I think consumer law is worth the extra $30.

    • Meh, less hassle just replacing it if a problem cones up

  • +3

    $30 discount? hmmm…

    • +3

BTW.. is this subject to GST? Given it is shipped from Singapore I believe?

      • +2

Very good question. That would make the deal terrible

      • +1

Yes I would say so if it’s grey. Fools would be paying en extra 140$ gst on import

  • +31

These iPhone prices are getting ridiculous.

    • iPhone XX will be $3K

      • IPhone XX will be crystallised.

        • +1

Iphone XXX can projection images out like star wars and will be 8K (in resolution and cost)

        • +2

@fuzor: i'd buy it, buton only if it came with a projection of a tiny woman who says "Obi-wan Kenobi, you're my only hope".

        • +2

@fuzor: iphone XXXX will knock you out

        • @CandyMan: but only if u consume too much of it

        • @fuzor: I like XXX

      • Haven't you checked ebay? people are already flogging these at 3k

    • +3

      getting?

  • +2

Not a good deal as iPhone 8 Plus… Will wait if they make their prices down by $200.:)

  • Great phone but greatly overpriced.

  • +5

    Top Notch!

  • -7

    Hmm $1799.. decent?

Honestly, considering it doesn't do anything - legit nothing - that a sub $200 phone can do, I just couldn't possibly be able to justify buying this.

In fact, I think I'll think less of people who do buy this phone.

    • +5

Yeah I'm sure there are more than a few features that the $200 phone doesn't have and functions that it cannot do; if you're simply referring to basic functions like making calls and sending messages I'm sure you can go as low as $30.

In fact, I think I'll think less of people who do buy this phone.

Is this the same way you feel about people who buy, say, a BMW over a Toyota?

      • -4

Not the same. Those cars actually feature things to justify the price.

Feel free to mention anything this phone does that… Perhaps a Xiaomi Redmi doesn't do.

      • +3

Absolutely. BMWs have expensive replacement parts are relatively unreliable to Toyotas, it's a vanity purchase.

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 is also bezel-less and has been getting great reviews. It costs $700. If someone think Apple's iOS and various other gimmicky new features are worth an extra $850, then yes I would absolutely question that person's judgement.

By all means, people can spend money on whatever you want. Perhaps they've locked themselves into Apple's ecosystem, or have too much disposable income. But just as they are free to spend their money how they want, I am free to make fun of their decisions.

        • Couldn't have (and obviously didn't) said it better myself.

        • Essential ph for $650.

        • Mi Mix 2 or oneplus 5T that’s about to come out?

    • Animoji is enough to justify that price. :-P

Can't wait for Apple Fans to come and defend this product with crazy arguments!!!!!!

      • I agree that animoji is the obvious future of mobile communication, but until it matures it's probably not worth it.

    • Could you please recommend me a sub $200 phone that can do everything the iPhone X or new Note 8 can do?

      • -1

Can you please list something aside from aniomji that this phone can do. I'll be happy to provide phones, but honestly can't think of anything this phone does that isn't mostly standard now.

        • I'm not the guy that said there's nothing a sub $200 phone can't do that the iPHone can. Surely you must know all the features to make that statement. What about dual lens for telescopic zoom? Face unlock?

        • @schwinn:
Xiaomi mi 5x had dual lens telescopic zoom, and can be unlocked using facial recognition - though obviously not as sophisticated as what Apple claims.

          Not as pretty of course.

Though admittedly I can't find it cheaper than $218 right now, it has been $199

        • +1

@Salmando: but no NFC so you can't use it like a CC.

If anything the $200 condition put you in a corner. Try something comfortable and less trollish, like $500-800

        • @schwinn: Really? I thought that one had it…

Can I up my limit to $300?

It can a rep help me out here and post a great deal…

  • Can't afford a phone now !

    • -4

Why not? Do you really need to have that Apple logo? If you don't then I don't see why you can't afford a phone. A $99 Chinese phone can do the same shit as this iPoo.

      • Look at those negs. Someone doesn't like you picking on their brand.

  • -1

You can get a similar handset - looks almost the same from the front but it doesn't have an apple on the back for a lot less.
It can be a bit hot-headed though.

Also the Face ID is quite crap.

    • Also the Face ID is quite crap

What's your experience been with FaceID so far? How often does it work well for you vs not work well?

