        • Looks like the JB employee below has answered this, but this isn't what I was just told

        • Yeah, that's what I was told as well.

      • You will continue to pay $49 after the 12 months if you remain on the plan. JB confirmed it for me when I signed up last time and I also confirmed it with telstra.

        • +1

Ah good stuff! I was under the understanding the price would revert back to what it was meant to be after the 12 month contract was up. Great result.

    • Discount applies until you recontract, if you don't recontract or cancel it stays.

  • Will signing up for this affect my credit score if I'm applying for a credit card that I'm probably already quite marginal for in the next few days too?

  • Does signing up on this let you access Telstra's 4GX network too?

    • Definitely. Full Telstra.

    • I believe so, I've signed up yesterday and pretty much straight away was able to access 4g+.

  • HI Guys,

I am with Telstra BYO plan which has finished.
    How can I access this?

    Port out and Port back?

    • +1

Yes. Porting to Vodafone prepaid was fast when I used that to port out and back again to Telstra to get this deal

      • cheers thanks

  • on hold with VF trying to keep me.. asked what I wanted but I don't know? I want this deal at the minimum.. any ideas>

    • 19gb for 45
      or 32 gb for 65

      was the best I got…

      think ill go to Telstra…

    • +1

The same thing for $35 a month. They'll prob offer $39 a month

      • would have been nice!

  • I also have 2 numbers.. can I data share between them? Giving me 40gb between the 2?

    • No, telstra dont do data sharing. Just Optus I beleive, virgin do data gifting.

    • Telstra will data share across your mobiles. I plan to get 40GB as well over two phones.

See curryblender’s post below, he has done it.

      • Yeah they did donut for me. I can't seem to see what each uses though. Both say they have 39 gb left

  • Do we get $200 straight away in store after signing up?

    • +2

Yes. Once put through JB's mobile phone sales program, gift card will print out.

  • How do I get this plan? Just walk in any JB shop and ask for it? Anywhere on the internet have this deal with specific dates etc?

    • It’s advertised everywhere at the Chatswood store. POS merchandising adverts printed in multiple colours

  • I was offered 15gb data, unlimited calls and text both nationally and internationally for $49pm at telstra. Is this a good deal?

    • By who?

    • +1

That’s a standard deal on their website. It’s the Mx byo plan. Comes with the standard 10 gig and you get a 5 gig bonus for signing up online through their chat.

I signed up to this today except I asked for double data ( 20 gig) and for them to take 10$ a month off the plan. Was easy enough to get.

      • I was able to get the international package added onto it though. Is it worth the extra $10? (I need a plan that gives me a bit of international calls).

        • I’m not sure tbh if you need to be calling over seas constantly probably would be worth it. But I guess there is some wiggle room in that package for customer loyalty. My partner lives in Italy around 9 months of the year we just use viber to call, and iMessage uses data so that’s always been free iPhone to iPhone.

  • Anyone know how much international roaming is? Currently with voda and it’s only $5 when I’m overseas. Does Telstra have something similar?

    • +1

As per the above post by Chiselhendrix, Telstra's roaming is $10 for 100MB/day, or $5 for NZ. Unfortunately nothing quite beats Voda's $5 roaming (or free to NZ) for access to your full domestic cap.

We recently switched from Telstra to Voda month-to-month just for a 20-day overseas trip, which more than halved our roaming fees. It's exactly half if you keep to 100MB/day/phone, but no way we could do that. In our case, 12GB across 2 phones cost $200 with Voda ($5202), but would have cost $560 with Telstra (10202 which includes 4GB, plus $20*8 for 8GB excess).

Now that we're back though, with no more holidays planned i'm tempted to switch back to Telstra for this deal!

  • Hey, I wanna come in to get the iPhone X on a $99 go mobile plan, can you do the same $200 credit? Bringing my number across

    • Yep!

      • Thanks mate ! What’s te chance of a walk in off the street tomorrow morning for a plan? I’m in sydney CBD

        • +1

          1 in 100 😂😂😂😂😂

        • +1

@Chiselhendrix: edit, maybe 1 in 1000000 - there is so little stock…Back orders are excluded btw so of there's no stock you can't so it…

        • @Chiselhendrix: thanks mate, I like my odds

  • Is anyone able to confirm this deal? I cannot see it on their website or catalogue? I know it was on last month, if you had an ABNbut I recall them advertising it

    • +2

      Available til 8/11.

