The one from Crazy Johns is unlocked. Furthermore, it comes with a bonus 4GB microSD. Basically, the Crazy Johns package is the phone itself, sandisk 4GB microSD, and a Crazy Johns prepaid SIM pack.

  • The one from crazy johns isn't locked. Used Optus and vodafone simcards and they work fine.

Comes with the 4gb microsd as well for cheaper

    • I was told by the crazy John's store guy that their handsets are locked to Vodafone.
Did you try to make any calls using Optus?

  • yeah this isnt a bargain at all…

  • Can we get dick smith to price match crazy johns phone?

They have a price match guarantee lol

    • Do they? Last time I went to the Doncaster store. The guy indicated they do not match online prices, even if the online site is DSE.

Anyway, the Crazy Johns deal comes with a 4GB microSD card.

      • Officially it is locked but practically first batch of this product which we bought from AUSpost were unlocked.

If you are lucky enough to get the phone from auspost by next few days. I suspect next batch won't be unlocked.

It is probably one of the cheapest Android phone (the Crazy Johns deal). However, it has some limitations: low resolution, small screen and no multi-touch, no LED flash (low res. camera).

Avoid this phone if one of the followings is very important to you:
    - Watching video (inc. you tube) - resolution is too low
    - Telstra NextG network (phone does not support 850Hz UTMS band)
    - No multi-touch

The low res. means some apps. will not run (e.g. Skype, Angry Birds). They may run in the future (but don't count on it).

It does have wifi hotspot/tethering, GPS/A-GPS, digital compass, wifi (b/g/n), Android 2.2. Not many prepaid phones in this price range offer the same set of features (perhaps Nokia E65, E71). Overall, good value for money, but not a phone that fully demonstrates the true power of Android.

  • I just picked up one from CJ's and it is unlocked.

  • Got one from Aus Post and it s locked, but can work on Lebara. Any ideas how to unlock it cheaply? Can recommend any stores in Sydney?

  • Hi there, I just thought I would let you know that I picked up one of these yesterday at CJ’s for $149 (pre-paid), salesman said that it was locked and it would cost $80 ish to unlock. I thought I’d take my chances with an eBay unlock but tried my Just Mobile sim card out anyway and it worked straight away.