      • +1

It works instantly for me, haven’t had a problem

        • +2

I'm sure it does, but I was interested in promethbastard's experience, since he posted that claim without anything to back it up.

        • I would like to ask you the same question :-P: What's your experience been with FaceID so far? How often does it work well for you vs not work well?

Do you own an iphone x?

Comeon ppl will be skeptical about new features and they should be.
One should let the new product and new feature talk for itself otherwise one defending it could look like a person hired by that product company.

        • @smartazz104: seems to work quite well when I tried it, only time I seen it fooled was when in the case you had an identical twin then your twin could unlock your device. There's a video on YouTube about it.

        • @brilli: I wasn't defending anything, I was asking a simple question. Perhaps my question wasn't simple enough judging by the amount of replies who seem to have misunderstood it.

      • Early reviewers were having issues with it. These are the Apple fanboys of the review world - the people Apple trust to always give glowing positive reviews. https://www.theregister.co.uk/2017/10/31/iphone_x_reviewers_…
On top of this, I work for an agency where I manage about 400 Apple devices. So yeah, I have a high turnover of devices come through, I handle every single device that comes through my organisation.
If you have to adapt to the way you use the phone in order to use a function - that isn't natural.

  • +1

"The order quantity for this product is limited to 10 unit per customer"

But of course this clause is needed

    • It's easier to buy 10+ phones and swap them when the battery dies. A removable battery might be cheaper, but won't happen. If I were to go camping for 3 days, I would have access to a Apple brand charger, so I'll need multiple phones.
Since on a regular day is need 2 phones just to make it through the day - that's 6 phones over the 3 days camping. However I'm likely going to drain the battery of another 2, simply from using the flashlight.
1 extra phone in case of breakage, and 1 emergency phone for a stranded situation.

Now, if I wanted to go camping for a week - obviously I'll need more phones, and this deal wouldn't be appropriate.

      • Why go camping? when you can look at your phone in your bed!

        • +1

True! And camping is better than ever thanks to the free Google maps pro I got from ozbargain 🤘

  • +5

    iPhone users suffer from fruitloop.

    • +1

Not as bad as LGs BOOTLOOPS!

  • +4

Wow this thread is full of apple fanboi negging the truth

  • +1

Good Luck to buy from shopmonk. Long wait and never post. Probably receive from this seller while iPhone 20 Gen released.

  • +4

    If it ever gets delivered

  • +2

Nah, 2-3% saving off Aus stock RRP for a grey import isn't a bargain. At all.

  • thanks bought 18. one for each room of the house

    • better deal than buying TVS i guess

    • That's not enough, mate. Every corner needs at least one.

    • +1

My dog has an Apple Watch on each paw.

  • +2

Agreed with above posts - 30 dollars less than RRP for a grey import phone (no GST) is a terrible deal. Also wait time in the email said 4 weeks (but who really knows).

    • +1

Plus buyer will need to pay gst so this is actually a lot more expensive than local. Deal fail

  • +1

Never buy from shopmonk. They send rooted and resealed phones

  • +2

Man the shitshow that is the comment section every time the iphone x is posted haha

  • +1

Im an iOS user mostly, had a play with the X, nice phone but not that great. I don't think it warrants the pricetag even if the nutters are queueing up for it. The note 8 is a more compelling purchase IMO.

  • +2

Who pays $1549 for a Phone, these apple prices are Ridiculous.

  • +1

    Google shopmonk review before buying.

  • +2

Shopmonk? Im still waiting for reply emails on $1000 I handed over for a iphone 8 5 weeks ago!! Very buy theough them

    • +1

Wow I was considering buying the 8 plus from them since it was so cheap… i guess not. Sounds like what Kogan did with the iphone 5 back in the day - took everyones money and didn't have stock for months.

  • please read note 8 buyers experience from shopmonk:

  • This seller should be banned here.

  • this is scam.i would suggest not to buy anything from this people.
they will debit money from you and never deliver items.
I bought a phone from them month ago and haven't received yet.

  • Bought a Space Grey 8 64GB from them on preorder and received it a few days ago via DHL as promised. Have also bought airpods and QC35s from them in previous deals and they have always arrived new and in the stated timefrimes so Shopmonk are okay by me.

In contrast to this I also ordered an iPhone via the Kogan/DS mob with the recent phone8 code and they sent me Japanese stock via regular mail…