      • Do you have a link for it at all? Also do you know if you’re able to get the cellular activated for the Apple Watch 3 if I sign up? I think on Telstra’s website it is an extra $5 p/m?

        • +2

There's no link but it's a definite. Ends 8/11/17. Apple watch is easy via the Telstra 24x7 app, but we can't do it for you and it'll only work once the service is actually complete and ported.

    • Big ass sign on front window on my store

  • Is coming from Telechoice (telstra reseller) considered porting?

  • So you get 59 recharge credit every month that can be used on google play billing on this plan?

    • +1

This is a post-paid (contacted) plan, there is no recharge credit.

Also, Telstra isn't offering Google Play billing against 'credit' on new prepaid plans anyway.

  • Signed up for this one couple of weeks ago. Extremely happy. Data shared between two of my business phones so 40gb as the other is used at home by parents.
$400 JB GC helped get an Apple watch for wifey

  • +2

Is there an expiration date on the voucher?

    • Would also like to know :)

      • 2 years.

  • +3

Ported my number out of Telsta to Vodaphone, Vodaphone activated and completed within half an hour.
Went to JB Hi-Fi and told them and they were happy to port me back and give me the plan, however, the number was not deactivated in the Telstra system yet and the guy told me they couldn't give me the bonus as I had just ported out earlier, kind of stuffed now - shall I just try again later at a different store?

For clarification - the guy was totally on board with it, said the system wouldn't do it!

    • +3

Wonder how long it takes for the number to deactivate?

    • +2

Went back to JB Hi-Fi, number was out of the Telstra system and now just waiting on the port to go through, rep said hi chance if it succeeding.
I also had a data sharing SIM on the account which I did not deactivate and just got this in an email:

"We'd like to confirm your monthly shared data allowance is 22.10GB. There are 2 services in your Shared Data group who may use this allowance."

Looks like my old plan bonuses are on the account, not the number!

  • will this work with new subscriptions or is it only for porting?

    • If it only works for porting, then get a $2 Vodafone SIM and activate it. Then walk into JB to port to Telstra.

    • Just did this… only for porting. no new subscription, no telstra to telstra..
Port out of telstra to vodaphone, wait 24 hours, try to apply for this promo (which is available til the 8th).
Or just do what i did, popped over to optus, activated a $2 sim (didn't port over.. couldn't be bothered), and got the promo.
Just don't mention that you did the port over thing an hour ago… the lady in albert st (bne) said i'm not qualified to get th $10 discount and $200 GC if i hadn't been in that network for at least 3 months, so i went over to jb garden city and the guy who i talked to was more than willing to oblige regardless.

PS. Also, jb apparently is going to slash overall prices by about 7% because of amazon, there's gonna be a $299 XB1S with COD and another AAA game.. aaand… Optus Garden City has stock of iPhone X's (64gb only.. dunno what color)

  • Got the Plan and the Voucher, anyone interested in the $200 Voucher?

    Hit me up selling cheap!

    • sorry voucher gone!

  • I didn’t get my extra data or the $10 credit. Have spoken to multiple people at JB with no result. Such a disappointing experience.

    • how long have you had the plan for?

      • I’ve had two bills so far, so nearly two months.

        • i would definitely go back and bring it up, look back on your contract and see what it states?

  • Successfully ported from Boost to a Vodafone SIM. Went to JB that night and all went well! They weren't sure how to transfer the gift card from the paper docket to the plastic card but they got it in the end :)

  • Do I have to go to jbhifi in person or can I do this online/ phone? (No JB close to me)

    • pretty sure you can only do it instore. They do all the checks and porting on the spot as well as issuing you the gift card.

  • +1

Huge +1 for this deal from me.

My daughters have been struggling with 3Gb of data a month on Telstra prepaid for a year or so now. Since they didn't care about changing numbers (most of their friends use iMessages or 3rd party messaging apps anyway) I activated 2 x new $2 Vodafone prepaid simcards at 9am yesterday. Went to JB around 10:30am, was in and out in 30 minutes with my $400 worth of gift cards and 2 x Telstra simcards. The first was active within around an hour, the other is still waiting (as there was a mismatch with D.O.B.)

Effective cost is $32.33 a month for 12 months with 20Gb of data each (Prepaid was $40 a month with only 3Gb!). I will have no issues using the JB vouchers, especially with Christmas just around the corner.

