grills.

You've never seen it powered on with the monitor working?

Might be a warranty job then.

        • @Polde:

One thing that has stood out to me, upon also watching YouTube videos of this desktop is that when it's turned on there isn't a blue light on the front logo and the side of the desktop.

          That doesn't sound promising :(

My Dell logo glows blue like this here.

Is the power button on top lit up solid white (or amber/blinking)? If it's not on, then it's strange strange that the fans still power on work.

This may not be a graphics card or a HDMI cable issue - I wouldn't buy a new monitor until I've diagnosed the problem.

        • Yeah doesn't light up, there is an amber light when running :(

I did try a hard reset but that didnt fix it. I've emailed support and now going to wait back on their response.

I wonder how I'm going to lug this back into the post office haha

        • @Polde:

Have you tried using the Dell support assist which is on the PC? This will analyse your system for you.

        • @Polde:

Yeah doesn't light up, there is an amber light when running :(

Is the amber light blinking or solid?

          According to the owner's manual:

Solid Amber = Boot failure: This is a system fault error condition, including the power supply. Only the +5VSB rail on the power supply is working correctly.

So if it's solid, the PSU might be the culprit.

Blinking Amber = Boot Failure: The computer is receiving electrical power, and power supplied by the power supply is normal. A device might be malfunctioning or incorrectly installed. Refer to the table below for Amber Blinking Pattern diagnostics suggestion and possible failures.

And if it's blinking, perhaps the issues is the graphics card after all.

I couldn't find the "Amber Blinking Pattern diagnostics suggestion" and the "table below" reference didn't make any sense - I suspect that paragraph is supposed to be before LED states table.

It would be good if you could report back on how you with this issue.

        • @Dinjay:

Thanks for helping out, yeah I saw that in the manual and it didn't really help given it was blinking amber 4 times.

I replied to Tech support email, so hopefully they can help me out further

Thanks for help everyone so far :)

        • Ok have gotten an update from tech support.

Turns out the blinking amber lights is due to a memory issue, not sure how that impacts the monitor but there you go.

A technician will be coming out to work on the desktop in the coming days

        • @Polde: The issue may be that the system is not booting properly (boot failure) so the graphics card is not initialising. Have you tried reseating the RAM module?
If you have a spare/second compatible memory module (eg Crucial 8GB DDR4 2400MHz), you could also try using that instead of the installed RAM module.

        • @Dinjay: Do you think it will void my warranty if I reseat the RAM?.

        • @Polde: I don't know - probably ok as long as you don't damage the module (eg handle the module carefully while you're grounded or wearing an anti-static band). You can always ask Dell support if it's ok - it might save them a call-out.

        • @Dinjay:

I've looked at the detailed support request and turns out it is also an issue related to the motherboard as well as RAM. And on top of that, the parts aren't available so need to wait until the 13/12

This is turning into a disappointing purchase :/

        • @Polde: Sorry to hear that. I doubt if they know where the exact fault is because the PC is not booting enough to send them diagnostic data - they're probably just targeting the likely culprits for four amber flashes: RAM and motherboard.

  • PC is working great! Thanks to all on this thread.
Haven't had an up to spec PC for years lol. Mostly Just used a one as a media/download box.
Now, to move my 2 3tb sata hdds and a spare 128 ssd sata, which will just hold a few games this the Dell.

One question: Assuming I want to use a 4k hdtv in general, and for watching movies, but then quickly switch over to a 1080p monitor for gaming (no lag). What would be the best connection method?
    PC> hdmi > hdmi TV
    PC> dvi > dvi/hdmi > monitor

    • +1

What input ports does your monitor have?

The PC has DisplayPort x 3 so it would make most sense to use one of those ports and either connect to the monitor directly or through a DisplayPort to HDMI converter (see deal).

      • Cheers for all your input on this thread…. borrowed one from work ;)

Monitor has displayport and hdmi. It's only 1080p so the converter should be fine as long as there's no increased lag.
TV 4x hdmi@4k so would like to max out the res on that.

Just realised the PC only holds 2x3.5hdds and 1x2.5 (unless the tech sheet is wrong). So if one 3.5 slot is used with the included 1TB, it means i'll need to buy a larger HDD to consolidate.

  • @Polde: Did you ever get your issue resolved?

I was backing up my PC when suddenly the keyboard and the duel screens lost power/input but the PC stayed on with blue light and the white power button. The only way to bring it back online was to hold down the power button until it shut off and then the PC boots normally. This has now happened a few times so I wonder if this issue is related to your own issue or whether the PC is just overheating.

    • Oh man, it has been a nightmare dealing with Dell.

I requested a full refund as I don't want to deal with anymore issues with the computer(going to buy locally now), and yesterday recieved a 3rd phonecall saying the technician will be coming around-despite me saying I wanted a refund.

I received the computer on the 28/11 DOA and until now it is still sitting collecting dust unused.

I honestly dont know what your issue is sorry, but best of luck with dealing with their support

    • Thanks for the reply. My Segate Backup Plus Desktop turned out to be the cause and the PC has been stable since I disconnected that drive.

I think the total came to $119.20 delivered with the previous futu_online 20% off with code PREZZY deal. With the futuregear 10% off with code PUNCH discount, presumably the total comes to around $119.56 delivered?

