Gearbest also has a sale on the new version of Soocas X3, it's $51.66 and you get australia express for free.

    • which is the top end model?

      • But we're in the bottom end!

      • I believe Soocas X3 model with oval button is the latest.

  • How much are the brushies?

    • $7ish for a pair

      • Where do you get them for $7? I only see a pair for $16.

        • When they on promotion I just bought couple from gearbest

  • What makes this Xiaomi better than an Oral-B that you can get for cheaper ($20-25)?

Xiaomi I see as a "cheaper" Chinese made alternative to the name brands. Not sure what makes this better than the name brand.

The cheaper Oral-B's do not compare to this, this is more in line with the $100+ branded models, the battery for example should last about 30 uses as opposed to Oral-B it might last a couple of days. Bluetooth functionality (probably not that useful) and a better motor are some features the cheaper alternatives lack, this is also better quality.

It's like comparing $12 sony headphones you can buy at a supermarket with xiaomi pros.

If you ever used a product from Xiaomi you wouldn't think of that. the cheap Oral-B is just a piece of rubbish. This Xiaomi one works as the same principle as Philips Sonicare. and you can control it with a App, better than the dumb button you found on a $120 Sonicare.

I do use Xiaomi products, however the products of theirs that I use aren't "healthcare" based.

My question was genuine, rather than just taking a shot at Xiaomi. Fair enough for the comparison with the Sonicare and extended battery life, that makes sense.

Being able to control a toothbrush with an app doesn't add any value to me though.

The value in a toothbrush as far as I am concerned is all about whether it gives a better clean or not. Mine is more a question of whether or not the R&D that Xiaomi put in to toothbrushes is comparable to established brands in the space like Oral-B etc, or if this is just technology built to a price without as much focus on the health results that it provides.

I'm happy to gamble on price with entertainment technology (MiBox etc), but healthcare I would prefer the higher quality product. Whether that be Oral-B, Xiaomi or something else.

  • Similar to soniccare, maybe slightly better? I actually prefer this one for traveling.