We will now have a combined pool of 55.1Gb over 4 services (3 mobiles 20Gb, 20Gb & my existing 15Gb and a data share sim 0.1gb)

  • So I was on telstra before $45 for 8gb. Walked into Coles and potted out to vodafone. Next day I ported back in and the assistant could tell it was 24 hours.
I now have 20gb in my data and I got $200 voucher. Let’s see if the $10 porting discount sticks. If does not I am not too bothered as for $14 extra I got 12gb.

  • Could any JB Hi-Fi employee shed light to when this deal will finish? since OP said 10 days, I'm guesstimating 12th but deal could have started before they signed up?

    • +3

"Ends 8/11/17" - stated from an employee in one of the comments earlier.

  • Anyone know if Telstra lets you add a handset to this plan later on and pay it off over 12 or 24 months?

Knowing my luck, My current phone will break the day after signing up on a 12mth sim only plan, and id rather avoid paying for a new one upfront.

    • +1

I'd say yes as Telstra now have options to "lease" the phone or include it as part of a plan. I'll try online chant with one of my 2 that are now active as part of this deal and see what they say.

    • Just checked the Critical Information Summary:-

"Device Payment Contract - You may purchase a new eligible handset to use with your Plan, and pay off that handset over 12 or 24 interest-free monthly payments with a Device Payment Contract. If you cancel your Plan or Device Payment Contract before the end of your Device Payment Contract term, you’ll need to pay the balance of any remaining handset payments."

  • Do they do a credit check? I'm on the dole for the next couple of months.

    • Yep, but should pass if clean!

  • Do i need to be a PR or a citizen to get this deal?

    • No, international passport and visa, Medicare and a debit card are enough ID.

  • I've walked in two JBs without any sign of this deal…. Normally they'd plaster it everywhere…

    • Just ask, I couldn't see it either but got it just now

      • I went into a third, they had it everywhere… But couldn't do it due to Melbourne cup preventing them doing sign ups :)

    • My local JB had a HUGE sign out front and A4 posters stuck everywhere in store.

    • +1

I just gave up. Went back the 2nd day as advised, was in there over an hour waiting to start the process, over it.

May as well stick to prepaid offers and continue to save more.

  • +1

Just signed up for this. I was on Telstra prepaid. Ported to Optus on the weekend and ported back to Telstra today. Walked out with the $200 gift card.
I also didn't see any signs of the deal but when I asked for it, the sales person knew exactly what I was agter.

  • Has anyone in Perth already on Telstra gotten this deal by porting out and back in? I haven't ported out yet, but two stores I've been to told me I had to be a non Telstra customer for at least 30 days. Reading the comments here it looks like everyone who has ported out and back in the same day were successful. Should I just port to Vodafone using the $2 Sim and not mention anything about how I ported out? Surely it's the same deal/terms and conditions across all JB stores?

  • Just bought this, thanks OP.

edit: JB HiFi employee said the deal ends tomorrow.

  • For those that did it.. anyone billed already? My telstra 24x7 shows over $200 in charges.. Or do they just show usage at end say..49 bucks thanks?

    • 24x7 will show up all usage as you go but all included calls, SMS etc will be credited on billing.

      • thanks.. was getting a bit worried

  • Does this deal end today or tomorrow?

  • +4

ATTENTION ALL OZBARGAINERS: Deal has been EXTENDED FOR 1 Day ONLY - Ends 9pm 9/11/17.

    • Any chance I can sign up over the weekend??? Any idea when the next one is??

      • Done - no you can't unfortunately. They don't tell us if or when!

  • +1

Got this deal for myself and my wife. Data is pooled so we have 40GB shared.
We ported out to Vodafone first. Mine was BYO Telstra and out of contract, port out was very fast. My wife’s was last month of Telstra contract, port out happened straight away, but we had to wait another day for Telstra to remove her number from their system. Only then could she get this deal.

  • Didn't realise my phone was out of contract by a week, shattered I missed out on this!

    • according to rep, its still on till 9pm tonight

  • Just signed up at JB Hi-Fi on Leach highway in Perth. Lady knew all about it and had me signed up in 10 mins. Service was active 20 mins after that, I'm stoked, thanks!

  • Hi all,

those who transferred out from telstra to back in - how long did it take for the system to allow this?

(original telstra number disappearing/allowing back in?)

  • Damn, missed it