My PC came with a Hynix/Hyundai Electronics HMA81GU6AFR8N-UH 8GB RAM pre-installed and my new "Crucial 8GB DDR4 2400MHz PC4-19200 CL17 288pin Non ECC Desktop Memory RAM 1.2V" (futu_online ebay title) module is running fine with the Hynix module. I also noticed that pre-owned modules of Hynix/Hyundai Electronics HMA81GU6AFR8N-UH 8GB are available on ebay.

    • Thanks for letting us know about the updates :)

I took the plunge and ordered one of these last night to replace my 8 year old PC.

      • Good choice. If you think you might ever install an M.2 SSD, then I would order these m2 x 4mm screws for $1 now. Doing that from the get-go would have saved me a lot of time.

        • Cheers for that! I do in fact have an extra SSD that was given to me so will grab the screws.

          Thanks again :)

    • Has anyone installed this BIOS update?

Since I updated it, my PC freeze once or twice a day. Also sometimes booting slows down and shows the Dell BIOS auto configuration screen - looks something like this.

  • Hi, I've got two identical monitors that I wan't to plug into the Inspiron 5675. Each monitor has 2 x HDMI ports and 1 x VGA. I've sufficient HDMI and VGA Cables but am not sure what would be the best way to to plug them in? Any help would be much appreciated please.

    • Forget the VGA slots. There's one HDMI port in the PC so you could use that for one HDMI monitor. For the other monitor, just buy a DisplayPort Male to HDMI Female Adapter and the use your HDMI cable. See this comment.

      • Thanks again.

    Pre-Boot System Assessment/Diagnostics

While trying to diagnose intermittent freezing issues (on Ubuntu), I just found out that there is a Pre-Boot System Assessment (PSA) built-in.

    To access it:

    • Press F12 while rebooting. This is the same process for temporarily booting from another disk (eg USB) so you will see options for booting from the various disks in the menu that appears.
    • Select Diagnostics
  • Hey guys, for some reason I frequently have internet drop outs despite the wifi signal remaining full signal and icon saying 'connected to internet'. I would have to wait a few seconds/minutes for the internet to resume working again? When this happens on the desktop i check my iphone and my previous asus laptop and am able to browse the internet without any issues. Is this a problem with the wifi card on the dell desktop? Will purchasing an external antenna help with this problem (can it even be attached)?

    • I use ethernet so don't use wifi.

I have noticed that wifi doesn't usually connect automatically after booting but assumed that was because ethernet is connected. Have you tried running Dell SuportAssist App pre-installed on the PC to detect problems? Have you updated the drivers direct from the Dell site?

    • no problems here using ac 5gz connecting to Huawei HG659

    • @sim777 did you fix your issue?
I'm having the same issue with it, but no issues with my usb WiFi adapter.

      • Nope it still occurs occasionally. Running trouble shooting shows nothing wrong and I have the most up to date drivers.. Interestingly i've found that it commonly occurs when i browse facebook??? I have no idea how to fix this..

        • Once mine disconnects, it keeps happening every 3 to 5 minutes. So I've just disabled the damn thing and asked Dell to come and have a look or change it.

        • @PvsNP:

Let me know what the outcome is please!!

        • @sim777: Dell guy came and replaced it, it was fine for a few hours. But today its back and the problem remains :(

Back to using my external USB adapter.

    • @sim77 Got another service done and they installed an Intel card, instead of the factory default Qualcomm card. So far, so good; haven't had an issue till now.

      • hmm thanks for the updates I will contact them and see if they can come around to have a look

Hey guys, I've been pretty disapointed with this system (bought it last year). Here are my issues with it:

Dell are dodgy and have given some of us unadvertised downgrades.

I have observed the following issues with my PC. Points 1 and 2 are false-advertising and backed by a source. Points 3, 4 I knew beforehand. Point 5 I didn't know before hand and it's quite annoying.

    1. They gave us an RX470, not a the advertised RX570
    2. The pci-e port is 8x, not 16x
      (source: https://www.dell.com/community/Desktops-General/DELL-Inspiri…)
    3. The PSU is the cheapest 450w psu they could find.
    4. You can't overclock at all, the bios is pretty limited.
    5. It's hard to upgrade the PSU, I had to physically cut the case to get it to fit.

Lesson learned, I shouldn't have been lazy, and I should have built my own.

    • I knew about 4, expected 3 and don't care about 5.

But I didn't know about 1 or 2! I never even thought to check! Have you asked Dell for a refund?

  • Just wanted to confirm, has this units motherboard got 2 m.2 slots? One under the graphics card that is SATA only and one above the cpu fan that supports NVME? Anyone got a good pic of the motherboard?

Also what’s the ram configuration? 2 or 4 slots? Is the 8gb in one slot?

Finally, do you know if there would be any issue in using all hard drive ports? 3 x 3.5” HDD, 1 Sata m.2 and 1 nvme m.2? I’ve heard sometimes using the m.2 slot can stop a SATA port from working due to shared resources. Also does the board only have 3 sata ports meaning I would have to unplug the optical drive? And has the power supply got enough sata power points or would it need an adapter/splitter?

    Thanks

    • Firstly, there are quite a few versions of Inspiron 5675 so make sure you know which version you have.

Just wanted to confirm, has this units motherboard got 2 m.2 slots?

Yes. Mine came with a 128GB M.2 SSD on one slot and other other slot empty. I inserted a m.2 nvme ssd to the empty slot.

Anyone got a good pic of the motherboard?

Start by having a look at the photos on the online manual.

Sorry, can't help with the SATA questions as I haven't played with HDDs (yet). It would be good if you could post back your experiences.
