Back before it was released in Australia I bought a US model and then had to get a power adaptor to account for the 110v on the base station. Not sure if this is still an issue with the newer model but worth checking out.

I have a cheap wireless Uniden CCTV and have no problem so far. It all depends I guess, I prefer wireless with its own base station than stand alone which relies on wifi.

Wireless may be unreliable, but in some buildings it's the only option. I have had the first gen Arlo cameras for over a year and aside from spending my children's school fees on batteries (Thankfully Arlo Pro is now rechargable) they have been rock solid. In my case they paid for themselves in the first week when they caught 2 shady characters trying to break into my cars one night and the IR scared them off.
These cameras are 720p. A Swann equivalent can be purchased for about half the price and comes with either four or six cameras.
DIY installation could be illegal in some circumstances, but who's going know if they don't tell anyone.
Ezviz - very cheap in taobao - I just ordered a set of 4 1080 outdoor cameras + 1 four channels recorder - less than $400 shipped to Australia.
Be careful as you can't upgrade the firmware of Hikvision cameras from China.
$640 for two security cameras. Expensive for little coverage.
You pay for the convenience I guess, getting sparky to install 2 cctv might cost you the same amount or probably more.
Four cameras would be the minimum to make the installation worth while.

I've seen $400 deals for Arlo pro, 4 camera system. I think this is too expensive. Also, i think the arlo pro is still better than the arlo pro 2. Their batteries are already something that needs improvement and the pro 2 will need double improvement. Still rooting for the arlo pro. I think it it's better
